  1. You people depress the s*** out of me. I must keep this thread alive! :fyou Twinkies - hope the M's beat the cream filling out of ya! :fyou Cubs - your demise is inevitable :fyou Injuns - if we stink, then you suck! :fyou Royals - still floating above on your freak April start :fyou Gammons - why don't you contract yourself from the human race? :fyou Rogers - first the SOX will win everything because of that stupid 190 ip thing & now you're jumping ship. Witless, & wimp-s***. :fyou ESPN - you need a stupid meter for being so stupid to actually believe any one gives a crap about hockey after the Hawks demise. I think I got everybody.
  2. In terms of trades, I do NOT want to trade Carlos Lee. Of all the players in the middle of the lineup he has proven to be a club house charm, shown tremendous heart, a hard worker, & has more raw talent than Frank or Konerko do going forward. He may never be a Sosa HR hitter, but he's always working his ass off to get better. He'll never be able to make the catches on turf that we see him make on grass. But instinctively he will always try & this will always hurt him D. But we don't play many on the turf so I can live with that. Most importantly, he has been very easy to sign to date. I think he really enjoys being with the WhiteSox. He does not appear to have a big ego or any garbage like some of the others. I think Lee should be considered the least expendable of the million dollar position players on the SOX. Konerko would w/out a doubt be the most expendable. Some of you think Maggs is untouchable but I do not. He's not performing at a 9mil level this year, & I don't think he'll ever perform consistently at a 15mil level. 12mil is probably where he's heading. But like Konerko he is too streaky to be considered in the Ramirez or Delgado categories. What I would like KW to assemble is a team built around : Colon, Beurhle, Garland, Loaiza, Wunsch, Glover, Gordon, Koch, Lee, Borchard, Crede, Olivo, & DAng. I would like to see Lee play left on grass & 1B or DH when the team plays on turf. There are few on this team that can make Carlos like plays on grass. It looks like the OF talent is continuing in the SOX mLs. So make some trades before the break to get a quality SS. A breakout June for Konerko could make that possible. He's NEVER failed in June.
  3. Some of you missed the emphasis in this post. It's not about wins or losses or our seemingly crappy lineup. It's about what is starting to look like the best 1-4 rotation in the AL. This was a make or break season based on Garland. With 3 quality starts in a row against better than avg lineups you have to be excited about that. If essentially the 1-4 are on, then all we need is a marginal increase in the offense to start winning games. Koch, Glover, Gordon, & Wunsch have been pretty steady in the month of May. I know the D will always hurt us, but in 2000 the offense would pick up the D gaffes. GO SEATTLE .. spank dem Twinkies down to size : GO SOX!! note: I could never post this on ESPN. The trolls would be on this thread like flies on s***!
  4. They seem to have OAK's #. Just like the Yanks have theirs. They've got 3 more with SEA at the dome, & if SEA were to sweep or win that series that could deflate them pretty quickly. They were out hit 13-6 today, so it's more like OAK finds ways to lose against them rather than the Twinkies earning the wins.
  5. MAGGLIO ORDONEZ MAGGLIO ORDONEZ MAGGLIO ORDONEZ MAGGLIO ORDONEZ But if I've exceeded my Maggs limit, then give me JOE CREDE
  6. Without a doubt the SOX have to go on a tear. But if you look at several of the post-season teams of the last few years .. the one's that actually made noise .. that's exactly what they did. The pitching & the hitting gelled at just the right time to go on a tear. No I'm not saying they will catch the Twinkies before the break. But I guarantee you if they can take 4 out of 6 from the Twinkies before the break & take 4 out of 6 from the cub .. plus hold their own against the NLW JR will just about be banished from the city if he were to dare a WF trade.
  7. Upcoming sched: MIN 4 SEA, 3 @ SFG, 3 @ SDP, 3 COL, 3 ARZ, 4 @ KC, 3 @ MIL, 3 CWS, 3 MIL, 3 @ CWS Upcoming sched: CWS 1 @ TOR, 4 @ CLE, 3 @ ARI, 3 @ LAD, 3 SFG, 3 SDP, 4 BOS, 3 @ CHC, 3 @ MIN, 3 CHC, 3 MIN If this team has any heart, it can still do this. It won't be easy by any stretch of the imagination but I do believe that if the SOX play their best or if you will their paper potential mixed with what we've seen from the pitching this year they can still enter the all-star break within an ear-shot of the division lead. Please, do not leave any game in White's hands. If he must remain on the team, then delegate him to mop up duty.
  8. Let's not overlook the fact that Garland did this against a KILLER lineup that had a team batting avg near 300! Beurhle has struggled nearly as bad as Garland in April & most of May, but both of them have looked much better of late. Especially JG. The Twinkies just dominate the A's. The SOX are now 7.5 back. Not insurmountable by any means.
  9. http://ingeb.org/songs/fromtheh.mid Enjoy!
  10. I know our lineup is sucking grapefruit, but there are some very strong strengths starting to show on this team that could pickup this season yet. 1-Mark Beurhle : do you really think he's not going to pick up his game 2-Bartolo Colon: A CG machine 3-Estaban Loaiza: proving that this year he's more than a 1 month pitcher 4-Jon Garland: 3 quality starts in a row 5-Danny Wright: Struggling but has looked good at times 6-Billy Koch: looking very good of late 7-Glover: a quality BP guy 8-Marte: The Koch & Marte combo is looking very good 9-Gordon: Better than the rest 10-Wunsch: adequate You combine those 10 with a little offense & that could spell a long winning string ahead. Remember June has always been Koney's all-star month.
  11. Bummer. I wasn't able to PTC before the game today. I was going with Garland at WSI & Dang here. Honest. <- on myself for not making the time
  12. FRANK THOMAS FRANK THOMAS FRANK THOMAS FRANK THOMAS :puke It's soooooooo hard to be a sox fan right now!
  13. CARLOS LEE CARLOS LEE CARLOS LEE The only true major-league hitter on the team. CARLOS LEE
  14. MAGGLIO ORDONEZ MAGGLIO ORDONEZ MAGGLIO ORDONEZ MAGGLIO ORDONEZ If ever there was a reason why pitchers should be included in the PTC, it's tis weekend's DET series.
  15. I played within the context of the rules for those days. No use crying about it now wimpy. With, or without pitchers, I'll still win! I've got an angle
  16. ESTABAN LOAIZA Yeah, yeah I l know .. I picked pitcher twice already & a new week starts on Monday. JOSE VALENTIN JOSE VALENTIN JOSE VALENTIN
  17. Lee leads the team in web gems. Enough said about Lee's improved D. He's clearly right now the best D player on the team. Lofton would not be a bad pickup if he could be had cheap. He had a great start for us last yr, then a slump, & then a good 2nd 1/2 with the Giants. So there's strong compeling evidence that he would do better than Rios & Harris (what w e currently have). If you call them CFer's
  18. I really wonder if some of you bother to read or even listen to the news. Though they have not found any concrete evidence of WOMD there is plenty of circumstantial evidence they did/do exist: 1) All the chemical weapons gear to wage a chemical weapons war 2) The smallpox labs 3) The hot spots in Iraq where the radition is bad. They've been detected by sat images but no one knows how to inspect the area safely so this is going to take a lot of time. 4) It is safer to get the operatives to talk than to have to essentially de-mine the country in search of WOMD. Get real. This isn't a game of patty cake or hide & go seek. <- on all the foolish liberal pansies -> in support of the American Empire
  19. You taken the starting pitcher twice already this week John. You have to make another pick WTF? Why can't I pick Garland? They are all individual players! You don't say, you've picked the RF twice, you have to pick someone else! <- on the PTC admin Ok. Saddam. Your game, your rules I guess. If you won't let me pick Garland, then put me down for the Big Hurt. That's .. FRANK THOMAS FRANK THOMAS FRANK THOMAS FRANK THOMAS to all you Slownerko fans out there.
  20. This is a tough one. Do I go with Garland or Frank? The safe pick is Frank. But if I go with Garland & he pitches well there's a good chance I'll be the only winner to break the tie at the top. Garland had a very good start vs the Twinks & I've got to believe he's going to become consistent otherwise if we have to ride the season with Jon, Mark, & Danny struggling every gm the div crown is a fantasy. JON GARLAND JON GARLAND JON GARLAND JON GARLAND
  21. I think there are some players here who just can't hack the PTC game with pitchers. It's too much of a choice for them to make. They're yella! No, because it was MY idea in the first place and as I said it should MIRROR Hawk's PTC contest from tv. That's why, momo. WIMPY! I'm just gonna have to get Hawk to change then
  22. Yes. Anoint me the dictator so my vote overrules all others.
  23. I told you they wouldn't kill off Bauer. He's the F'g show! And there are vaccines for Anthax & most other chemical diseases so the fact he's aware of it means there's a chance he will be saved. Unless ... with the small glimpse of what we could see wrt to his hand, it looked like boils were beginning to form. This could be a designer version of smallpox that we've read so much about & that Saddam's regime was working on. That could make it very interesting We we're talking after the show, & I said you know 24 sure does give terrorists some great ideas. She said "I was thinking the same thing". And that's when we started thinking about Bush & Clinton in that scenario. Clinton would probably be more at risk because the girl had a nice rack that bounced up & down as she walked down the steps. Somehow I think ole Bill would be looking for more than a handshake
