I think you're low-balling the KC lineup with these less than 3 er/starter avgs over the series. This is one of the top lineups in the AL, & they have been avg'g over 6 RPG since Lima joined the team.

http://www.yahoo.com/s/26623 The Department of Homeland Security has told airlines and law enforcement agencies that al-Qaida may attempt new suicide hijackings sometime during the next few months. The vague warning came from information gleaned from interviews of at least one al-Qaida prisoner as well as intercepted communications, said one intelligence official, speaking on condition of anonymity. The information was developed in the last few weeks. "We continue to investigate this information to determine its level of credibility," said Gordon Johndroe, spokesman for the Department of Homeland Security JUGGERNAUT: If you were a terrorist what would deter you from continuing this activity? All it really takes is for a terrorist mechanic to plant some sort of weapon on the plane before a clean terrorist boards. Do you really think it's that hard for a terrorist to both gain access to mechanics & masquerade as one? Likewise the Pentagon bombing proved to the terrorists that not even the defense dept is not willing to shoot down a commerical airliner. So the terrorists have yet to even test the resolve of the US military to trade the lives of an airliner for the lives of a city. Finally with the airline industry still suffering in the red, corner-cutting is almost a given right now make the airlines vulnerable. The fallacy of the liberal/socialist in America is the belief that we can actually prevent these attacks. The reality is we can't. Muslim militancy is on the rise across the globe. The likelihood of 1 gaining employment in the airline industry is on the rise.

Let me put this in perspective for you. We have spent over 4.5mil on the closer position for the past 2.5 yrs & we don't have 1 closer with more than 25 sv's to show for that $$$. Now who's fault is that? How can it be JM's when KW traded Foulke this winter for Koch? That pretty much tells me that KW had lost faith in Foulke to win the big games from his fallout against Seattle in 2001 & his horrible start in 2002. Look at this: MLB rank 5: Foulke OAK 26 svs 6: Biddle MON 25 svs 8: McDougal KC 24 svs 9: Guardardo MIN 24 svs 25: Koch CWS 11 svs 32: Marte CWS 7 svs Now what's wrong with that picture? One thing we failed to take into consideration was the spacious dimensions of Network Colliseum. In Foulke's 46 gms, 26 of them where at Network Colliseum where he has 14 svs in 17 sv opps. Outside of Network Colliseum: He's been rocked at Edison, Pacific Bell, Yankee Stadium, & Veterans. Teams that own him: ANA, CWS, DET, NYY, ATL, MON, PHI Koch was seen throwing as high as 95MPH on Saturday. That's a start. What's wrong with that picture?

KW is too blame .. again. For the 3rd year in a row, KW has given JM a closer who has failed in the 1st 1/2. Now maybe JM yanked Foulke too early last year. But then again maybe not. Foulke could not throw his change up for a strike. Koch has proven to be an even sorrier case because at least when Foulke failed at closing he has always proven his worth as a MR. But I also think Jose is wrong. There's not a team in the league that sits with the same lineup all yr long. The SOX are a team that historically needs to get off to a fast start or change is inevitable. That's the cost of being a historic 2nd place finisher.

This team from the very start has been built for the post-season. Bart, Mark, & Estaban are as good as any other front 3 in the AL. Over the years, home run hitters have had the greatest impact in post season & we sure have our fill of them. But the question remains will we reach the post-season? Every series with KC from here on out is do or die. They are must wins. What of our 5th starter? Is Wright coming back? How about Stewart? I've always favored another lefty in the rotation & feel that Stewart is probably the best we have right now to fill the spot. Or is JM thinking the 5th starter is a spot starter to fill from the BP? What would it take to get Ponson right now?

If I may set the way back machine to the early 90's when the World Trade center bombings occured, it seems to me that a certain administration was very laxed in what took place. If not for some faulty math & chemistry the WT's would have collapsed like a tree being cut down & probably cost upwards of 10000+ lives total. After all the plan was for one to fall into the other causing both to fall on their sides. Now it seems to me that an intelligent administration would have taken that attack seriously & in response not only consider the WT's centers a threat from the ground but also a threat from the air. Especially since the possibility of using airplanes as smart bombs had been discussed in a prior report. And since that was considered a high probability, an intelligent administration would have implemented anti-aircraft hardware on top of the WT's. Furthermore air-space around the WT's would have been limited such that any plane violating that air-space would become a target. Now let's fast forward to 2003. I still have not read anything about anti-aircraft hardware implemented on this nation's biggest targets. For ex; the Sears Tower & John Hancock Bldg. Two prime targets for any terrorist. It still surprises me to this day that there are still no anti-aircraft guns atop the pentagon. I guess we are afraid that we can't secure our own military guns from the terrorists. Finally it's a little off-topic but it's related. What's wrong with profiling? Do not detectives profile suspects? How is this different? All of the terrorists connected to WT 1 attack in the 90's & WT 2 attack on 9/11 had Saudi Arabian passports. Now how much intelligence does it require to release that visitors in this country bearing eastern middle east & southwestern asia passports are not high risk for terrorism? I would venture to say that such people should be scanned to timbuktu before entering this country & then be placed under surveillance for the duration of their visit. WE ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT AMERICAN CITIZENS HERE!

The SOX are certainly in a prestigious time in the history of the modern franchise here. There is buzz about the team & the Cell after a pretty terrific all-around ALL-STAR game experience. Many commentators called it the best in years. So to suggest that a team with 120MIL in rev/yr can't take on some salary to increase it's win potential is kind of ridiculous. What's been proven time & again with the SOX is a winning team COUPLED with SOME MARQUEE players draws a BIG crowd. I don't know how much Pitts would be willing to take on in salary to move these guys. The red ink comes from a very expensive new stadium, a spending spree a few yrs ago, & a losing team that is not drawing the fans. The tax payers picked up some of that cost & I think the lease is very long so I don't see the Bucks being contracted any time soon. I imagine it would cost MLB more to buy out the lease than to Expo-size the Bucks. I think the big question on Kendall is how good of a catcher he is. Hitting 308 is a definitely upgrade over anything we have (incl the system). But if Kendall is anything like I-ROD prime in terms of D & calling a game, then it might be worth picking up an avg of 7mil a yr in salary to get Giles. Giles is a MARQUEE player at a small market price. You jump on any chance to get him. And since Maggs is due 15mil next yr, you essentially get a Giles & Kendall for Maggs in terms of salary. Unless the SOX advance to the ALCS, I don't see Maggs here next yr at that price. Likewise, assuming Konerko rebounds in this 1/2 if they have Giles & Kendall for that same time, there is no reason to keep Koney at that price. So I think $$$ wise the SOX can make moves to fit both w/out taking on major payroll in the big picture.

FRANK THOMAS Manuel survives another series as the SOX take 3/4 from the Tiggers. But, in the BIGGER picture, KC & MIN did the job vs SEA, & OAK so we gained very little.
