  1. So much for this series...yet people around the country seem to be watching at normal/ratings high numbers, or close to it. Crickets here though. Not much to be said. Where does Lebron eventually end up? Philly? Boston (would have to deal Brown/Hayward/Irving)? Houston? LAL? San Antonio? Back to Cleve?
  2. Cease should be above Dunning based on +upside/TOR potential...might even have him over Hansen as of this exact moment in time.
  3. The Kansas City Royals announced today that they have acquired right-handed pitcher Elvis Luciano and left-handed pitcher Gabe Speier from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for outfielder Jon Jay. Luciano will be assigned to the Burlington Royals (Rookie), while Speier will be assigned to Northwest Arkansas (AA).
  4. Hansen can't be ranked ahead of them because he hasn't proven that he will even pitch this year in a regular MILB game...and I'd have Cease in that list as well, ahead of Dunning.
  5. The funny thing is that Smith was much better offensively, but the overall fWAR numbers were way to the advantage of Omar last year, I think he ended up around 1.5 or so?
  6. You can't be a Piranha and have over a 900 OPS and over 10 homers, lol...
  7. vs. CHW 26 7 11 5 0 3 9 4 0 5 1 1 .423 .500 .962 1.462 Escobar's line against us in 2018 (coming into this game)
  8. Even Jerry "Gandhi" Manuel would have been out there with his spectacles on that one...especially for your future franchise cornerstone guy.
  9. Contact Information. The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball Robert D. Manfred Jr., Commissioner 245 Park Avenue, 31st Floor New York, NY 10167 Phone: 212-931-7800 Fax: 212-949-5654 (can't believe they still exist)
  10. If Renteria doesn't even go out there and at least speak up...he needs to be replaced at the end of this season. It might be the case already.
  11. WHAT THE _______????????????? That was also out of the strike zone, just not as egregious as the SECOND strikeout.
  12. Moncada should just flail away at the first pitch even if 3 feet outside to make a point...
  13. This is exactly the point of the "starve the government" philosophy. See Ryan, Paul. He has been waiting for this moment since the 1980 election of Reagan. Here's how it goes: Appoint directors at HUD, Energy, Education, Interior, State....who want to eviscerate their departments. Then you can claim.....well, we don't want to burden future generations with $21+ trillion in debt....and we simply can't afford to cut ANY military spending, so, what do we chop off? Foreign Aid Head Start Medicaid (just "block grant" everything, let the states go bankrupt) Vocational/training/GED programs Social Security must be pared back, withholding increased or retirement age bumped up yet again Health insurance (see Social Security above, can't afford it...let's stay with our private solution, the Top 20% can keep their own doctor and everyone else is basically screwed) Infrastructure...well, we can basically tax the people twice by using partial Federal money with state matches then turn around and tack on use fees, tolls for highways and bridge crossings, tax the delivery trucks for Amazon at 10X the normal rate because Bezos is EVIL EVIL EVIL, bad bad guy, trust me Quality/affordable daycare....FORGET ABOUT IT!!! Meanwhile, we can put ex-soldiers or extra police at every door/exit at every school in America (who pays? who cares!!! just not the Federal government)...turn lots more Federal prisons into "for profit" enterprises for warehousing all these illegal immigrants and separate detention centers (when we're not losing track of 1,500 kids) for the dependent children....if we separate them, then we can have TWICE as many for-profit detention centers, WIN WIN!!!
  14. Wasn't he leading the majors in SB% over the last year or two...? Caught just once...maybe?
  15. There's calculated AGGRESSIVENESS...and then there's whatever that was.
  16. Abreu and Davidson have the same exact 881 OPS right now....
  17. https://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/nothing-but-positives-about-white-sox-38th-round-pick-matt-klug/ Well, who says there aren't any uplifting, feel good stories in sports these days? Liking Hostetler more and more everyday. “[Losing my parents] kept me humbled. You know how valuable every day of life is.” White Sox scout Kevin Burrell suggested the selection of Klug, who was drafted in the same round as Mark Buehrle in 1998. While Klug won’t actually sign and play, his selection has been in the works for weeks. “I was on a plane reading an article [about Klug], and it really struck a chord with me,” Sox scouting director Nick Hostetler said. “Kevin was fully on board and we wanted to make sure it was something Matthew would be encouraged by. To do something to help a kid who has been through what he has, you’re proud you can do it.” When Burrell called Wednesday to tell him he had been drafted, Klug broke down in tears. “I was speechless,” said Klug, who will get a jersey and other gifts from the Sox. “My coach knew it for about a month. What I’ve gone through, it just meant everything to me.”
  18. We've been talking A LOT about players declining at age 33-35, but Zobrist's putting up an 840 OPS, fwiw...granted, he's benefiting from getting the best possible match-ups with opposing pitchers, but worth noting there are anomalies out there. Meanwhile, Q's outdueling Aaron Nola...didn't see that one coming. ERA almost back below 4.
  19. Basabe's almost 22....time to see whether he can handle AA. Would expect an average in the .220's or .230's out of him for those first couple of months before he can make adjustments.
  20. White Sox pitching is 50% of it, although he's had some really underrated seasons offensively (cumulatively against all teams)...
  21. Can we all contact Joe Torre or Randy Marsh (Director, Major League Umpires) and stage a "mass e-mail protest" of that CB Bucknor call???
  22. Wish Harrelson was doing this game...."You gotta be bleepin' me!!!!!" He should be allowed to go out in some type of "blaze of glory" (minus the involvement of the Sheen/Estevez brothers).
  23. That called strike against Moncada didn't even look close at MLB At-Bat...
  24. How many total bases has Escobar had this series against the Sox so far? Escaped with only one run surrendered, but Santiago's going to be lucky to go 5 at the rate he's currently slothing along at...
