  1. Advancing runners...not exactly in 2005 first half mode with Iguchi and Pods.
  2. That's why you keep Viciedo. The ball just flies off his bat when he doesn't even take a full swing.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 06:26 PM) If you're using "why didn't we get Bedard" as something to complain about as a failure of the GM, then yeah, I'm going to criticize. Maybe, maybe, maybe he'd be better in a spot start...but at the very best it's another crapshoot. We would have been better off just keeping Guthrie off the Royals. Well, at least he was part of a win against the Tigers too, unfortunately it wasn't pitching for us.
  4. Liriano with a 4.5 ERA for the game, lol. Almost inconceivable to have 7 walks in 4 innings and only give up 2 earned runs. Of course, the problem is that our crappy bullpen has to enter in the 5th or definitely the 6th, but we are still only a bloop and a blast from tying it.
  5. 7 walks. LOL. All time thread jinx...should be banned for September just for starting that thread. BTW, Fielder hit .370 in August.
  6. I don't think we could take Liriano and Floyd on the same team. Geez, as exasperating as they are, they can both turn around and be dominant in stretches. Omogrosso and Septimo warming up. YIKES.
  7. Luckily, that ball didn't bounce out of Rios' glove. It hit the heel and stayed in. That would have been a complete disaster.
  8. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 06:18 PM) I do not give one damn about the Detroit Tigers. Kenny Williams' teams have difficulty making the postseason. And until last season, the Tigers could never beat the Twins either, only in 2006. Should Dombrowski also be fired? He's had more money to spend than Williams.
  9. Cy Young could have started for the White Sox and it still wouldn't matter because the offense can't score against Scherzer or get a hit with RISP. Still 0 for the series in a game and a half in that category. Not unlike the Tigers in KC. Thanks to Dyson and Cain, or the Sox would be looking at trailing the Tigers in the standings after tonight by 1 game instead of still ahead by 1.
  10. QUOTE (Caesar @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 06:13 PM) This team has a history of not manning up. I care less what the Tigers do. The SOx control their own destiny and they are chocking on their tiny nuts. It happened to the Twins against the Sox in 2008...the Tigers the following season against the Twins. It's not ONLY the White Sox. And let's face it, the Tigers have a lot more talent, overall, than the White Sox.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 06:10 PM) Sale and Q were likely going to need a few starts skipped the rest of the way (or at least I hope so). If we just had an "average" AL bullpen this year, we would have had that luxury of not being tied with the Tigers on Sunday. We would have been 3-4 games up on them, no matter what happened in this series. Now every game will have that "do or die" feeling in September...unless KW really is ultra-confident Floyd will be back again, and soon.
  12. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 06:08 PM) A staple of this GM's teams. And what did the Tigers do after they swept us last time? They basically fell apart. Are they weak mentally? Two days ago, after the Royals swept them, half the Tigers' fanbase was ready to give up. The season changes on a day by day, and inning by inning basis. 2-0 is far from an insurmountable lead.
  13. One more out to stay alive in this game. Garcia is dangerous.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 06:04 PM) KW really needed to find a pitcher during the waiver period. As soon as Floyd went down, there should have been a rush to find someone. I don't think ANYONE, let alone KW, expected that Axelrod could go out and basically throw 5 quality starts in 7 tries. That's revisionist thinking, based on how he's pitched a couple of times out this year. He's also been lit up like a Christmas tree.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 06:02 PM) He won't be back next year with the Sox Still, he's pitched pretty darned well in 5/7 starts. That's not bad at all for a 5th starter and someone who basically cost us nothing in return. Without him, where would we be?
  16. They might as well pull him now and put in Santiago.
  17. So much for the theory that Cooper could "fix" Liriano. Well, losing the last 5 games in a row against DET has been a total team effort of badness. And losing 17/20 at Comerica is Royals/Mariners bad.
  18. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 05:59 PM) Why is it that the OF always seems way out of position? There was no prayer to get to that triple by Boesch. None.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 05:59 PM) It's amazing how terrible the Sox have played on this road trip. Doing everything you're not supposed to, it seems. The starting pitching has gone to crap, and the hitting struggles are well documented. It would be 8 losses in the last 9 games on the road.
  20. And of course Cabrera will stick the dagger in. Let's hope that 4th inning and predictable Thornton implosion in the 7th doesn't end up defining the season as the key turning point.
  21. Liriano has a 6+ ERA career-wise in Comerica. 4 walks now. Stupid thread jinx. Like my decision to try MLB.TV again, every time the White Sox start playing like crap!
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 06:50 PM) Did any pitchers actually get called up? Danks' season is trending like Flowers last year. Started hot, then fading. Have no belief whatsover that Jordan Danks would light up Max Scherzer. None.
  23. Peralta is horrible at SS. Youk just didn't have a chance because he missed the bag there and couldn't get back.
  24. White Sox have the easiest schedule remaining statistically in the entire AL. That's a change from previous seasons down the stretch.
  25. Scherzer and Verlander 1st and 2nd in the majors in K's. At one point, Liriano was tops in K's per 9 IP.
