Nobody's praising him..... some of us just can't figure out why others can't give Carlos just a little bit of credit for hitting a GS..... slump or no slump. if he would have worked the count to 3-1 and then hit the granny..he would have gotten praise....do you want carlos to take that approach in every at bat from now on??..swing at everything..strike or not??? its a perfect example of why he has stranded so many runners from 3rd with less than 2 outs...next couple of weeks..he wil strand more than his fair share...probably more than anyone else o nthe team..then when he hits his 7th career grand slam we will have this same conversation all over again... carlos is in his 5th year..he should be a leader by now..a guy other players look up too...he still acts like a rookie...the guy just doesnt get it How come everyone else is so concerned about the count when Lee hits a GS but not whenever any other White Sox player hits a HR? Lee said today in the post game that he was looking for a pitch that he could drive to RF but the pitcher hung a pitch he could drive. Would you be happier if he hit a single on the same pitch? a pitch to drive to rf??...how would carlos know??...he swung at 3 pitches that wernt close to being strikes...he hit that grand slam off a ball that almost bounced on the ground....maybe carlos should take up golf he should have had a 3-0 count..i would have been much happier if he ran the count to 3-0 and then maybe fought off a good pitch or two and then got a real pitch he could hit to RF and drove it for a sacrifice fly...i would have rather seen that..because then i would know that next time carlos came up in that situation , maybe with the game on the line , that he would actually have a plan to get the job done... im complaining about the method...his at bat in that situation was not what a team oriented player would do..its why he is barely hitting 200 this year and each year since 2000 his average has dropped with no significant increase in power... wasnt the big arguement about carlos this off season that he has matured as a hitter and has developed much more patience because of his 75 walks last year???..and wasnt his detractor's arguement that carlos will be the same old carlos come opening day???..where's that patience from last year??..it wasnt in that at bat..it hasnt been here all year...who is right so far??? id love to see carlos develop...im just tired of waiting

it was a good pitch if you had a 9 iron in your hand....he hit it off his shoe tops....i think it was his vlad guerrero imitation

you have been saying all along what a lazy ass hole this guy is
-
there could be some truth to that...maybe the sox have to get on him to work hard...or maybe kiju(?) , however the hell you spell his name , is just going by how DJ was in san diego...i wouldnt automatically discount what he says..maybe he got some info we dont..but id also like so independant verification too

thats gonna cost me first place in the soxnet fantasy baseball league

No I knew the numbers pretty much but if I hadn't posted them people would doubt what I was saying. Once more I am not slagging Loaiza and I really like him, just putting out something he has struggled with in the past, so we can all be even more impressed when he overcomes it this year. Mathew, now the game has been over long enough I can think about what you are saying. Loaiza has looked mighty good so far. A friend in Toronto has the same reservations you have but it is my hope that at this point he knows he has to work to do it for a whole season. I think the performance today to take the KC series with all the possible distractions was a real step up, at least psychologically. And confidence is always a part of the equation. hopefully at 31 , probably knowing this might be his last shot because he had to sign a minor league contract , he will have gained the maturity and develop the work ethic needed to put him over the hump as for cooper..ive held off on him for awhile to see what happens...but he sure seems to be getting the most out of these guys so far...hope it keeps up

tuesday game...i remember carlos lee up in that game with either a runner on 3rd or runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out..carlos pops up and we end up not scoring...that was a wasted opportunity this is the whole point of my post..while carlos was successful today..his approach , if he keeps doing what he is doing will have him failing in those situation much more than the league average and definately much more than a winning team should tolerate... its the approach , not the results of this one at bat that im complaining about..that approach ,whisch is not only being applied by carlos is why we were all complaining about this teams lack of success in nthose situations, looking flat ect..this one at bat wont fix that problem
-
No s***. The guy is in a slump but comes through with a grand slam and still people b**** and moan. when he starts to play the game the right way and acts like a team player then ill quit b****ing and moaning about him he thinks he is vlad guerrero..he's not
-
but he's a politican already
-
unlike you old timers no of us have even come close to sniffing a world series..so youll have to excuse our pessimism
-
time will tell..at the very worst though , if he returns to old habits he is atleast holding down the fort until danny wright gets back
-
i am happy..im happy as hell that loaiza is throwing 4 pitches for strikes today...
-
boy was marte pissed in the dugout...i dont think he will make that mistake again
-
ill be happy with carlos when he approaches the game the right way...had he took those first three pitches , ran the count to 3-0 , maybe fought off some tough pitches and looked to drive the ball into RF for a sac fly..had he done that i would be singing his praises... what did carlos do??/..he swung at every pitch and got lucky...for god sakes he hit it off his shoe tops...do you think he will be successful doing that all year??..why do you think he had 2 rbi coming into this game and he has probably made more great rbi opportunities than anyone on the team..he wont be facing a bum like chris george all year..
-
you cant fire him while we are winning...but if we get to july and kenny is dealing players away for next year..manuel has to go..he has to win this year to keep his job..if he wins it all this year he gets a long term contract...this is the make or break year for jerry
-
carlos had the bases juiced one out in the first..swung at a bad pitch and hit into a 6-4-3 inning ending DP..in this last at bat he swung at 2 pitches way , i mean way out of the z0ne to go down 0-2..then as someone else mentioned in this thread hit what should have been ball 3 over the wall on a golf shot off his shoe tips..we are not going to be facing chris george all season long...all this at bat did was reinforce more bad habits for carlos...
-
jerry has pluses and minues on the plus side he handles the pitching staff well..except for what happened last year foulke..which totally sent me to the dark side... on the minus side he tinkers way too much with the starting line up and doesnt use the bench enough in in-game situations...thiough this year he has used guys off the bench alot more...forcing the other manager to burn up his pen...maybe with the vetran bench he will feel more comfortable with that this is a key year for jerry..if we have to white flag the season he will be one of thge casualties
-
crede is no konerko..but he is no olivo either
-
what makes you think its only over a 2 week period???...take a look at koch's career...he 's not that good..he is very average for a closer
-
What about the only 1000 people that showed up in Baghdad and the evidence that the US was bussing people in to fill the city up when the US tanks took down the stadium. What about the new war on Syria? You gonna support that even though the CIA has no evidence that they sold nightvision goggles to Iraq and no proof they have WoMD? okay thanks...just want to know where we are going next
-
some of us didnt want koch as our "definate closer".. ithink thats the point we are trying to make
