Well, if it IS true, then he will become another "Waving Wally" - he'll be waving at cars that go by hoping to hitch a ride.

There may be only 15,000 at many Sox games on any given day, but I can sit and talk baseball with any of them - and they know what the hell they are talking about. My last miserable encounter in the Gum Bowl was 1994 - I came back from taking a leak and asked the dork next to me what the score was. He didn't know until he looked at the scoreboard. He was too interested in looking at all the women in bikinis (can't blame him for that), and hitting on the girl behind us. Like I've said before: Wrigley Field = The World's Largest Singles Bar

And Sal "The Barber" Maglie joined the Brooklyn Dodgers after throwing at them for 15 years when he was with the New York Giants. Hey, maybe Sammy will come back to the Sox, too. :fyou

Hey, I LOVE Maggs. But he's not worth 14 million. He's not. He strikes out too much, he grounds into too many DP's, he is average defensively, he's not fast at all, and try to name me the last game he has ever won with a big hit. He's basically Sammy Sosa Jr. Puts up a nice statistical season every year, but it doesn't mean jack. I would trade him tomorrow instead of paying him a "superstar" salary. Maggs is a really good player - but he's not a "superstar." And his salary this year would be for a "superstar" player, not a really good player who hasn't distinguished himself yet as being a clutch player. Sorry Maggs - but you ain't worth it. Goodbye.

If only Mark Johnson could have been as good as a hitter as Paul Bako ......

I think Sammy is "gun shy" and overreacted. A high inside pitch makes him revert back to the memory of having his overinflated head bonked - being beaned in the head twice this year has him overly sensitive and defensive. OR, maybe he's having the anger side effect you get when you stick a needle full of 'roids in your ass for a decade.

I feel like all of you guys do when you read that list - I salivate, close my eyes, dream, and then sigh. We have to remember that we are still dealing with a limited payroll. Believe me, Kenny will do everything but run through a brick wall to keep Bartolo Colon. But if he doesn't, then he will slightly lean for quantity over quality - meaning he'll go out and sign two "mid-range" FA's who could win anywhere from 14-20 games potentially. I want Bartolo back, but if we CAN'T get him back, then two solid quality starters would be a viable alternative. Look at it this way - Bartolo Colon and Wright/Rauch/Cotts would theoretically win 26-28 games combined next year. If we sign two quality "mid-range" guys, we could still get 26-28 wins combined - OR MORE. For the first time in 4 years, I have complete faith in Kenny Williams. Did I just say that?

Somehow I can't see the national media romanticizing the White Sox. Best we'll be able to say is we beat the Cubs FOUR out of SIX. and we'll have to scream is as loud as possible for anybody to hear If that's all we have to hang our hats on, and if that's all we have to proud of, don't you think there's a real problem here??

They could line each seat with gold in US Cellular Field - until the product on the field improves and actually gives a s*** - it doesn't matter.

BMR, Neither you or anyone else can tell me if I'm a real fan or not. I've suffered a hell of a lot worse with this team through the years than you could imagine. Who the hell are you to decide whether I'm a real fan or not? Who made you God? Cram it where the sun don't shine, asshat. I'm more of a die-hard Sox fan than you could be in your best wet dream, pal. I just don't live my life and adjust my moods based on what a SPORTS TEAM does. I actually have a life - and a great one at that. Try it sometime.
-
Not nervous at all. I've suffered as a Chicago sports fan for 30 years. If they win - GREAT!!! If they don't - okay. It's the norm. I learned a long time ago to just accept the fate of the Sox. Plus, they don't care if my bills are paid, and if I was homeless and hungry, they wouldn't give a s*** either. So, I rely on the Sox to entertain me. I don't give my heart or soul to ANY sports team. Piss on them. They'll make more money this year than any of us will earn in a lifetime, so I don't care about them one way or another. Like I said, it's ENTERTAINMENT. If they win, GREAT!! If not, OH WELL. My life will continue either way. And I'll still have to pay my bills either way. Always remember one simple thing - IT'S JUST A GAME.

Jim Mecir gave up the game-winner to the Angels last night. Originally, I thought the A's got "Foulked!"

Having Jon Garland decide our fate tonight makes me ready to vomit. :puke It's like having your pyromaniac brother-in-law do the 4th of July fireworks display for the family reunion. :dips***

FTBHT. "Frank Thomas Brings High Tides." No wonder they hate him on the East Coast.
-
Besides his HR to win the sweep against the Twins in July, Frank Thomas' numbers have been as hollow and empty as we have always accused Sammy Corka's numbers to be. We can survive without the "Big Sloth." If I had my way, Konerko, Thomas, Koch, and Wunsch would be standing in the same unemployment line. We can win without those guys. But don't think for a minute that Reinsdrip or Kenny will increase payroll. They will continue to cry poormouth. The big debate used to be - "Sox fans say they won't come out unless the team pays players, but the team says they won't players unless the fans come out." Well, they have a lot more money than they used to, but don't expect any great rewards for showing up at the "Cell." I'm sure the Reinsdick P.R. staff will find 100 reasons to not increase payroll. And I hope to God that Jose Valentin does NOT reach his plate appearance clause. He sucks, regardless of his inflated bulls*** numbers. The guy is Julio Cruz reincarnated. At least Konerko has increased his trade value. Now if we can only find a stupidass GM with s***-for-brains who needs a 1B who is slower than a rusty refrigerator, can't hit consistently for a whole season, is mediocre defensively, and is a mope when he's struggling. Oh, how I wish Ed Lynch was still on the North Side.

Read the "stats.inc" report for the last month. You'll see something interesting. Sammy Corka was leading the fan balloting. Once the world saw what a sham, liar, cheating, false piece of s*** he really was - his votes DIED. Enjoy the All-Star game from your room, Shammy. You are a fraud - and now you don't get the spotlight anymore, cheater. Ain't that a b****? Your skills are fading faster than a cheap T-Shirt, asshole. Welcome to mediocrity, jerkoff.

Joe Borchard = Brooks Kieschnick You heard it here first.
-
There is such a positive feeling around that clubhouse right now - wow! I was at the last playoff game too, at the age of 12 with my Sox hard cap on. I cried my eyes out. But my dad took me to Geno's East, and I felt better. Here's hoping we can all rejoice in pure adulation when the Sox go to the ALCS - and then let's kick some ass. There's no one in the A.L. that scares me at all. The Yankees? Has beens. The A's? Chokers. The Twins? LMAO!!! The Mariners? Watch that unproven pitching staff fall apart like a house of cards. To the rest of the A.L. - for the next 3 months and the playoffs -
-
Mark Buehrle is now getting run support, he's getting good defense behind him, and most importantly, HE'S KEEPING HITTERS OFF BALANCE WITH A PERFECT MIX OF PITCHES. He was 2-10 - don't be surprised if he finishes the year with a 17-12 or 18-13 record. You heard it here first. Or maybe you didn't.
-
And much like the '83 Sox, the team SUCKED for 2 months - and then - well, you know the end of the story. Hopefully, there will be a much happier ending.
-
A rotting corpse with maggots crawling out of it's eye sockets would be an upgrade to anything they stick at 3B. Lenny Harris - the only major leaguer who collects a MLB paycheck AND social security. On a related note - Happy 67th Birthday, Lenny!!
-
D'Angeloser Jimenez - by far, the STUPIDEST baseball player I've ever seen. He makes Shammy look like a Rhodes Scholar. (With a corked diploma, of course).
-
I know he's struggling once in a while, but now you can AFFORD to have a guy finding his way in your lineup. I like Daubach a LOT, but I would play him twice a week at DH, and have Everett DH the other 5 games - with Harris in CF 5 days a week. His speed is scary. If he would only learn to swing DOWN on the ball and forget about home runs, he would give us an element in the offense I haven't seen since One Dog roamed CF. I miss One Dog.
-
I thought Frank was done. Obviously, and happily, I was WRONG. Hey, his RBI numbers are nowhere where they used to be, but let's be honest here, he had crap batting in front of him for 3 months. Normally, players put up better stats in the first half, but look for Frank to drive in 65-75 runs in the second half. This team is primed to pound the hell out of the ball. I expect Frank and Maggs to top 120 RBI's - even though neither has 50 at this point. You'll see. Oh yeah - one more thing. GOODBYE D'ANGELOSER. You are a loser - and only a team that is a loser will sign you. So you'll either end up in Tampa Bay, Detroit, or on the North Side of Chicago.
-
I still want Willie Harris to play 3 or 4 games a week. He is not a batting title contender - and will never be - but his speed causes a lot of problems. If only he could hit .280 - man, we could have an offense to die for.
