Does he stand at home plate and stare at this pop ups too?
-
DBAHO & Nuke Yes, I have not been in Buerhle's corner because of his one bad year. But I am willing to accept I was wrong and I am happy he is with us. And yes, I have always been a Garland supporter so it is great to see him do this well. He may never be Schilling or Schmidt but he is darn good for the $ we pay him. And I do not want to hear talk of dumping him until we have a suitable replacement (maybe BMAc?)

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 01:40 AM) Your wish is my command; Thanks for being fair DBAHO. Most of my posts have been supporting Garland like this one.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 01:42 AM) PWN3D AGAIN!!!!!!!!! DBAHO ON A ROLL TONIGHT!!! Uh?????????????? The second post DBAHO made supported me because it was supporting Garland Try to keep up Nuke

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 01:34 AM) Well now that you mention it; I said I may have made the odd Judy comment but 99% of my posts have supported Garland. Funny you did not post any of those.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 01:29 AM) While I don't want to go back and look up all your posts, I doubt you were supporting Jon every step of the way... Nice call, Addy. Go Jon! Go check on my posts before. I dare you. Facts are I have always said we need to reduce our expectations for Jon. When we reach a point where he wants major $ and we think he is not worth it, then we could trade/dump him, but until then there is no downside to keeping him I may have made the odd Judy joke but I have always been in Jon's corner.

Now Go Lima time....beat the twinkies

Great win.

All Garland haters from pervious years can go f*** themselves The fact is this guy is worth every $ for us. Yes, he has not lived up to the expectations yet but for the $ he makes, no way we should let him go anywhere yet. We have a fixed salary team (unlike Red Sox, Yanks) and hence, we need to always retain those players that give us the value for our $. Garland as a #5 is superb value, given he is worth 10 wins every year at least. Now, after his 3rd win tonight going 8 innings strong, his ERA is 2.5. It may not stay there all year, but this is the reason you never dump someone cheap and solid like him. :fyou Garland haters

I used to love the female who used to talk Bears (she was from Green Bay)....cannot remember her name but she was awesome. Anyone remember her name?

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 06:19 PM) You are the king of sample sizes. I'm sure glad that Vinny Castilla is one of the best third basemen ever. And, Ozuna is probably right behind him for that awesome spring he had. Where did I say Carlos was going to suck based on this limited early sample size? Stop reading things when they do not exist. What I posted were facts and simply posted them for discussion. I did not even give my opinion yet. And I am a huge CLee fan (I still remember attending that Sox-Cubs game in Comiskey when CLee hit the grand slam in extra innings to send everyone home like it was yesterday)

0 fer 18.....team at 5-8 now Discuss

QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 03:06 PM) Can we create a "Beating a Dead Horse" icon?? This is as close as I can get: WHY WHY WHY Do we need to discuss the attendance after every game?!? ARRRGH It does not have to be discussed after every game, but it does deserve to be discussed every now and then because it is the single most impt reason we cannot compete consistently. If we had the payroll of the Cubs, we would be winning the division for the past 5 years (no doubt in my mind). And yes, high payroll does not mean you will win automatically, but with Kenny at our helm, I am comfortable with him making those decisions.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 04:15 AM) You've got it wrong, the last part goes Josh Stewart, Arnie Munoz, Jason Grilli, Arnie Munoz, & Felix Diaz pitching in AAA... Priceless. You forgot Danny Wrong on the IR

Also, with Detoilet and Injuns losing, we gain ground everywhere in the Central
-
Great win again.....we stay in first place How many years is Hermy signed for? He has an 0.00 ERA right now

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 06:49 PM) Don't y'all remember in June last year when sox-r-us emphatically stated that the Reds, Pirates, and Brewers were all better than the Astros? Don't waste your time with this joker. To quote Bruce Lee, one must take what is useful and discard what is useless. In the case of sox-r-us, it's all useless. Just put him on ignore. I have never ever said that the Reds, Pirates and Brewers were better than the Astros last year. You must be mistaking me for someone else. If you can find that post, please show me. Prove it.
-
I already showed the #s from this year and his #s from last year show he had 21 HRs away from Coors field. At Coors field lite (Cell), he could easily hit 15-20 HRs in the second half of the year. If Crede keeps up his current hitting surge, then I do not think Vinny is any upgrade but going from experience, Crede will soon revert back his 1 RBI per month crap.
-
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 06:24 PM) We aren't getting Vinny Castilla, I don't even know why you're bringing it up. Hell we'd bring up Fields before acquiring a washed up vet like that. Just because you think we are not acquiring him does not mean someone here cannot make a post saying he would be an upgrade to get ....get over yourself :rolly

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 06:13 PM) 9 games worth of road stats are all that is being represented so far. I agree this is a very small sample size to make any conclusions on yet. Let's see the #s at around trade deadline.
-
The stats are after 12 games not 9 Again, if Crede keeps up his recent streak for the majority of the season, then we are fine. But if not, we better at least see what we need to give up for Vinny.
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 06:06 PM) You missed a couple of paragraphs in that story... All players (especially when young) look at stats. That does not make them selfish. WHen you have the talent to have the gaudy stats like Thomas does, it can only help the team win. What he can do, only a few others can around baseball. While you need role players to win, you cannot win without talent. I guess Babe Ruth was selfish too since he called his own HR at Wrigley. Again, you are wrong.
-
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 02:47 PM) Where did I ever say that he should? I am simply pointing out that he is not all about winning. Winning is not the only thing on Frank's mind, which is what was stated in the post I responded to. By the way Frank is not Barry Bonds, that is a really piss poor comparison. You are so full of crap. Frank has always been about winning. Show some respect to the best Sox player ever.
-
QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 05:00 PM) Much better? Have you even bothered to look at his stats away from Coor's? :puke This thread is such a joke. Now Vinny has the following stats in 2004 as of now Avg - 0.436 HR - 3 RBI - 11 OBP - 0.488 SLG - 0.846 Yeah he sucks outside Coors. You are a joke I think. If Crede keeps his recent run on for most of the season, no need to get Vinny. But if Crede does what he has always done, this is an upgrade. And at 3M/season, it is not that expensive.

QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 11:36 AM) We already decided on the club. I think my "son-in-law" and his wife are coming with us.. Give me a buzz when you're going in there and we'll meet ya. Son in law and his wife????? Wouldn't that wife be your daughter?
