  1. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 08:55 AM) Pretending that guns are the problem and not people is the real issue here. Continue to think that banning all guns will solve the problem though. Criminals wouldn't dare break a gun ban law right? How do you stop the person then? Pretending that guns are no more lethal than a pencil is the real issue here. Currently if they find a gun on campus, they can confiscate it and arrest the person carrying it. That is including the potential criminal. Allowing guns on campus and that gun is either never found or returned to the person.
  2. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 07:59 AM) The issue isn't the amount of money as it's relative. The issue is competitive balance. Eventually, MLB is going to lose major fan bases. There's no incentive for kids in over half of the markets to follow their team. People in Pittsburgh, KC, Baltimore, Cleveland etc. won't continue to follow teams that have no chance. That will hurt MLB overall. Yet the Cubs draw great crowds year after year. How are they any different than KC or Baltimore? There is even another team in the Cubs' market that does field a challenger almost every year. Even since free agency got started decades ago people have been predicting this. Eventually, maybe it will happen.
  3. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 09:34 PM) I'm not exactly sure what the benefit of guns on campus is. To stop mass killings on campuses like Virginia tech.
  4. Did I read correctly that CMB said someday Chicago will elect its *first* woman mayor? Jane Byrne says hello. The onnly thing better is if she said someday Chicago would elect its first black mayor.
  5. Would you rather your team's total salary drops $20 mil which they take as profits, or they pay a superstar player $20 mil?
  6. Based on what are their salaries nuts? Based on what a cop earns? Or based on the profits that baseball teams make?
  7. Is that regardless of team profits? Remember, that is what we really care about. So if a team can pay Pujols that money and make money, why not? One issue I have with a salary cap is if it means the Yankees will now make $$$$$ while the Pirates can now break even. Seems like there has to be some revenue sharing in the mix, and I hate to even write those words.
  8. Pretty excited about spring training starting.
  9. Lucky for the Sox they had a can't miss All-star right behind him . . .
  10. Mother. mother, ocean . . . I'm in a why can't I be back at the island kind of mood
  11. I think this will start more college shooting sprees than end them. It seems like such a bad idea no one is really taking the proposals seriously, but it seems both states have the needed votes.
  12. QUOTE (Ranger @ Feb 20, 2011 -> 04:46 PM) No doubt they're better, but it isn't why they lost. Pitching (especially the bullpen in the last couple of months) screwed them last year more than anything else, and this year the outcome will again rest mostly on pitching. The 2010 outcome really had very little to do with Kotsay. How soon we forget . . .
  13. Texas and Arizona seem bent on allowing guns on college campuses.
  14. It has been a long time since I did a DYI on a car stereo. I can tell you that the Best Buy here did a perfect job installing sat radio in my gf's Honda CRV. Absolutely perfect. And she is impossible to please when it comes to her car.
  15. Makes me sad.
  16. As long as there is a Lou's open, I will survive. I also love a Chicago thin crust once in a while. The best pie within 30 minutes of me is a New York style, not a bad substitute. BJ Brewhouse also makes a decent deep dish, but again, it's just a substitute because Lou's the permanent one.
  17. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jan 26, 2011 -> 07:10 PM) You don't have to go ALL the way to Arizona for that. Wrigleyville is 10 miles North of the Cell. You'll find pleanty of them there And some will even be women
  18. QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 03:16 AM) Oh, also...
  19. 300 posts. Probably more than the original Vick thread.
  20. Houston? No problem
  21. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Feb 14, 2011 -> 02:50 PM) Me. I've eaten rabbit, deer, squirrel and bear in the last year alone, and it's what, February? No wolves though, as I think you'll go to jail if you shoot one. I think they're on the protected list, or they were, they may not be now. And single handily you have saved the country from overpopulation.
