  1. QUOTE (onedude @ Dec 23, 2013 -> 08:33 AM) Todd Ritchie wasn't a good deal Alomar and Colon trades were decent at their time IMO The Colon trade was one of the most lopsided trades of the past 10-15 years for the White Sox.
  2. Frankly, for those who believe the Sox have any chance in hell in competing, Dunn is going to have to be apart of it because they simply don't have the bat necessary to replace him in the lineup. If you don't, and really I don't expect them to but rather to win about 77 games or so, then sure, facilitate a trade. I strongly doubt Dunn wants to be in Chicago anymore too. Don't eat the whole contract though. That's absurd.
  3. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 06:43 PM) I probably hated the BMac-Danks trade more than anyone when it happened but that ended up being lopsided in our favor. No way. Willie's birthday is December 23rd. He got a McCarthy jersey for his birthday.
  4. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 06:09 PM) There have been 2 Matt Davidsons. 12 Eric/k Johnsons (9 with a "c", 3 with a "k") 3 Tim Andersons 12 Carlos Sanchezs 8 Jose Abreus 1 Keon Barnum Yes, those name combinations in general are rare. Most are. Tell me how many Johnson's, Anderson's, Sanchez's, and Abreu's have played. They are very generic names. They're not quite Rowand, Pierzynski, Konerko, or Crede. It's ok, just hope they're good.
  5. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 03:44 PM) Got my wife some bling. Wife gave me a nice black Fossil watch, the complete series of Seinfeld and a new Kindle Paperwhite. Have to figure out what to do with my old Kindle. Only had it for two years and it's still in great condition. My son's getting all sorts of Ninja Turtle stuff, some cheap generic ninja action figures, a giant Power Ranger and a big Thor figure. Ninja Turtles for the motherf***in win
  6. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 02:24 PM) Best selling jersey in the history of the MLB. I don't know why you do this...you always undersell him. Every living being on the planet with legs or eyes will have one of these. Most famous clothing line in the Marianas Trench? C'mon, what do you think? Next stop, Mars and Jupiter.
  7. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 01:43 PM) As a fan it's aggravating, but it's the right thing to do. Packers will be in the playoffs every year as long as Aaron Rodgers is healthy. It's also going to be hilarious when the Packers win the division with Matt Flynn as QB. Division? Super bowl of the universe.
  8. Sorry, contextually. I have an anus. Women have vaginas. I'm not referencing it in a sexual manner, which is exactly what Phil Robertson was doing, which makes it inappropriate. It's not a big deal, I'm not offended, he's dug himself a deep enough hole by not showing better judgment than talking about that.
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 01:01 PM) God she was so hot back then. She looks like wite now. With or without stubble? Ah, who am I kidding, it doesn't matter. I'd bang it.
  10. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 01:31 PM) Being vulger and being hateful are two different things. The argument wite appears to be making isn't that it was vulger, it was hateful, which is ludicrous. No, I think it was vulgar as hell. There's no need to talk about vaginas and anuses to the general public unless you are a gynecologist or proctologist, and I would hope that's only if you are announcing some sort of break through medicinally.
  11. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 12:53 PM) Why the f*** not? Seriously, is that how far we've come now? We can't even express to people what we like and don't like at the risk of offending someone? Jesus Christ. How do you feel about what Riley Cooper said? He didn't do anything illegal, and frankly, he said a lot less, but he was still scrutinized to holy hell. There's no need to talk about the physiological aspects of sex, nor to suggest one is superior to the other. I'm straight, I love women and vaginas and boobs and whatever, but I don't believe gay people are sinners and I don't believe they are wrong.
  12. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 11:46 AM) Phil Robertson's America I think this article is loaded as all hell and tries to connect very, very loose ends. Phil Robertson is an idiot. He is also incredibly naive or he is a great actor. Frankly, I could not care less. He probably did see nothing but happy blacks in Louisiana and he thought no different. He's not a senator or a mayor or anyone that holds any sort of public position. Let him believe what he wants to believe, and if you are smart, you will ignore it and allow the village idiot to believe what he wants to believe. My problem is not with Phil Robertson. My problem is when actual, intelligent people agree with him. I do not believe he should have been suspended, but everything he's said is incredibly ignorant on a deeper level. I shared my thoughts with someone close and they said "frankly, I agree with him." Yes, I personally find a woman's vagina more appealing as well - I'm guessing all straight males agree -but I don't go talking about it. First and foremost, you don't talk about any of that stuff publicly because it's simply not politically correct - frankly, it's disgusting. Of greater note, you don't talk about that stuff because it is highly offensive to the LBGT community. Trying to even come up with a comparison for what he said is impossible for me. To imitate his speaking style, it's like "Hey Phil - shut up. Just go shoot stuff. Dinner will be ready when you're back."
  13. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 11:33 AM) Oh god, I forgot Morel is still on the 40 man Jesus, you forget everything, what the hell is wrong with you?
  14. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 10:46 AM) Good point. Zero sum game. Do you consider Downs and Surkamp an upgrade over Heath and Morel? At least those two have a purpose within the system, which is more than you can say about Morel and Heath.
  15. Why do coaches even wear numbers?
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 09:27 AM) I agree. I do not like anything right now. Although, board, I did just have a dream last night where Milwaukee, in their "dream to be an 8th" seed thing, traded for Deng and gave us their 1st round pick. I was so pumped when I woke up. I can contact your local Narcotics Anonymous if you do not wish to do so yourself
  17. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 09:30 AM) Current and eventual...14 numbers. Seems excessive. 2- Nellie Fox 3- Harold Baines 4- Luke Appling 6- Charley Lau 9- Minnie Minoso 11- Luis Aparicio 13- Ozzie Guillen 14- Paul Konerko 16- Ted Lyons 19- Billy Pierce 35- Frank Thomas 42- Robinson 56- Mark Buehrle 72- Carlton Fisk There are at least 86 other numbers they can choose from, 87 if you include 00. Frankly, I don't ever want to see anyone else wearing 35 again in a White Sox uniform. Maybe, in 500 years, when there are 25 numbers exactly to choose from, we can have this conversation again.
  18. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 08:00 AM) how again did Rongey score that, no matter how short lived it was We should ask him how it was.
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 08:27 AM) You would think this game of chicken would end fairly quickly. The longer he stays in Japan, the more miles on his arm, a chance of injury, the less he is worth to the MLB Rakuten doesn't give an eff
  20. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 12:23 AM) I'm much older than you and I'm struggling to remember the Bulls' last title. A super, duper golden oppo is here. We'll never acquire a star through FA or trade. This is our only way. And they're (front office) sabotaging it. I remember it. I think Larry Bird went up against Michael Jordan and Adam Vinatieri scored the game winning 3 point field goal. Correct me if I'm wrong.
  21. QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 08:32 PM) This McCarthy-Danks thing is a silly argument. Through their rookie contracts Danks outperformed McCarthy heavily. After their rookie contracts McCarthy started putting it together and Danks got hurt. That's a very short-sighted way of looking at it that does not involve the initial statement in question itself. McCarthy is on his 3rd different team since the trade, 4th overall. The statement was "Williams did not win trades and gave up too much talent." Fact is, the Sox did NOT give up too much talent and in fact received far more than they would have with Danks.
  22. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 07:55 PM) You think Ventura is down with that? Frankly, if Clint Hurdle, who is the oldest of the old school, is down with it, then I have no doubt Ventura would get on board. It's a matter of whether the White Sox will get on board.
  23. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 09:20 PM) Well then I guess we're down to Semien No, I guess we're down to not dealing for the catcher you seem to think they'll deal for
  24. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 04:54 PM) That team would have a run differential of around +200. I'd hope we could compete with a team that's quite a bit worse than that. I think it would be closer to 125 or 150, but the general point remains - none of those are overly unrealistic, but the idea that they all will perform like that is generally unrealistic. You are likely to see pitchers struggle or get hurt, young players play awful, old players continue to decline, bullpens blow up, or whatever scenario you can concoct. It's always possible though, and hopefully this team leaves us satistfied overall.
  25. QUOTE (Dunt @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 04:35 PM) Oh definitely, the trademark Sox fan pessimism is understandable and well documented. Guess I am just very excited for these players to be in White Sox uniforms. I think we all are, but there is absolutely reason for caution.
