The schedule makers smiled on the SOX this year .. though we didn't know it at the time. The Cubs definitely raise the level of play of our beloved SOX and framing the Twinks around those games hopefully will carry over that level of play. But the real reason why this is the moment of truth is because the remaining sched of the 1st half favors the SOX. 3@MIN 3 CHC 3 MIN 3@TAM 3@DET 4@CLE If the SOX want to win the div, 13-6 would set them on that path. MIN closes out the half 3@TEX, 3@ANA. KC closes out the half the same way.

Speaking of bunting, anybody catch Slownerko's attempts? Chicago White Sox = little leaguers extraordinare -

How about a new over/under game

As long as the under applies to the team & not the player, I like that idea. -

Promoting games is your job. I think we need at least 10 people willing to play to make it worth while. -

Could be interesting, are you interesting in doing the work, or just the critisizing? I would keep it very simple. The O/U is recorded for each gm at the USA site so there's nothing to calculate or anything like that. Essentially every gm day thread would include a link to the usa site that breaks down the teams & players for that game. Then those who are playing pick O/U. -
With such a lack luster offense this year, the PTC is nice but well lacks excitement. So many as a complimentary game we could play over/under along with it. Given the close games this year, this would be much more exciting. Someone needs access to the odds on each game, but those who play simply have to put over/under. Here's the link: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/gaming/odds/index.htm This is a good link as well: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/gaming/matc...e/g4_10600.html

From yahoo: White Sox: Once they concede, one agent expects them to reduce their payroll by as much as $20 million. Trading Colon, left fielder Carlos Lee and shortstop Jose Valentin would do the trick. Again, the LUV FEST continues with SLOWNERKO! Get this damn waste of space off this team now! Not only that, but the claim is stupid. mid-season savings: Colon 4.5mil. Val 2.5mil. Lee 2.25mil. Total: just shy of 10mil. None of these guys are signed for 2K4. Our fav masocist is an espn insider now & posted an article on Boston's needs & how the SOX can filly them. Essentially Colon & Gordon to the RED SOX for Fossum & a pkg. What do you think? I think any unloading of Colon should be saddled with SLOWNERKO.

How can a MLB team be so poor in fundamentals?
JUGGERNAUT replied to JUGGERNAUT's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm not talking just about errors. Though the SOX collectively I think avg better than 1 error a game (That's enough right there to wear a bag over one's head). I'm talking about poor fundamentals. I've counted no less than 5 balls hit in CF betw Rowand & Rios play time where it went over there head but bounced before the warning track. THAT's A CARDINAL SIN IN THIS GAME!!! JM should have kicked dirt at them & sent them home on those days. That kind of play should not be tolerated. I've counted no less than 9 lost runs due to poor base-running. Again Rowand is involved. When you consider the close games the SOX have been in over the last 20 gms, that could have made a difference. I've counted maybe 1 decent bunt all yr long. That's down right pathetic. I've not seen either Olivo or Paul get into position to block the plate for a play at home. If it's because we don't have OFers who can get them the ball on 1 bounce, then we need new OFers. Period. As a SOX fan I've grown accustomed to the errors. I can even look past them. But piss-poor play is unacceptable. When I see that I immed turn them off. If I'm at the game, I want the whole team to give the guy his deserving lumps. I just don't understand why we have such stupid players on our team. Did KW have a hand in picking all of these guys? -

Be glad I didn't come back with the old "you can't handle the truth" line from A Few Good Men! I was hoping you would! I'll post the situational stats a little later. It's not easy lining them up here, but I'll do what I can. Abysmal is the best way to describe it. Some we'll say we can't hit worth a lick & that explains it, but I don't buy that. -

Some of you are taking the "it's not just the WHITESOX" attitude, but I don't buy it. Look at the situational stats for every team in our division. We are the worst. I WANT ANSWERS! I WANT THE TRUTH! -
I really want to know the answer. I think of all the years these players must have played baseball before reaching the MLs. How many instructors they must have had. How is it that they can go through all those years & then the CWS mLs & yet still reach MLB as fundamentally poor baseball players? Rowand misjudges balls hit over his head but before the warning track in CF. Rowand misjudges when he should & should not run from 2B. DAngelo is the bobble king of the IF this year. I think the team is butt ugly poor in base running. I think the catchers are butt ugly poor in blocking home plate. I expect fielding errors with these little leaguers but not base running & basic catcher fundamentals. HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN? HOW THE HELL DO WE FIX THIS? <- on Rowand for being butt ugly stupid.

I've not given up, but we have to play MUCH better than the Twinkles if we are going to catch them. Seriously, we shouldn't even be looking at them yet. The Royals are the 1st hurdle. Last 10 gms: Twinks 5-5 Royals 6-4 Sox 6-4 This has been the case essentially the last 20 gms, & that's why we've remained the same distance behind both of them during that stretch. We're still 3.5 gb behind KC & 6.5 behind the Twinks. the consensus is that the WhiteSox are simply to poor in fundamentals to mount a challenge. I don't know what's wrong with the organization but Rowand cost us 1 run in stupid base running on Sun, DAng costs us a run on a stupid error in Mon gm, & the list goes on. I heard a stat: 32 gms this yr the SOX have scored fewer than 3 runs. That's not all lack of hitting. A lot of base-running mistakes keep this team from manufacturing runs. I really think the organization needs to clean house. I'm sick & tired of seeing reasonable athletes with no head for the game on this team. I don't know what is going on in the minors in terms of fundamentals but this team plays like a little league team on more than 1 occasion. By cleaning house I mean everyone. If only there was a way to remove JR. But certainly KW, JM, & most importantly those in charge of fundamentals in the minors. -> on the little leaguers known as the Chicago White Sox. You know who you are.

FRANK THOMAS All that remains left in this season is the WINDY CITY CLASSIC. Pathetic. How can this team waste Garland's best start? Well wrt to the cub ...

After last night's terrible demise .. I can barely bring myself to post PTC's let alone post. It's better not to think about the WHITESOX right now. The team is so bad I'm not even sure if I could place the blame for last night on JM's head. Sure I can say, he should have pulled Colon in the 8th. But I can't say the same would have happened with any one else pitching.
