  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 03:07 PM) If a student can't learn algebra, it isn't always the teachers fault either. If a teacher can't teach algebra, then that classroom will have problems. I can play your games too.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 03:06 PM) If hitting coaches know what they are doing, they aren't the problem. If Gordon Beckham can't listen, he is the problem. Firing Walker because Gordon Beckham has a thick skull is just stupid. Or Walker isn't teaching the right fix, or isn't clear enough, or can't find the right message to Becks.... Fact is, this team isn't hitting with players that used to be able to hit, some of that can be attributed to growing older and losing some talent, but the young guys should be improving, or atleast not backpedaling, yes? Isn't that the job of the hitting coach?
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 03:00 PM) I love how the assumption (word used on purpose) is always that Walker is the one who doesn't know what he is doing, even when he is in the right. A teacher may know that he needs to teach his students algebra, doesn't mean he can actually teach them it.
  4. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 02:45 PM) Really emphasizes a winning environment when you day after day trot out one of the bottom 10 regulars in the MLB in your leadoff spot. Hey you know what Juan, you don't hit you don't run you don't even field well anymore, but we have no problem letting you getting the most plate apperances on the team this year. Really shows that it doesn't matter how poorly you play Juan is a vet, he'll turn it around, just gotta have patience!!1!! He's 34 years old, it's going to take awhile to warm up!1! Speed never slumps (it stops though).
  5. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 02:45 PM) We also caught the Twins in a stride where they are winning 90% of their games, against every opponent. Just gotta tip your cap, actually, let's just give them the wins automatically vs us. We can then have some extra offdays.
  6. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 02:10 PM) So when are we allowed to critique our drafting? The standard excuse pre-2007 was that we're competitive all the time and we never have a top 10 pick. I bring up the Rays or another team and you all say it's only because they were bad and had top 5-10 picks. We finally get one in '07 and he's sucked for a year and a half. And there's no reason to believe he's going to snap out of it. His batting mechanics suck. He can't hit a fastball. You can't be good in this league and not hit fastballs. The way I see it is that the Sox develop pitching decently well, they just tend to draft pitchers with little upside/not a whole lot of talent, which ends up not producing much. They can't develop hitters worth a lick, even if they draft talented players.
  7. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 02:09 PM) And the fact that for 5 years we were supporting a guy's house-flipping business instead of international signings. Loyal to a fault. Obviously you need to trust your employees, but for something like that to happen to KW from one of his best friends, it goes to show you how this organization can so easily be blinded by their loyalty and stubborness.
  8. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 02:02 PM) That is just beyond ridiculous that you are attempting to make this argument right now. Even for you. It's one thing to be upset about not having the #1 or #2 overall pick that went on to have a great career (would rather not be in that position), but giving excuse after excuse for not drafting and developing talent that wasn't in the first round has been tiresome for the past 5+ years.
  9. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 02:02 PM) Man...really? This is the stance you are gonna take? Of all the holes in this team, it is the "Gordon Beckham was an awful draft pick" stance? Going into that draft, there is no way, NO WAY you were saying that. Hell, I venture to guess that 80-85% of the pundits thought that was a great pick. It is easy to second guess now, when you get to see stats 2 years later, and say "SEE!! I knew we made a mistake!!!11" Yea, I'll agree here. Becks was thought of as a great pick then, we just didn't develop him well (not knowing how to handle a slump is a large part of why young players spend time in the minors). It's the picks after him though (or after the first round) that we have been still pretty bad at.
  10. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 10:59 AM) Oh my God, please shut the f*** up. Don't like it, don't read it. That's why they set up the "block a person" feature.
  11. QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 10:52 AM) He was terrible, and the prospect of a better arm for a playoff push is something ide never blame KW for.. He walked too many guys, but he was not terrible. Nobody was hitting him hard, and he was showing swing and miss stuff.
  12. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 10:31 AM) Well after reading what he said in the article, I am kind of pissed at Hudson, to be honest. It didn't seem that bad, he pretty much said he was trying to be to perfect around the plate and just started attacking when with the D'Backs (something Coop should've fixed with him while here). And he didn't say anything negative about the Sox.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 10:45 PM) They boo Dunn at the Cell, but you really think Dunn is that unpopular on here? I don't. People still like him. And when Rios gets criticized, somebody always comes back with how he should be hitting leadoff which is a non sequitir if I ever saw one considering his production. Greg, you run away too much when people make legit arguments against your statements. Seriously, Steve called you out in the gamethread and I was not shocked at all to see that you never replied to it. Once someone makes a legit reason for why you're wrong you just run to another thread and post the exact same thing.
  14. So my friend posted on a girl's wall that from vancouver that we met in out travels around europe just as a joke that the stanley cup was stayin in the states, about 15 of her friends chimed in calling us f**gots and f***ers and chum, not sure what that last one means. So that link cracked me up.
  15. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 07:04 PM) it still had to be cartoony, mario in a world that looked real would be the suck. Yea, but it can look great in 3d, it doesnt have to look like a real world but great graphics could definitely work if done right.
  16. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 06:52 PM) Mario with graphics just doesn't seem like Mario though. That would be like making an HD Atari. What's the point? The identity of Mario is 2D sidescrolling. What are graphics going to do for something so graphically limited in nature? Um, Super Mario 64??
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 03:59 PM) I've got two King Cobras and a big can of Pringles. I'm ready. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 04:01 PM) Yeah, I've got a fridge stocked with 312. Let's f***ing do this. Love these styles!
  18. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 03:06 PM) Raburn's a historically slow starter. Then he turns it on late in the year and rakes for a month or two. When he had his breakout year 2 years ago I remember him hitting like .330 the first half, then nothing the second half until the last few weeks or so.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 03:03 PM) Wasn't he pretty damn good last year? .815ish OPS, not that fantastic. I just never thought he had the talent.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 02:59 PM) Well, if you want to say Peralta is overachieving, then I'd suggest that Raburn is underachieving and likely to improve as season goes on. No one talks about how ridiculous the Indians bullpen has been this year, and that's why they won so many games the first two months. Raburn just isn't that good of a player, think of Tyler Colvin, came up and hit well but is now pretty much the suckage people thought beforehand. I mean, he's already 30 years old.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 02:39 PM) Who? I can think of one or two. And it is WAAAAAAAAAAAY outscreamed by the just go ahead and die Peavy crowd. Leading in replies in this thread: 1 Peavy STFU and go away 2 Complaining about complainers 3 Peavy still can be our Cy Young

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 11:57 AM) Start with a Patio Party at a Sox game. For my bachelor party, starting with the Sox game was great, then the insanity began. I recently did the patio party in a group of 20, it really is a blast. Just make sure your beer is always full because they dont give a warning when they are going to close the taps, and they start limiting each beer order to 1 with 30 mins left. I pretty much had a hotdog and like 8 beers in about 1.5 hrs, great night and great game.
  23. QUOTE (YASNY @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 10:28 AM) ^ This. Agreed, but I see no problem in someone stating that he shouldnt be put in the bullpen because he helps the team more in the rotation. It's one thing to bash Peavy for saying it, it's another for someone to disagree with that tactic of him going to the bullpen.
  24. QUOTE (Cali @ Jun 14, 2011 -> 03:33 PM) If only Sergio was left handed and broke his arm at some point and had to learn to throw righty...he'd be SET I also, just thought of the WORST nickname for Santos: Serg Protector... Awful. You're welcome. Just stop it Joe...oh wait, sorry, figured it was him.
