  1. a monkey is better than White. Rick White for Rally Monkey?
  2. Well I guarantee you we wouldn't be having this thread if PK, Maggs, Jose, CLee, Frank, Crede, etc., had been hitting consistently up to this point. This was a move that was supposed to give the team a 1-2-3 combo that could pitch with the best of 'em. If Gar would have lived up to his preseason hype, the team would have the best 1-4 in baseball. It's not Colon's fault this trade "isn't working out."

I always thought Joe B had good speed....
  4. The red ones (way back in the day) DID cause cancer, I thought... that's why they didn't make Red M&M's until the 90's, as far as I understand.
  5. Well if you have the NBA, NHL, and NFL wear uniforms, no problem there. In fact, if you have them each wear their own teams' uniforms, you'd create some problems. As a hockey player, nothing is harder than attempting to discern which of the 30 different jerseys you see are on your team. Even if the colors of the jerseys are different, you sometimes don't even get to see the player's jersey to determine if he's on your team. Half the time I make a pass, I take a quick glance up the ice and rifle the puck to someone wearing the same colored socks or pants, even. In quick-decision sports like those, you can't have so many damn colors flying around the place. Hell, they wear their own uniforms in the skills competition, which has much more star-appeal than the gameitself, something that MLB doesn't have ('cept for the home run derby, for which they have specialized uniforms anyway) For baseball, however, it's a much more orderly sport. A pitcher doesn't look at the batter and get confused what team he's on. An outfielder doesn't accidentally throw the ball to the runner rather than to the cutoff man. A catcher doesn't throw the ball at a base-stealer mistaking him for a fielder. In a sport as easy-going and orderly as baseball, individual teams' uniforms work out quite well, and, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
  6. Hehe... that just reminds me of Dave Chapelle in Undercover Brother, the dumbest of all dumb (and funny as s***) movies in recent memory
  7. That was an INCREDIBLE play by Frank. I believe it was in the first Dodger game, right? I couldn't believe he made it, and he was the happiest guy in the world at that moment. That's one advantage that Frank does have on GIDPaul: height. He can stretch for so many more balls than PK can, and that (coupled with Jose's arm) can account for probably 5 or 6 baserunners a week. It means more range in getting those errant throws from the left of the infield, and it also means, when the throw's on the mark, it gets to his glove slightly quicker.
  8. We'd all then be Cub fans....
  9. As Herb Brooks said, "to win, you don't have to like every one of your teammates, but you have to be able to stand each other." In other words, Frank's bound to be bashed when the team's going bad, and those naysayers are going to start to shut up and start talking about his on-field contributions when the team's winning and he's producing. That's the way I've come to accept it.
  10. Agree. Also, again from a marketing standpoint, there are many casual fans that tune in to watch the game that don't know who plays for what team. By having these uniforms, it would make the game that much more difficult to sell to those non-fans that may tune into the game, since that fan may not know who that player he saw in the AS game plays for.
  11. To back up all the people that say not to blelieve the media's image of Thomas, I fully agree... who the hell would ever agree with the same people that portray Scammin' Sammy as a saint?
  12. That's ridiculous. Another revenue-generating ploy.
  13. Yes! Go 'Stros! Especially since they play the Yankees now!
  14. cw, Remind me...Since when does singing the 7th inning stretch, or even entering Wrigley Field require having baseball knowledge? Since Harry Carey went to the Cubs' booth.
  15. Hehehe.... you gotta see my AIM buddy icon... IM me if you wanna check it out (JTC2784)
  16. The plane ride home will likely cure whatever illness they had today. LOL I think we'll see Kong back at 1B Tuesday with Frank DHing for some unknown reason. I doubt it. Jerry has already said that Pauly will go to DH in Chicago, with Frank at first. Forgot the green rule. Sorry.
  17. Not to mention the fact that KC would never trade Beltran to the Sox, and, like you said, he'd be expensive as s*** to sign with Bora$ as his agent.

    Definitely agree there.
  20. And I saw some good baserunning and situational hitting. Loaiza's bunt definitely wouldn't have been laid down had there been a DH for the game. Graf stealing 3rd. It was a fun game to watch, with the exception of the inside-the-park home run by Lo Duca. Maybe JM should just have the pitchers hit every game... maybe it forces him to make them play "smallball"
  21. I particularly liked Carlos' bomb. Just a couple of pitches after he pulled one about 15 feet foul, smokes another one right down the same line, but 40 feet farther toward center.

    Being a fan

I took that liberty myself... Seibu Lions.
  23. Quote from Rosenbloom: Scammin' Sammy responded to Mark Grace's cork prank by noting how he outlasted Grace as a Cub. Grace has a World Series ring with Arizona. Scammin' Sammy doesn't have so much as a division title. Ballgame. LOLOLOLOL!!!
