  1. Would you rather your team's total salary drops $20 mil which they take as profits, or they pay a superstar player $20 mil?
  2. Based on what are their salaries nuts? Based on what a cop earns? Or based on the profits that baseball teams make?
  3. Is that regardless of team profits? Remember, that is what we really care about. So if a team can pay Pujols that money and make money, why not? One issue I have with a salary cap is if it means the Yankees will now make $$$$$ while the Pirates can now break even. Seems like there has to be some revenue sharing in the mix, and I hate to even write those words.
  4. Pretty excited about spring training starting.
  5. Lucky for the Sox they had a can't miss All-star right behind him . . .
  6. Mother. mother, ocean . . . I'm in a why can't I be back at the island kind of mood
  7. I think this will start more college shooting sprees than end them. It seems like such a bad idea no one is really taking the proposals seriously, but it seems both states have the needed votes.
  8. QUOTE (Ranger @ Feb 20, 2011 -> 04:46 PM) No doubt they're better, but it isn't why they lost. Pitching (especially the bullpen in the last couple of months) screwed them last year more than anything else, and this year the outcome will again rest mostly on pitching. The 2010 outcome really had very little to do with Kotsay. How soon we forget . . .
  9. Texas and Arizona seem bent on allowing guns on college campuses.
  10. It has been a long time since I did a DYI on a car stereo. I can tell you that the Best Buy here did a perfect job installing sat radio in my gf's Honda CRV. Absolutely perfect. And she is impossible to please when it comes to her car.
  11. Makes me sad.
  12. As long as there is a Lou's open, I will survive. I also love a Chicago thin crust once in a while. The best pie within 30 minutes of me is a New York style, not a bad substitute. BJ Brewhouse also makes a decent deep dish, but again, it's just a substitute because Lou's the permanent one.
  13. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jan 26, 2011 -> 07:10 PM) You don't have to go ALL the way to Arizona for that. Wrigleyville is 10 miles North of the Cell. You'll find pleanty of them there And some will even be women
  14. QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 03:16 AM) Oh, also...
  15. 300 posts. Probably more than the original Vick thread.
  16. Houston? No problem
  17. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Feb 14, 2011 -> 02:50 PM) Me. I've eaten rabbit, deer, squirrel and bear in the last year alone, and it's what, February? No wolves though, as I think you'll go to jail if you shoot one. I think they're on the protected list, or they were, they may not be now. And single handily you have saved the country from overpopulation.
  18. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Feb 14, 2011 -> 07:49 AM) Huh? Do you really need it explained to you? Ok...now listen carefully, Billy...you may actually learn something you can apply to a REAL world, not a made up fantasy land! While what you say might hold true for a temporary amount of time in this mythical world you've built...after a few years, it would come to a grinding halt. While the farmed for meat animals of the day would fall off in population (cows/chickens/pigs), every other animal under the sun would grow exponentially. You see, Billy, since #1 on the food chain (humans) stopped hunting them, they'd grow in number at a rate that would make your little head spin. Deer would absolutely EXPLODE in population, and with nobody to cull the herd, they'd eat your precious crops...the only reason why deer aren't eating those crops now is because they'll get shot for trying. Same applies to rabbits, and just about any other small animal. It wouldn't take long for wolves to realize they aren't getting shot for roaming around, either. Now, if you allowed us to kill animals attempting to eat in this world you've created, but we aren't eating them, then we create a new problem since we would have dead animal carcasses everywhere...and I'm not sure that was the solution you were attempting to find here... You see, Billy, it's part of the natural cycle...and ignoring it doesn't make it go away. This perfect world you are all contemplating CANNOT exist. Someone HAS to hunt and kill these things. It's a top down thing. As I said previously, nature INTENDED it. Keep in mind, the farm animals we keep alive now for meat harvesting are in a controlled population. Without us, and hunters, there would be nothing to control such populations...and most of these animals wouldn't just disappear, "just cuz you want them too in your perfect little vegan world". How many people here have eaten rabbit or deer in the past five years? Armadillo? Wolves? Bear? Squirrel? Waiting for their numbers to EXPLODE!
  19. I'm not certian about total tax liability but I can say when I went from married filing jointly to single, I was much happier :-)

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Feb 13, 2011 -> 08:25 PM) Not in Austin, but I'd love to get a job there after I graduate. It's one of the cities I'm focusing on to start my job search, though I don't have any real connections there. I just think it would be awesome to live in Austin. Me too. My gf has family in the San Antonio suburbs, I love Austin and Hill Country.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 13, 2011 -> 03:19 PM) Ok, fine, read it the other way. If you are going out to a local place to watch games w/ people, then why bother paying to have it at your house if you are going to watch it elsewhere? I'm suggesting not getting mlb.tv package, not suggesting he shouldn't go out to local places and watch. It seems rather plausible someone would want to watch most of the games at home, but catch a few at a local bar with some Sox fans. When I was living in Chicago, I'd see some games at the park, some games at a bar, and some games at home. I didn't think that was weird.
