  1. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Apr 1, 2006 -> 06:20 PM) Its not an excuse because he makes more money than you or I but he actually doesn't make that much money for an athlete Still over $350k, correct? Either way, I stand by my assertion.
  2. The kid's making how much money (with the potential for making over $100M in his career) and he couldn't spare $10 for a cab??
  3. I know for the last extended WorldCrossing shutdown, almost everyone from that board congregated over here... and some still post here (like Rex Hudler)... just tossing a topic around to see if other WXing users are having the same issues trying to access the site as I am..... Sorry if this is wasting bandwidth, but I just wanted to throw it out there....
  4. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 05:34 PM) Adkins might have to clear waivers if you sent him down before Aug 31st. I don't think he would have to... wouldn't he have had to clear waivers when he went down out of spring training (or whenever he went down the first time... can't remember) since he was already on the 40-man?
  5. What's the latest poll result? Do they honestly think that northsiders can really stuff a ballot more than southsiders???
  6. QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 03:56 PM) O okay. they answered it for me... easier to type "Burly" than "Buehrle." Kinda like typing "El D" for El Duque, "ARow" for Rowand, etc....
  7. QUOTE(Al Lopez's Ghost @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 02:45 PM) With a twinight doubleheader in Texas (Tuesday, I believe), we need another starter. And it seems to me that with August 31 coming up fast, wouldn't having BMac on the roster be more potentially important for the playoffs than Jon Adkins? Injury insurance for one of our starters. Now, I realize Texas pounded lumps on BMac last time, but he's gotta get over that hump some time. Any thoughts? I'd love to see that (if nobody here knows me, I'm one of the worldcrossing members who came over here during the "fallout" season for wxing a couple of years ago). I've suggested all along that BMac should come up for relief duty to face ML pitching in a more controlled manner like we did with Burly. I also think that he's just a better option in a close ballgame than Adkins is at this point.
  8. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 03:03 PM) hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone on this site has mlb.tv, and if they do, if they are an out-of-market subscriber so that they get white sox games? I am stuck at work today, with nothing to do, but cannot use headphones or have the speakers on. I would be deeply in debt to, and happy reward, whomever would be willing to allow me to "share" their mlb.tv name for the day. I would just order it, but doing so in-market would result in not being able to see any games anyway. PM me or respond in here. you can sign up for a free 2-week trial of MLB.tv (with the condition that you have to endure a "free trial" for sports illustrated... 4 free issues, then they start billing you for more... but you can cancel at any time) right now.
  9. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 07:03 PM) I know that many here would jump off the ledge but if we packaged Crede, B-Mac, Anderson and another top guy (Gio, Sweeney, Fields, etc.) for Oswalt and Ensberg I'd jump for joy and clear some time in October no way... Ensberg's horrible away from the Juicebox....
  10. (Numbers courtesy of Yahoo! Sports, by the way....)
  11. Yes, those are career numbers (he's only got 582 ML AB's). Granted he's been the #2 hitter mostly after the trade deadline(s) when he always seems to catch on, but I'm not sure if it should be considered a cause or effect of his spot in the order.
  12. (I haven't posted here in quite some time...) ARow would be my ideal candidate for the #2 hole. Here are his numbers at various spots in the order (as I've posted on WXing a couple of times... I'm only posting the spots in the order with a substantial number of AB's) #1: 43 AB #2: 177 AB, .345 AVG, .406 OBP #3: 11 AB #4: 8 AB #5: 3 AB #6: 37 AB #7: 152 AB, .243 AVG, .301 OBP #8: 143 AB, .224 AVG, .266 OBP #9: 8 AB Why NOT give him the #2 spot at this point?
  13. Hmm... what's the record for most K's by 3 guys in the same lineup in one year? Sosa and Hernandez could break that record alone
  14. Speaking of cork... I found a huge strip of cork in my closet in my dorm room for the summer up here... anyone going to the June 29 game??
  15. I don't get how Mark Prior isn't good enough to beat out E-Lo for the best starting pitcher, but beats out him and everyone else in the city for MVP
  16. Past, I think you definitely needed to discover those icons over at WXing

    Manuel

Don't forget consistent sub-par defense. At least the White Sox are consistent in something ..... besides losing Well that part you can maybe blame on KW and Schu... but nonetheless....

    Manuel

The baserunning hasn't improved a lick since he got here in '98. In fact, I would go so far as to say it's gone downhill. The team shows no life. That's a manager's fault; to rally the troops. Last night was an example of him being outmanaged.
  19. (and I apologize for having brought it up before)
  20. It'll probably surprise enough people that don't know anything about the game or JM's job performance to have one voice somewhere write some ignorant column about it.
  21. No need to put a disclaimer on this. If they can get through what I've said in this thread, they can handle what you've said in this thread. I've outdone you majorly, hun!!! NOBODY can beat what I said in this thread. But thanks for trying! Meh, it was for the children Speaking of that... how young is the youngest one of us? I think someone is just graduating 8th grade But we digress..... f***ING START PLAYING LIKE YOU ENJOY THE f***ING GAME! YOU'RE GETTING PAID MILLIONS OF DOLLARS TO PLAY A KIDS' GAME! DON'T COMPLAIN IF FANS BOO YOU. DON'T GO HALF-ASSED ON GROUNDERS. DON'T POINT FINGERS. YOU'RE THE LUCKIEST BUNCH OF MEN ON THE PLANET, SO YOU SHOULD WAKE UP EVERY DAY AND THANK GOD AND YOUR PARENTS FOR WHAT YOU HAVE! There's my rant for the day.....
  22. We've had this discussion on here before... I think someone somewhere WILL bring in the race card thinking they're bringing up some novel f***ing idea and a fresh view when they are, in fact, completely out of line.
  23. No need to put a disclaimer on this. If they can get through what I've said in this thread, they can handle what you've said in this thread. I've outdone you majorly, hun!!! 24. I thought JM made the move for Marte, then Alou countered with Aurilia to hit for Bernard? That is exactly what happened. I didn't see, I was just basing it on what I read in other posts. If that is the case, then Manuel could have done nothing else. You can't change pitchers again. Marte had to pitch to Aurilia. Like I said on 2 other threads, this is what I would have done had I been JM. Alfonzo at bat, runners on 2nd and 3rd, I believe. Colon pitching, Marte warming up. JM HAS TO KNOW THAT AURILIA IS ON THE BENCH. Bring in Marte against Alfonzo and his .214 average. Sometimes you should be able to count on Marte for a K. If Aurilia comes in to PH, you have 1B open to walk him. If Aurilia PHs for Bernard after Alfonzo gets out, he's faced his one batter and you bring in Tom Gordon to have the precious Righty-Righty matchup. So many more possibilities would have opened had JM put in Marte ONE batter earlier.
