  1. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 13, 2009 -> 10:59 PM) Awesome fight to watch though the scores were LOL worthy. Compubox shows Clottey had blocked pretty much anything meaningful from Cotto. Problem is Clottley kept getting stuck on the ropes, and regardless of Cotto landing next to nothing in those instances (save for round 6), it still looked good for him. Cotto had to fight 9 rounds with one eye, his cutman was terrible. Clottey was at a huge advantage at that point, and put absolutely zero pressure on Miguel. Had Joshua done this, he would've won the fight rather easily. He fought a poor fight, but this has been the knock on Clottey his whole career. He's incapable of putting pressure on his opponents and tonight he paid for it. Also, Cotto put down Clottey in the first round on a nice straight right. When you take into consideration that Cotto was the one defending his title, and take into consideration all the previous things I mentioned, Clottey did not get robbed. I've never seen Cotto take so many headshots and NOT get phased by them at all. It's true what they say about Joshua Clottey, he has no power behind his shots, which shows with only 20 KO's in 38 fights I had the fight: Round 1: 10-8 Cotto Round 2: 10-9 Clottey Round 3: 10-9 Cotto Round 4: 10-9 Cotto Round 5: 10-9 Clottey Round 6: 10-9 Cotto Round 7: 10-9 Clottey Round 8: 10-9 Clottey Round 9: 10-9 Cotto Round 10: 10-9 Clottey Round 11: 10-9 Clottey Round 12: 10-9 Cotto 114-113 Cotto
  2. I've seen enough of the Scott Linebrink Comedy Hour
  3. Sit down, Fielder.
  4. welcome back Jose, beats
  5. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 03:51 AM) Murph is the 2nd worst sports radio host in Chicago. North is the worst. Couldn't agree more. They're unbearable.
  6. Isn't there some sort of rule where you can't re-sign a player to less than their arbitration price? Or does it not apply because Jermaine still has an option year left?
  7. Miguel Angel Cotto (Caguas, PR 33-1, 27KO) vs Joshua Clottey (Acra, Ghana, 35-2, 20KO) Fight is on HBO, not Pay-Per View Clottey relinquishes his IBF title for a chance at the WBO title, tonight at Madison Square Garden I know there aren't many Boxing fans on Soxtalk, though I think there are a few This is my most anticipated sports event this year so I'm pretty excited This is a tough fight to predict, I've seen about 4 or 5 of Clottey's most recent fights, and since I'm a huge Cotto fan I've seen almost all of his fights Next to Mayweather/Marquez in July, this should be the second biggest fight this year in terms of ratings, and will vault these two fighters careers in a new direction, one for the better and one for the worst If I had to make a prediction, it'd have to be a homer pick of Cotto UD in 12 rounds, but Clottey could win just as easily IMO It was hard to see Cotto lose his first fight against (now suspended) Antonio Margarito, I hope he doesn't taste defeat tonight as well
  8. It's awesome living in IL and having to watch the Cardinals game on FOX. Yeah, f*** you FOX.
  9. The koolaid is wearing off with me, regarding Beckham I think Getz started out the year with more hits than Gordon has, I think there's been just too much pressure put on him with the whole "We brought you up to the big club to help us win" comment Kenny made to him
  10. we're the only AL Central team to lose today in interleague, we're sweeeeeeeet!
  11. QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Jun 12, 2009 -> 09:37 PM) I'm totally calling dibs on the chicken guy as avatar. Poreda is supposed to be in the mid-90s, touching high 90's I thought. Poreda being a 1.5 pitch pitcher throwing 92-94, he won't be very successful at this level
  12. I don't know what year it will be when it happens, but whenever it is and Brian Anderson is out of our organization ala Owens, I'll be a happy mofo
  13. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 12, 2009 -> 09:04 PM) It was to premature to take him out. Let him try and finish the inning at the very least. Ozzie likes to take his pitchers out before they have an opportunity to lose, and I freaking hate that idea. You should let the pitchers have the opportunity to win. And that, in combo with our god awful defensive positioning with the pitcher at bat, is gonna cost us the game, most likely. wtf, he's on 3 days rest!
  14. I know we're bad, but this bad? Just an awful baseball team.
  15. DOTEL FALLS BEHIND EVERY HITTER THAT GETS A HIT OFF HIM. THROW A STRIKE, AND GET AHEAD OF THESE GUYS. UNREAL.
  16. Dotel is awesome with inherited runners.
  17. Brian Anderson is a bleeping JOKE He'll NEVER be any good, ever.
  18. Classic Brian Anderson at-bat right there. 87mph fastballs for 0-1 and 0-2, then junk away. No brain inside his head.
  19. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 07:11 PM) Oh my god, that would also be absolutely f***ing awful. That would be like trading Jenks for Kyle McCulloch and Brad Eldred (I know he's not with the club anymore, but he's the first AAAA slugger I could think of that was last on the White Sox). If you trade Jenks and are going to go the prospect route, you need to get two top 100 baseball prospects, preferably at least one who is considered an "impact" prospect. I don't like Kenny's definition of "Impact", i.e. Lillibridge, Getz, Fields, Owens. Beckham doesn't count, he wasn't in our plans for this year until we started playing like trash
  20. Thornton would have to bring in a CANT MISS, or a top player, he's the best left-handed reliever in baseball IMO.
  21. I don't want Fields to face Zumaya, the result will be pretty obvious
  22. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 06:12 PM) I literally sat there and said to my TV, first pitch slider gets him here Bobby. Sure enough he was in swing mode and anything other than a fastball probably gets a ground ball. Sad thing is, he threw the pitch AJ wanted, right to where AJ's glove was Who calls these pitches, Cooper? AJ?
