The Ilitch kids in Detroit are the polar opposites of their dad in terms of doing whatever it takes to field a World Series contender. The Royals were villains with penny pinching David Glass of Wal-Mart fame but at least have John Sherman now. They’re the only team with fans currently at least neutral.

That ship has already sailed with Cuban and MLB, but point taken.

But they’re looking at losing Bryant, Baez and/or Contreras in the next couple of years. No Epstein, although maybe that’s a positive now in some ways. It’s amazing in retrospect we gave Derek Holland so much in a non-compete year but now can’t seem to locate $6-8 million (at least not yet) when we’re actually trying to compete.
