https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/27/tech/reddit-wallstreetbets-private-gamestop/index.html They’re claiming everything the last 24 hours (going dark/private) is unconnected to Reddit itself.

End of message lol?

Obama/Epstein 2022 The funny thing here is many have speculated for years about Theo wanting to get more involved in politics, charity work or just something outside of baseball in general.

The AL Central sucks. Cleveland and Minnesota fans absolutely detest their owners...Indians’ fans have now gone through four rebuilds since the late 90s. Minnesota can’t even win a single playoff game, but no spending other than an aging Donaldson. The Ilitch kids in Detroit are the polar opposites of their dad in terms of doing whatever it takes to field a World Series contender. The Royals were villains with penny pinching David Glass of Wal-Mart fame but at least have John Sherman now. They’re the only team with fans currently at least neutral.

That ship has already sailed with Cuban and MLB, but point taken.
-
But they’re looking at losing Bryant, Baez and/or Contreras in the next couple of years. No Epstein, although maybe that’s a positive now in some ways. No unfettered spending to climb out of the mess. Declining assets pretty much across the board. Don’t even have Len Kasper. Your neighborhood has been gentrified/yuppified/Starbucksized. I suppose if you are a Rizzo or Kyle Hendricks fan, it’s okay, but that’s like being an Abreu or Sale fan five years ago, minus the relatively recent WS (for Cubs). No Joe Maddon cult of personality to outsell Abreu jerseys and hawk Bunny’s Beverage Depot.
-
But not Minoso or Shoeless Joe Jackson (don’t think he has ever take a strong stance there, or I must have missed it.)
-
I guess Liam Hendriks was only referring to SoxTalk discussion of players/speculated FA’s but not our collective ownership analysis and general (lack of) positivity, lol. Otoh, Madrigal’s family would be an interesting interview, how many doubters they have faced over the past decade.
-
But that boat has set sail over the last 3-5 years, as he’s increasingly outnumbered and isolated by the new guard of owners...

Let’s just hope half the world isn’t finger-clicked out of existence. And wonder if the guy with $22 million off a $50,000 gamble is still sitting pretty with all that money...did he get out or go truly insane and double down again? Or will legal consequences eventually do him in as he gets made an example out of by the good ‘ol boys club?

Haha...you can have a career in political science.

"I meet these people they call them 'the elite.' These people. I look at them, I say, 'That's elite?' We got more money, we got more brains, we got better houses, apartments, we got nicer boats, we're smarter than they are, and they say they're elite? We're the elite. You're the elite. We're the elite." "So I said the other day, let's keep calling these people—and let's face it, they've been stone-cold losers, the elite, the elite—so let them keep calling themselves the elite. But we're going to call ourselves—and remember you are indeed, you work harder, but you are indeed smarter than them—let's call ourselves from now on the super-elite. We're the super-elite.” Quote unknown, haha? Whose side would Ayn Rand and Alan Greenspan be on here, exactly?

Going by the Twins’ twenty year history, the odds here aren’t great...of getting past the divisional series.
-
Not going to experiment in a must-compete year. Just don’t see them trusting him or Collins.

Now at $15. https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/AMC?p=AMC&.tsrc=fin-srch

January’s crop of stocks with big pops also include NIO (NIO), AMC Entertainment (AMC), and Robinhood favorite Plug Power (PLUG). One of the things these retail investors seem to love is anything with the potential for big gains — often high-volatility stocks or cryptocurrency. (The current speculative environment is best summed up by my colleague’s tweet Tuesday at 4 p.m.: “CASINO CLOSED.”) Also on Jan. 26, the investor behind the GameStop trade on r/wallstreetbets posted a screenshot of his portfolio that went viral — it showed he had turned his position from around $50,000 to more than $22 million. These sorts of successes and articles (like this one, even) will likely convince others to try their hand at speculative short-term mega gains. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/fighting-100-mini-mike-tysons-the-powerful-influence-of-reddit-trade-141009102.html Interesting they’re helping out AMC, as its owned by Chinese conglomerate Dalian Wanda and has been speculated near bankruptcy for months due to Covid and over leveraging in the acquisition from a general standpoint (this is true of Chinese-owned US assets in general, recently, if you look at Anbang, Fosun Group, HNA, etc.).

Nah, they’ll just go with rotating DH with Profar getting 50% of the at-bats along with Nola/Caratini and rotating the other regulars through except for Tatis and Grisham.

Twins sign Simmons to 1-year/$10.5MM deal

Not to mention Max Kepler and Sano/Donaldson. Cruz isn’t a necessity. Then Arraez/Polanco/Adrianza for 2B/utility. -

https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/mlb-free-agency-andrelton-simmons-reportedly-joins-twins-giants-close-to-deal-with-tommy-la-stella/ If they can move Polanco off SS...they’ve already markedly improved their defensive lineup from last year. Rosario was lousy too, in that regard. Then they have Royce Lewis coming right behind. Lewis could also end in CF if Buxton leaves, or Polanco, possibly moving out there. Looks like Kiriloff has mostly played 1B/RF, then you have Larnach as well for corner OF/DH. Which makes one think they will spend on pitching instead of Cruz. -
Apparently enjoys life on the West Coast...and SF a massive upgrade over Oaktown.

Check all local hospitals for Fathom....and Madrigal family condition updates. Oh, thats’s right, he wanted Kolton Wong, but maybe LaStella as well.

The Wainwright to the Cards Thread
caulfield12 replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It’s amazing in retrospect we gave Derek Holland so much in a non-compete year but now can’t seem to locate $6-8 million (at least not yet) when we’re actually trying to compete. Or Ivan Nova...I mean, I realize we were protecting the likes of Cease, Lopez and Kopech, but that money would come in quite handy now. -
Did Ty Cobb “respect” the game with his style of play? It’s a very slippery slope, especially when you start incorporating off-the-field issues or political stances.

Depends how much you believe in guys like Vladdy, Biggio and Bichette...as well as their health.
