No cameltoe - No interest. That's my creedo.

That show has pissed off the NFL so much, that they are considering removing the NFL games from ESPN. They would start their own network. Don't be surprised if in two years we all have to pay to watch our favorite teams. That's the business side of things. I'm a Bears fan, so it's okay with me. I wouldn't pay to watch them anyways. ESPN has pissed off a lot of people in the NFL hierarchy. Not a good thing. And "Playmakers" is the sum total of every bad thing that could happen to an NFL team. Kinda like the old movie "Platoon" - it was the culmination of all the horrible things that could happen to 10 platoons wrapped up in a movie about ONE platoon. I have a cousin who plays in the NFL, and an uncle who was a sergeant in Vietnam for 8 years, so I know what I speak of.

Okay. I was lost there for a minute.

So, basically, our minor league prospects are mediocre and few and far between? We have very few "studs." That really limits us in terms of trades. Wonderful

Maggs/Prospect for Johnson and Soriano. Let's try it. Georgie Porgie is just desperate enough to overpay. Let's stick it up his ass while he's still stinging after the World Series.

It's not how much you spend - it's how you spend it.

He's a great player. He's a fan favorite. He's a great hitter. He's a farm-grown product. He's a Chicago icon. He's a player due to make 14 million a year. Sorry, Maggs, but we can spend your salary more wisely. If we can get a great package in return - Goodbye Maggs. Sure, I don't want to get rid of him, but many a team has been reluctant to get rid of their stars. Seattle was - and they still win year after year after getting rid of their overpriced stars.
-
That will change. Remember, their owner is Carl Pohlad, who makes Reinsdorf look like Mark Cuban.
-
Let's hope that Garland finds his muse and gets that 18-win season NEXT year. It's unlikely, but let's hope anyways. Garland stinks, IMO, and he'll never be a superstar, but he's better than Matt Karchner, isn't he?

KC's pitchers are still "young pups." They will break down yet again in the dog days of summer. Cleveland has some great young talent, but it's still YOUNG. They're not "ready for prime time." Detroit - well, it's Detroit. They would be lucky to beat a little league team. It's us against the Twins, and the Twins are going to lose some key guys. You think OUR payroll is limited? Try being a fan of the Minnesota Morons!

Is Grady Little's face on any of those??

I'm married, so I practice "safe sex." Meaning, I have "no sex." How safer can you be? :finger

I think Konerko's 8 million a year should rank right up there with worst contracts in baseball.
-
May he rest in peace. When the Sox finally do win the World Series (soon), he'll be there, believe me.

Yas, I would not only eat crow, I would marinate it, bake it with stuffing, and baste it with butter, and invite every other Garland dectractor to have a "crow banquet." I would LOVE to have Garland win 18 games. But he has yet to hit the 15-win plateau. Let's hope he tastes it this year. We're going to need him more than ever. Garland might just be our wild card.

Exactly. Here we go again with the eternal optimism, but a rotation of Buehrle, Loaiza, Pavano, Garland, and someone like Ponson/Colon/?? would totally rule the A.L. Look at the best teams in the A.L. Yes, the A's have a dominant rotation with Mulder, Hudson, Zito, Lilly, and Harden. They will be the favorites, I think. But the Red Sox were a final four team with Pedro, Suppan, Wakefield, and Burkett. That rotation ain't all that, quite frankly. The Yankees were a final four team with Fatass Broken-Down Wells, On My Last Legs Clemens, Andy Pettite, and Mike Mussina. A decent staff, but nothing to nominate for the "best ever" category. The Twins were a final four team with Eric Milton, Rick Reed, Kenny Rogers, Joe Mays, and Johan Santana. Besides Santana, does anyone on that staff intimidate or scare you? Nope. If we could strengthen our starting staff and have just enough firepower on offense, we could make the Twins our b****es. How sweet would THAT be?

As for Reinsdorf - why would he buy a team just to cry poor? Guys like him who have a ton of money like to have toys. A baseball team to him is just a toy. Yes, it's an investment, but he puts nothing back into it. The White Sox to Jerry Reinsdorf is nothing more than a Sony Playstation. He likes to tinker with it and play with it once in a while, but if it sits on the shelf and collects dust, it's no sweat off his brow. Once again, he said that he would gladly trade in the Bulls 6 championship rings for one World Series ring. Let's give him kudos for being a public relations guru. That sounds great, and it affects people's mindsets, but he's as full of s*** as the New York sewage system. Until he proves it by spending more money and backing up his hollow and shallow words, he's nothing more than a con artist and liar to me - and thousands of us who can see through his crap.

The more long-winded, the better. Just a thought - could Jeremy Reed (if given the starting CF job) be our version of Jerome Walton? The guy can hit. Yeah, he'll be facing major-league pitching, but Juan Pierre has shown that if you are fast, have a quick bat, and can smack the ball around, you will cause some serious trouble for the opposition. (Let me premise that by saying that I think he's BETTER than Walton, and he won't fade away like a burning bush in Arizona like Walton did).
-
It just brings out the eternal optimism that we all have within us, no matter how negative we are externally. Livan would be too much money, plus he's been known to have his best years right before his contract comes up. Hmmmm. Coincidence? I'm not so sure. I know this may not be a popular choice, but I would like to see Kenny take a chance on Carl Pavano as his "second SP signing." He's finally over his surgery of two years ago, and the guy has good stuff. Plus, the playoff stage really showed his ability and helped him hone his concentration level. And him pitching great just increased his confidence to such a high level. I don't want ONLY Pavano, but he would be one guy I would look at. He would be one hell of a #4 starter, IMO. I love the offseason.
-
He was no Gary Maddox, granted, but he wasn' t the worst I've seen. Plus, he's older and unable to physically make up for his mistakes with pure athleticism. Worse-case scenario, he plays 2B. A Sox 2B who could hit 35 HR and steal 35 bases? Wow. We haven't seen production like that since Donnie Hill.
-
It's as bad as Lou Pinella's record of being thrown out at every single base in one game. Abo, Obviously you're a Buehrle fan. A BIG Buehrle fan. I like the guy too, and I was pretty pissed at how bad the season started for him. I have him returning to form and going 18-9, 18-11, 17-10, or something like that. Agree? (Of course, I will understand when you say he'll be 25-4 with a 1.34 ERA). Either way, I think it's safe to say he's our staff ace again. If Bartolo Colon wants to leave a good situation with us for a few extra dollars, then let him choke on a Quarter Pounder.
-
If we trade Magglio Ordonez, then we HAVE to keep Paul Konerko. The White Sox are required to have at least one player hit into 30 DP's a year, or we get contracted. I used to want Weaver, but I've really changed my mind. He's a headcase, he's a loudmouth, he's a punk, and he's a very mediocre pitcher at this point.
-
If that's the case, then let's hope Kenny can pull another horseshoe out of his crack like he did with Loaiza. I would like to see a "big name" starter and then a "take a chance on me" starter. Kelvim Escobar? Carl Pavano? Who knows? It's fun to speculate though. Repetitive and pointless, but fun nonetheless.
-
So we can't lose, right? If the extra 15 million helps us make the playoffs and play good baseball, we win. If it completely flops and Kenny gets fired, we still win. I don't see the negative in any part of this scenario. But seriously, I just wish that for ONE STINKING YEAR, Reinsdorf would quit counting the beans and gold coins and actually back up his statements about "wanting the win the World Series." You can do that without a huge payroll, yes, but you still need a decent payroll. In today's MLB, 70 million is right in the middle.
