  1. OK, if we had the Tigers ballclub, I could understand doing so poorly. I would have nothing to blame on Jerry. I would be able to realize that our club just sucks. But we dont have the Tigers team. We have a team that could be the Yankees or the As. KW has put together on paper one of baseballs best teams. The only thing we dont have is a manager. We need a manager who will inspire them, and a manager who will use small ball to gain advantages for us. Wally Backman is that manager...
  2. Well the girls seemed to like it. If the girls were screaming for him to take a hike but he still did it, Id say fire him. But they were kissing him back so I dont see why anyone has a problem with it...
  3. Maybe you meant it to be a joke but thirty yards would mean ninety feet which would place him back at third base and so he would be safe, being on the base and all...
  4. Oh, dont forget, hes a LEGEND! The man deserves some freakin respect. And its not like we dont whine. We shouldnt blame him for doing something we all do from time to time. Youve been whining this entire thread, am I calling you a whiner?
  5. Fine so we lack a centerfielder. Find another team that has a perfect player for every position. And besides, the very competent Rios can play center but he isnt in there consistently. Is that KWs fault? Nope. Thats JMs decision, and if he fails to make the smart decision (put Rios in center) he should take the blame...
  6. Fire Manuel. That should fire those guys up some...
  7. Absolutely Baggs. The blame starts with him and trickles down. I'm getting sick and tired of Sox fans saying he put all the pieces in place too. That's BS. Where's our CF for one? We are extremely weak up the middle with Jimenez. While his stick has been a pleasant surprise, his lack of range and inability to get down on groundballs while moving has been obvious. I just don't know anymore. Something need to be done..... but won't. Wasnt it Sox fans saying that we shouldnt trade Rowand because hed certainly be a star soon? Well, I guess KW listened. And again, another player we thought we could count on who we really couldnt. Its not his fault that formerly decent players suck when they come to the southside...
  8. OK, when Williams took over this team, he did a couple of things. He trade Sirotka for Wells. Wells sucked for us but has Sirotka done anything since we ditched him? No, he hasnt even pitched in the bigs. Then he traded two minor leaguers for Royce Clayton. The two minor leaguers, one now with Cleveland, havent done anything. Clayton was kinda a wreck but he had a good past. You cant blame Kenny that he stunk and screwed up our team. You cant blame Kenny that Colon (to a lesser extent but hes been less than perfect), Koch, Ritchie and White all stunk when they got here. Colon had a 2.93 ERA and 20 wins last year. Koch was a 40 save closer. Ritchie had a 4.47 ERA and went 207 IP for the Pirates in '01. Rick White had an 0.82 ERA in St Louis last year. If you can say you wouldnt try to go and get these guys for your team youre lying thru your teeth. KW did what any other smart person would have done. The fact that the people who seemed reliable last year havent done their jobs this year is not his fault. He doesnt deserve the blame...
  9. One Hour Photo is very good but its very disturbing. I learned one lesson from that movie. Dont get your photos developed at the same place twice!
  10. This guy sucked with us. He still sucks. Hes sucked his entire career but he does awesome against us. Whether its robbing a homerun or hitting four, he just kills us. Ugh, pisses me off...
  11. Bmr, leave him alone. Why arent you ripping on PK and Crede, who suck even more than Thomas right now? These two have done nothing for this team, but Frank is a southside legend. He leads the franchise all-time in homers, and like every offensive category imaginable. The man deserves a break. He looks a little lost but he is hardly the worst problem on this struggling offense. So could we all cut the man a break? He is one of the best players to ever play on this team, now that hes struggling I think we should cut him some slack...
  12. Well, the way our team has sucked lately I have a lot to say so this post has no real structure, so Im just writing this stuff as it pops into my head. OK? -Our pitching used to rock and our hitting used to suck. Now they both suck. Team ERAs up to 4.18. Bartolo Colon is the third pitcher on our staff whos ERA has gone over four. Sorry, you may think thats fine but for our second ace to do so, I think that sucks. Esteban Loaiza collapsed against the Mariners. Yes, its only one start and hes been the best pitcher on the staff but we know he usually rocks in April and sinks a bit in May so this aint a great sign. I really think weve all been fooled by Loaiza. He does this every year. I think hell put up 15 wins (on a normal team he could get 15 but with this offense he might get like ten) and a decent ERA but dont count on these current numbers. Oh shoot, now Bartolos ERA is up to 4.40, that really sucks. -The hitting sucks. Why? I think weve just overrated them the last couple of years. This team has no speed. Well wait, correct that, we have a very unaggressive manager who doesnt take advantage of the speed he does have. Val, DJ, Ordonez, Lee and maybe Olivo could steal a lot of bases but JM doesnt use his speed. And then we have no decent lefties in the starting lineup. We have good hitters but with all the righties the opposing manager doesnt have to make critical decisions about who to bring in to face who. We see Kelly Wunsch face a single batter all the time but when have we seen someone face one guy against us? And this offense cant take advantage of opportunites. Today for instance in the first we had runners on first and third and no one out and Gil Meche continued his scoreless streak. That was against Thomas and Ordonez. If we cant count on those two, who can we count on? Then in the fifth we had one out and men on second and third and we got one freakin run! That is unnacceptable. -Our bullpen sucks. But Ill give them credit, theyre improving. Marte, Glover and Wunsch especially all look good. Tom Gordon is improving and has actually had some decent outtings. But Rick White and Koch have still been unreliable. Koch is supposed to be the closer and if he cant do his job well have to go to a closer by commitee and even tho a guy like Marte could probably do it this is what killed us last year. Marte and Glover are for the eighth, not the ninth. -Manuel is unaggressive. He does nothing. He never argues the point with an ump, he never uses our ATLEAST decent speed to give ourselves advantages and he never uses small ball to give us an advantage. Do we ever see hit and runs? No, Jerry just relies on the long ball and when thats not working were screwed. He needs to be fired and Wally Backman needs to be put in place as manager. Look at what a good aggressive manager can do for a team. Last year, the Angels had only decent talent. But with Mike Scioscia as the manager they won the World Series. They tagged up from first on fly balls from the outfield and all kinds of things, but what made them fun to watch was that one any way they could and they played good baseball. Manuel doesnt do or inspire this. If we dont slug the ball out of the park were not gonna win. -And dont blame this on Williams. He put a good team on the field but they arent performing. They have no motivation and thats JMS fault. This team hes created has talent but not will or effort. The fact that everyones doing absolutely nothing is not Kennys fault. Hes even tried to motivate them himself and since JM has refused to do so I commend KW for trying. KWs only fault is to have not yet fired Manuel, who is stopping this team from going all the way. If we fire Manuel and hire Backman, which would fire up this team perhaps, we could recover. But if not, we are in trouble. And lets say we win like 76 games this year. Do you think guys who are up for free agency next year are gonna want to come back? No way. Bartolo and Mark would be jumping off this sinking ship the first chance they get. And we definitely will suck in the years after that...
  13. Jeezus Christ. Give the man a break. Yeah, hes old enough to be the girls dad but their are people who get married even with such an age difference. So what if they have some sexual interaction? Its not like she was screaming for him to buzz off. Give him a break.
  14. Thank you fellas. Too bad the Sox sucked. And happy belated b-day to you SFF!
  15. umm..iirc...samme beat his wife when he was a white sox Ugh...
  16. So wait, southsider, we shouldnt expect Colon and Buehrle to win because theyre going against the big 3? No. Losing is unnacceptable. If you cant beat the good ones you shouldnt be a contender. The Tigers wont be there in October. And Buehrle and Colon have been OK. 3.74 and 3.85 for our aces isnt very good. Not to mention Marks 4 losses. But then again, he started 2001 with a 1-3 record so he might recover. And yes it is hard to win when you get no offense but four runs in 6 IP doesnt give you a great position either...
  17. Ugh, this guy was on my fantasy team. My bench but he was still on the team. But not anymore. I released him. And the Astros didnt send him down, they basically released him. And Im glad they took action against this guy. The Cubs did nothing against Sammy for beating his wife, just shows how much class the Astros have and how little the Cubs have. OK, youre probably not gonna release Sammy because that would kill the Cubby fan base but Lugo had potential. He coulda turned into something. Hopefully the world will never know...
  18. AR certainly messed up by responding. Fans see you act like a jerk like that and they definitely arent gonna like you anymore. But the fans should shut up too. I think theyre just overreacting at how much weve stunk so every little mistake kills em...
  19. This offense is way overrated. In 2000, everyone had great years and we scored nearly 1000 runs. But now everyones sunk down to normal and this year well be lucky to get 800. As for Mulder being a good pitcher, so what? Good offenses beat good pitchers (sometimes the pitchers win but have we ever really hit a good pitcher really hard this season? no). Mark Buehrle is a good pitcher (he seems off this year, but thats beside the point). The As beat him, they did well against him. The As have a good offense. Theres no point in being a contender if ya cant beat the good ones. This team may as well give it up...
  20. Well, I throw a sinker (some people say its a changeup, but whatever, it works) and a splitfinger pitch, and sometimes 0-2 after the guys seen two breaking balls, Ill give him the gas. But most importantly, I never walk guys. Im a good location pitcher. If you saw two breaking balls that go low and away as strikes, its gonna be pretty hard to hit a fastball that comes up and in on the next pitch...
  21. If anyone got attacked it was that moron Cubs fan Dybas. And Im happy about that too. Raul Ibanez stomped his leg and Diaz force fed him piles of grass and dirt during the commotion. And Diaz is a former Marine. You dont attack former Marines...
  22. I just wanna go to Purdue so I can be close to Chicago. Thats all...
  23. I hate the weather. Here we were having a sunny 105.6 degree day (which was kinda cool actually) and then it dropped to 68 and raining. Now the rain left us and got to Chitown just in time to stop the one thing Ive been looking forward to all day. Baseball needs to be like football. Stop whining and play in the friggen rain!
  24. I think the young one can turn it around. But he needs to take the consequences and be punished first before he is allowed to have his life back. He sounded like a good kid under control of an idiot. But he still made a choice and now he must suffer the consequences. No exceptions...
  25. These two are scumbags and they need to serve atleast some punishment. 1-2 years. What they did is unacceptable. They made a choice, which may have been influenced, but either way, it was the wrong choice. And Mr Ligue was chaperoning a childrens birthday party. He did so while being drunk out of his mind and having five illegal substances, including marijuana, in his system. Am I the only one who sees something wrong with that? What kinda family gives the kids a nite out with such a person? That is messed up. As for the kid, he made the wrong choice. But I do believe Mr Ligue may have been abusive (I think I read it somewhere). So it was beat the crap out of Gamboa or get the crap beaten out of yourself. I would have refused but I can still see why someone would go the other way. The kid also gets good grades I have heard. But his conduct was unnacceptable, and he deserves a punishment. Lesser than what his father gets but not probation. I suggest two months in prison and shipment to a military school where he is under around the clock supervision by responsible adults. I suggest they rate his conduct and at the end of one year at this school, report to the court and give their judgment on whether the younger Ligue is ready to return to civilized society. Once his father is released, he shall be allowed periodic supervised visits but he must never return into Mr Ligues custody. He can live with a friend or relative. When paired together, these two have been shown to be a danger to society.
