  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 03:59 PM) Couldn't agree more, Walker is like a family member to guys like Crede, Thome, Dye, PK, Uribe, and AJP. However, that might be the problem. Maybe they need a different point of view and a different type of r'ship with the hitting coach. i will say, you make an interesting point
  2. i think we will see changes sooner rather than later, i just have a hunch probably within the next 10-20 days would be my guess, KW wants to win, he has a hardcore winners attitude and is very proactive, he sees our pitching and he'll do anything he can to tweak this ballclub
  3. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 03:53 PM) The question(s) I have for people who don't think Walker should be fired is this: Should a hitting coach EVER be fired? Is one even needed? Because it's never really just the hitting coaches fault if you can't hit, but Greg Walker has done about as much as a hitting coach can to show he should be fired since the second half of 2006. If you think Walker shouldn't be fired, I can't only assume you think hitting coaches just shouldn't be fired because it's not their fault, and thus they shouldn't even exist because they aren't needed. Although to be honest, I'd have a really hard time arguing that point of view. so you're arguement is, if a hitting coach doesn't do anything, they're not needed. so fire walker because he doesn't serve a purpose on the team. just make sure you don't replace him with anyone, because hitting coaches don't really do anything. now, for my opinion on the matter, I think walker brings a more family-type aspect to the team, the guys are very close to him, and as much as it might seem (to many of you guys) that walker being fired would somehow change the team and ultimately cause them to start hitting (which i find unrealistic, but that's just me), i think the ramifications of canning a guy that's so close to his players might send the wrong idea i could be 100% wrong here, but that's the way i see it right now
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 03:50 PM) Funny thing about this thread coming now, if Walker had been fired after yesterday's game, the new hitting coach would have been praised for the approaches today. A lot of hitting the other way, and a ton of hits. The fact that they are gagging with RISP, putting that on the hitting coach is ridiculous. what......the......... logic? no...
  5. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 03:34 PM) Time to play Toby Hall at first. lol bring up lucy as backup catcher, DH Toby Hall so we can get his bat & AJ's bat in the lineup at the same time Toby is not a power hitter but he's a smart hitter IMO, and even though i think his numbers will even out, i think he is capable of .250-.275 RIGHT NOW vs our other option at DH who, lets be honest, isn't doing anything for this team right now except hitting the ball when nobody is on base, and striking out when there are RISP i'm not inferring that Toby is the long-term solution for the year, but until Thome starts fixing whatever is wrong (It's not walker), maybe this wouldn't be a bad idea
  6. i guess if you want walker to take all the blame, you have to say cooper is responsible for all of the positives w/ this pitching staff in my opinion, i think cooper has done a decent job, but other than Gavin, Danks and the reclamation project with Thornton, the other guys have pretty much pitched to their ability. just my opinion
  7. QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 03:36 PM) I think most people are past the stage of being offended by steriod accusations. You obviously are not. haha. stay classy~
  8. the only thing i would do would be to swap walker with another coach on the staff and have them flip-flop, perhaps put walker at bench coach i'm not for this guy losing his job for something that (IMO) isn't entirely his fault i think these guys are psyching themselves out, and have been doing this ever since 2006, for whatever reason
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 03:33 PM) Tuesday's a big game for the Sox. Greinke's possibly the filthiest righty in the AL. If the offense can have a good game against him, it sets up for a strong home stand. my vote goes to Halladay, but they're both very good
  10. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 03:31 PM) dont be so naive. there were roiders on every team, including your beloved Sox. wow, what a brainless post. i'm not naive, and i'm well aware we had guys on this team using PED's. but who the hell thinks they can toss around the PED arguement when they have absolutely no proof whatsoever of it? that's RIDICULOUS, and you should be ashamed of yourself as a sox fan, and of baseball in general to throw around comments like that just because your feelings are hurt that Swisher has sucked this year. get real dude.
  11. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 03:28 PM) Nick Swisher and his .201 batting average need to be benched. He is useless. Lets go with Dye/Anderson/Quentin...and Alexei is really coming on, that's the one good thing we can take from todays offensive performance. when uribe starts playing instead of Alexei "because Uribe is not a defensive liability", i'll probably stop watching these games all together. i took some heat for bashing ozzie on this site, and today was a perfect example of why i think his baseball IQ and overall intelligence is rather lacking, he's just not smart.
  12. swisher was a steroid user in oakland? really? sometimes i'm embarassed to be a member on this site.
  13. Sweet, Toby playing today. And no, this is not meant to be green either.
  14. wow, here's a mindblowing stat the white sox this year have given up 1 run or less 15 times that's an MLB best, btw.
  15. 1920x1200 if possible, only if you don't have to ruin the original IQ of the photos you used though, if 1920x1200 would stretch the images too much, 1680x1050 would be ok
  16. remember when we were 2 games under .500 before we played the giants?
  17. i hate when our young pitchers are afraid of the f***ing bat, throw goddamn strikes
  18. jackson will have at least 41 pitches after this inning ends
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 29, 2008 -> 06:09 PM) You know, if we could just get 1 more bat in this lineup working...just 1 more out of the 4-5 guys struggling... let's DH toby hall
  20. apparently CSN+ is out down here, just static
  21. QUOTE (Reddy @ May 29, 2008 -> 11:56 AM) you can't blow words directly out of a guys mouth out of proportion. he said what he said, and what he said is that he doesn't like playing here... he never said once he doesn't like playing here, that was never an exact statement made by him, not that i've read or seen linked to and besides, my post was about the scoring thing, i guess ozzie actually does call the scorekeepers for his players, that's something i never knew about before until today.
  22. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3415430 honestly it doesn't sound as bad as it seems after reading that article, just my opinion i wasn't aware that ozzie actually DOES call scorekeepers to get calls changed, this sounds like the media just making a big deal over nothing other than OC thinking ozzie didnt give a s*** about him, the rest seems wildly blown out of proportion
  23. QUOTE (RME JICO @ May 29, 2008 -> 07:49 AM) KC is making a loss into an art form. Minnesota has allowed more runs than they've scored, so more than likely their record will adjust. not if we keep losing to them.
  24. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 28, 2008 -> 05:14 PM) When you say not pursued, you mean the White Sox aren't going to pursue him or other clubs are backing off him? i figured it was implied the white sox will not pursue him
  25. on B&B just a few minutes ago, they were just told that Cabrera is most likely not going to be pursued in FA after this year, supposedly has something to do with clubhouse issues
