  1. "Both sides." What does Timmy call him back then, Ty Cobb? One of the racist members of the '47 Dodgers who got put in their place by Pee Wee Reese?
  2. https://theathletic.com/3323043/2022/05/20/are-the-white-sox-in-trouble-who-should-get-the-cubs-next-statue-chicago-baseball-authority/?source=spotrac&pc=spotrac40off2 Really interesting article by Jon Greenberg. Called LaRussa a lake duck manager, among other things...eventually questioned the quality of the entertainment value of the current product on the field.
  3. And then a club option year for $25 million.
  4. This guy throws about the same velocity as Danks or Parque (before injury) but man is there a lot of variety and movement....and the cutter is such a Yankee tradition.
  5. Cutter is killing the Sox. Basically can't hit anything under 90 mph.
  6. He had that opportunity last year and fizzled. And even if he's healthy for the rest of this season...not sure by definition that's extended or not.
  7. Cortes leading baseball in ERA. Anderson over 350 now. Cueto/Taillon then Kopech/Severino on Sunday night. Presumably Cease on Tuesday at home against Boston.
  8. Out for the season with TJ. Severino and Taillon tmrw.
  9. We will see...if the division lead gets in the 6-7 range they might have no choice. Even then I believe LaRussa's preference is going to be a major leaguer via trade, someone of course from the NL like Brandon Drury on the Reds.
  10. There are $5.5 million reasons plus the small buyout. This is just not the type of move the Sox typically make unless it's for a legit top prospect.
  11. Shockingly the Twins have already scored three in the first and and still hitting against Lynch.
  12. Sirotka lol?
  13. Does anyone have the list of others w Sox? Durham? Cameron? Pods?

  15. Feel more confident about splitting a DH than winning any of three individual games. Just need 1-2, but hope for 2-1.
  16. How many veteran starters with QOs have struggled kicking the season off in the middle? That’s essentially what he is doing. Think we have to prefer preserving Kopech somehow for that playoff rotation. Might not be possible. Could end up like a less dramatic Strasburg situation where they announce an innings cap, especially if Rodon goes down in SF. We shall see.
  17. Cueto/Cortes, Kopech/Taillon and Sunday night likely Cease but could be Keuchel (TBD for both right now)
  18. Clearly we need to hire Carlos Pena as our hitting coach. Also hard not to think of those teams without Giambi's brother and that crazy play at that plate with Jeter and how it played such a role in his eventual fate in life.
  19. https://www.cnn.com/2022/05/19/golf/justin-thomas-2022-pga-championship-prices-spt-intl/index.html Thought of Greg775 right away when reading this story. As well as Tray (Rand). $18 beers! $16 garden salads!! Thomas replied to the tweet with the report expressing his incredulity. "$18(!!!!!!) for a beer... uhhhh what. Gotta treat the fans better than that!" the 29-year-old said. When one twitter user challenged Thomas as to where he thought the large winner's prize pot came from, Thomas said humorously: "Tv deals, ticket sales, corporate sponsors, etc. from the looks of it if the concession stands were factored into our purse we would be playing for $15 million." In his pre-tournament press conference, Thomas was asked about the prices, and he once again expressed his surprise and disappointment. He said it was something that had been commented on in the changing room among his fellow players.
  20. Dealing with minor leg issue (can just imagine Fathom's reaction to that description) May 19, 2022 Moncada felt discomfort in his leg during Thursday's game against the Royals, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. ANALYSIS Moncada didn't exit the game and went 1-for-5 with two strikeouts. Merkin added that Moncada was moving around fine after the game, and manager Tony La Russa also downplayed the issue. Given that context, the issue doesn't appear likely to cost Moncada time, but it will be worth confirming that he is in the lineup to start the White Sox weekend series against the Yankees. https://www.rotowire.com/baseball/player.php?id=13652
  21. That looks like something they brought over from an abandoned amusement park, lol. We can also all rest pretty assured of the fact that Yolbert and/or Romy Gonzalez will never be future MLB stars...but it speaks to the desperation of the fanbase to will them into everyday playing time at the next level, the back-up QB syndrome. And at least this week gave everyone (not so into prospect buzz) Davis Martin to track much more carefully, along with Mena and Burke.
  22. Yes, I spent 2 1/2 hours in the middle of the night to watch the Sox lose because that's somehow more enjoyable. Reread the game thread again until the time it was 3-1/4-1. I don't think hardly ANYONE in the entire thread was overly optimistic. If it was, who was that person who remained confident throughout the entire game they were going to win? I even argued with Parkman that Luis Robert was not going to have a "ceiling" of 25 homers despite missing lots of time the first month. Fathom has been cursing more this season than any year in memory. That really sticks out to me. When he gets fed up. Most of the mods have already completely turned on TLR, it's not just Balta, Ray Ray and a few others, it's EVERYONE. We are all watching the same blatant mistakes and not second guessing in hindsight. I'm not going to go as far as saying that hoping for them to lose is a logical stance, because it doesn't guarantee anything more than JR and Hahn doubling down in their stubbornness. The only times I've desired losses before was for draft pick positioning when they were clearly out of the playoffs (not that we took advantage of those picks other than Anderson and Rodon) and when I was hoping that Robin Ventura would mercifully be put out his misery one of those non competitive seasons when a long long losing streak might have meant a change in the manager's spot, even though it would have just been a cosmetic change. In fact, Ventura deserves a ton of credit for "taking one for the team" and shielding Hahn, JR and KW from criticism over all those barren years. It's hard to be too critical of him when he was/is one of your favorite players in Sox history and definitely didn't want to be manager, everyone knew that no matter how hard KW wanted to convince everyone that if war broke out Ventura would be one of the generals he would choose to lead us into battle.
  23. You're anti-American if you don't like Top Gun, lol. Fwiw, I get it. You don't have four of the main actors from the first film that wasn't all that great to begin with but had one of the best soundtracks and "cool aerial" cinematography for that time period. Tom Cruise is forever polarizing. And Val Kilmer has always had a reputation as being one of Hollywood's greatest jerks.
  24. I think all of us will still take the 4-11 crash landing at the end of 2012 when it seemed like we might actually be able to overtake the Tigers in a season where we used 13 rookie pitchers and played defense so much better than the last season of Ozzie/Buehrle.
  25. TLR 4D-CHESS GENIUS! That's why we're out playing our expected W/L record by 3 games, lol. The old Phil Rogers go-to that quickly falls apart for anyone who has followed this team on a daily basis. Minnesota 21-17 (actual 22-16) Cleveland 18-17 (actual 16-19) see, TLR is far better than Terry Francona! White Sox 16-22 (actual 19-19) We really should be thankful we're not a full 5 games back at this point (wait for the weekend!) and leaking even more oil. And that 2012 story line of the White Sox playing the role of the Tigers and then advancing to the World Series will be all we hear for the remainder of the season. I think EVERYONE would take a 4-0 sweep in the World Series over NOT making the post-season...although that was pretty much the beginning of the end for the Tigers' window as they gave way to the Royals and Indians.
