Everybody had a career year in 2000. JM had nothing to with our success. Back then, sitting back and letting the players hit bombs worked. But now the players arent hitting bombs and JM refuses to adjust. He still doesnt use small ball even tho its the only way this offense will do any harm to opposing pitchers. If he could have adjusted and figured out that we need to steal and sac and hit and run and he actually started doing so, I might be fine with him. But he hasnt. So its time for him to go. And for those of you who say Williams been making the lineups, so what? I dont give a flying flip abou the lineups. I care about Manuels in game tactics. That is where he fails and that is why I want him out...

JM wasnt the cause of our great play in 2000, the players were. JM was an idiot then just like he is now. The players in 2000 were awesome, JM doesnt deserve the credit for taking us to the playoffs...

Manuel is an incapable idiot so with him in I never think a winning streak would be possible. If losing every game for the rest of the season meant JM is gone, Id take it...

I hate this. Once Kenny is confirmed gone, I wont root for this team any longer until Manuel is gone as well. Ill be here and posting but I wont root for the Sox. I really wouldnt care if they lost like ten in a row just to see Manuel get the can. Lets see him free manage. Hell screw up and finally JR will have enough evidence to fire him. Royals win. Life as a Sox fan just gets worse and worse...

Wonderful. We keep Manuel and fire Williams. Ward isnt that bad. Last year we had a good offense and he was in charge. Hopfully the new guy will can Manuel and hire the much more competent Backman. Thats all I want. Kenny to stay and Einhorn and Manuel to go...

Im so mad! KW did nothing to deserve this. He was simply trying to do the job of someone who wasnt doing it. Is there anything so wrong with that? We should boycott until Manuel is fired. And hsc, how can you support this guy? Hes done nothing. He never steals or bunts, he just sits there and relies ont he bomb. What has he done to make you so comfortable with him?

Ive been a Frank Thomas fan all my life. In fact, thats why Im a Sox fan. He was the first player I knew. And he will always be my favorite. In my days on message boards, Ive probably criticized every player weve had, but I dont think Ive ever criticized Thomas. Constructive criticism but not "you suck" criticism. I love Thomas and I always will. Hes a legend in my mind. Jeezus, his bashers are so ungrateful, they must be French...

Is he the one who tells JM to never bunt and never steal a friggen base? I dont give a flying flip about the lineups, except for days when Rowand starts instead of Rios, I think the lineups are fine. I just wanna manager who will use small ball to his advantage! Backman! Backman! Backman!

Anyone could have managed that club. Everyone had career years. Valentin is a good player but he doesnt typically hit 25 homers with 92 RBIs. Everyone we had does pretty good but not as good as they did that year. If we had a manager who uses small ball to his advantage, wed win 95 games again. But with the unnaggressive schmuck Manuel at the wheel, who never uses small ball, we are maybe a .500 team, but probably not even... wrong. look at the pitching staff. hardly any of them pitched again.. got to give hm credit for what he has done. and with KW out of the way he can do it again Cal Eldred went 11-2! Siro was an ace! Baldwin was decent! But I remember Baldwin always used to have ERAs a little over five, that year he had one of 4.65! Everyone went above the norm, which is my point. JM didnt win that division, guys like Val, Frank, Maggs, Carlos, Konerko, Siro, Eldred, Baldwin and Foulke won the division.

Manuel sucks at motivating. KW was only trying to fire an unmotivated team up a little. If JM was such a poor motivator and I was in charge, by God, Id try too! KWs been a great general manager. His only fault was that idiot he put in charge. And why doesnt Eddie Einhorn mind his own business?

he was most likely there because he was checking up on things.. he makes a few trips down to the minor leagues each season... he's probably headed to b-ham next..... its kinda like kw on tour.....ya think we can get his plane hijacked and headed to sibera or something similar??? lol i know wishful thinking huh........ And well still suck because well still have a piece of crap for a manager. The one good thing about our management is leaving and the one bad thing (ok, with JR its one of two bad things) is staying. This is sad...

Don't get me wrong....I would undoubtedly take a nutcase like that. Sometimes all it takes is a firey guy like Lou Piniella to get a team fired up. Point blank...I want a guy that is a good manager. Also....I think Manuel arguing to his ejection was not necessarily a bad thing against the Twins. Guzman was clearly out, and when an ump makes a call that poorly, you have to argue. You can't just sit on your ass and let a play that obvious go. Yeah, youre right. But when should a manager argue and when should he not? He only gets one ejection a game, if he uses it on some meaningless poor call in the first, hes not gonna be there for the critical poor call in the eighth. And Guzman was out so I am kinda glad he argued. But Loaiza shut em down so Guzman still didnt score. The foul homer, we lost two runs on that and Manuel didnt even argue. Thats where I think you should really come out shoutin...

Thank you KT. And I agree wsf. I dont want some angry nutcase but I want him to stand up for his players. Like on Joe Credes foul homerun, Manuel should have argued that one to his ejection. But then one thats a non crucial play in the first inning like Guzmans cheap IF single he shouldnt have gone out on that one. Ya got to know when to take it to the ejection, and when to just go out and tell the ump he screwed up. And Cerb, I guess thats even better. So maybe under someone like Backman Olivo could get like 15-20 steals. But well never know with Manuel in charge...

Very good work cluj. I think his point is, that altho Frank may not be adding runs, hes not preventing them either. And shouldnt we be able to count on Maggs to drive in runs consistently, which he is not doing? I hate when guys swing at bad pitches so Im not going to ask Frank to cut down on walks and start swinging at those pitches. There are several other people who deserve a lot more blame than Frank...

The Sox are a good team with a bad manager. In addition to what CK said, Backman would also use steals and bunts to help us gain an advantage. Last year Olivo had like 15 steals under him. Maybe he wouldnt get that many up here but he would still get like 8-10 and that makes a big difference. Would you like to know how many hes on pace for this year? Zero. If Im correct only Daubach, Maggs and DJ have stolen so far this year. That is unnacceptable. Here are two different innings under two different managers. Manager number one -Player A singles. -Player B doubles, player A goes to third. -Player C strikes out. -Player D grounds out to third. -Player E flies out to end the inning. So sometimes you get lucky with this guy and get a sac fly, or your team gets five hits and four runs, or you get a homerun. Manager number two -Player A singles. -Player A steals second. -Player B sac bunts him to third. -Player C hits a sac fly and player A scores. And with this manager you can still get homeruns and slugfest innings just like with the other one. But here, you can get one hit, and still get one run. Without bunts and steals, you need atleast two hits, unless you get a triple and a sac fly but that isnt the most common scenario. Either way, manager two is definitely going to get you more runs. Manager one is Manuel, number two is Backman...

I love that CW. But such an inning wont ever happen under Manuel. If we do get guys to first and third like we did last night the next guy will try to pull and well fail like usual. This team is incompetent of playing small ball to their advantage. That is why we need Backman as the manager. JM relies on the long ball, and while that is exciting it just doesnt get the job done. Backman, while getting the longball occasionally, will use steals and bunts to let us score a good percent of the times we get a man on base...
