  1. 7-game LDS, 9-game LCS/WS, make it happen! didn't really put any thought into the pros/cons of a setup like this, i just thought it sounded funny
  2. just want to state that the pituitary gland isnt' at the base of the brain, its behind your sinus cavity my dad's pituitary adenoma (growth) was removed through an invasive surgery through his nose, leaving no visible scarring which of course is nice! and he was put on a topical steroid called Andro Gel, so these types of growths often times require hormonal treatments such as steroids or hgh
  3. boston wins this in 5 games, losing 1 in colorado, sigh.
  4. story is legit from my own experience, my father had the same pituitary adenoma that byrd had and my father was prescribed a topical steroid (not HGH in his case but the same result) prior to his surgery and for a few months afterwards if byrd is crucified for this, i can only feel pity for all those uneducated individuals who don't know anything about the situation
  5. Just bought this game a couple days ago and wow, it's amazing. I've played quite a few BB games over the years and this one is by far the best in terms of gameplay and depth. The amount of pitches that they included in the game is staggering. Fastball (2S/4S) Slider Hard Slider Cutter Curve Slow Curve Drop Curve (?) Slurve Knuckle Curve Sinker Hard Sinker Screwball Forkball, Palmball, Change, Circle Change, Vert. Slider, Knuckleball, Split, Foshball(?), Shuuto, Hard Shuuto, Sinker You can't throw any pitch you want, using any pitcher. Each MLB pitcher has their own arsenal of pitches that are for the most part accurate to their real-life counterpart (Some exceptions include Garland not having a sinker, Danks not having a Curveball, etc) The game also keeps track of how many times you've hit a certain pitch as well as recorded an out/struck out swinging on a pitch. Even keeps track of how many times you've fouled a ball off or swung and missed, on any type of pitch It has really simple graphics, something you'd think a kid would enjoy because of its simple looks but this game is like a strategy game in terms of how much depth it has. If anyone has a Wii (I think it's out for PS2 as well), I recommend renting/buying it, definitely the best baseball game I've played Btw it doesn't use the Wii Remote's motion sensor for batting/pitching like Wii Sports baseball does, but it would be a much simpler game if it did, and I think they tried to make this game as much of a Simulator as possible with the pitch location/swing aim that it currently has Here's a review @ IGN: http://wii.ign.com/articles/825/825828p1.html I dunno how many people here play videogames (seriously/casually or whatever), but the game is fun indeed
  6. i have a gut feeling this game was over the minute the tribe signed Borowski
  7. well this game is over
  8. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Oct 7, 2007 -> 12:22 PM) http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/playoffs2007...tory?id=3052904 man, the guy has absolutely no class whatsoever. but i wouldn't expect anything more tbh. i can't believe he put that out there to the media, that isn't something that needs to be said to reporters before the season is over, anyone disagree?
  9. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Oct 7, 2007 -> 11:19 AM) George Steinbrenner said this week that if Torre doesn't get his team to win the ALDS, he's as good as fired. Just curious, if he ends up on the market, would you like the idea of a Torre led White Sox? i've not seen this quoted anywhere, link?
  10. money doesn't equal talent, there are so many players in baseball who get paid way too much money we need to stop dumping so much money into players that aren't great and figure out other methods of acquiring good talent (hello draft/scouts), look at the twins/indians and their payroll and then put it up next to their players, they aren't really making very much money sans a select few, and yet they're pretty amazing talent-wise as a team right now in terms of pure talent, i'd say we're 3rd or 4th in the division 1/2/3 Indians/Tigers/Twins in no particular order, then we're 4th and KC 5th sure, we have some sluggers who can pump out 30-40 a year with around 100 RBI's, and we have one reliable starting pitcher (i love Javy but he hasn't reached that "Reliable" status yet), and our closer seems to be coming around but it all tails off from there we need more talent on this team, and it seems that we won't be able to count on our scouts or minor league coaches to get it, so i guess we have to take approach B: overpay for decent players
  11. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 28, 2007 -> 10:38 PM) No. Jenks has had a fantastic season, but he wasn't even in a top 3 closer in the AL. Putz, Nathan and Papelbon all had better seasons. i'll give you putz and papelbon, but not nathan, he leads jenks in ERA and had 2 less BSV, but jenks had 4 more saves than he did, a lower WHIP, a lower BAA, and of course the 41 consecutive outs
  12. you can toss as much conjecture as you want at me, i really don't care i voted yes, IMO if other closers can get consideration in recent years, then Jenks performance this year deserves recognition Jenks 2007 Line 3-5, 2.77 ERA, WHIP 0.89, 40/46 SV, BAA .196 Tied an MLB record that stood for over 30 years, pretty much underrated all year long, and thats only because this team performed like complete garbage, if we were in a pennant race or had won the division, Jenks would probably be getting a LOT of press this year and would definitely be one of the major stories this post season
  13. Copy/Paste this into your windows media player and you can watch last nights game for free: Edit: Doesn't seem to work for whatever reason, however MLB.com lets you watch pre-recorded games for free now, so just browse to yesterdays sox game and giddy up Here's the exact URL that their windows media movie points to, if anyone can do anything with it
  14. give AJ some credit maybe for his stat line tonight, do we know if his catcher in AAA calls a good game for him or whatever? i don't really pay much attention
  15. uh, how can anyone NOT say it's been jose contreras? is this a joke?
  16. WOW nice turn on the DP Danny, meanwhile 7K's through 5 for lance
  17. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3033346 The umpire allegedly said things that were unprofessional and a disgrace to himself and the game, when speaking to Milton Bradley while he was at first base
  18. 2-0 royals, game?
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 20, 2007 -> 01:39 PM) Hafner will be much better next season. that was the point i was making, if they're doing this well with a not-so-great hafner, imagine how many more games they'll win when he's actually producing
  20. i just think that clevelands team as it stands right now is pretty much good enough to take the division next year, whereas we already have to make at least a handful of moves/trades, detroits bullpen isn't that great so there's a glaring weakness they have as well as Sheff seems to be unable to stay healthy (just like our DH) westbrook/carmona/byrd/sabathia right now look really really good (byrd/westbrook/sabathia are basically unhittable to our hitters, and carmona will most likely get to that point as well if this years performance is any indication) not to mention they're younger/healthier in just about every position than we are, and look where they are right now and hafner isn't even having an average year it'll be tough to stay toe to toe with cleveland next year unless we are able to make the right moves in the offseason
  21. Cleveland will most likely win the division again next year, just my two cents
  22. think there's a good chance wasserman makes the team next year? if they dont bring him back, i'll be seriously scratching my head about what direction this team is trying to go
  23. we could've had porcello before detroit got him, i have no faith in this organization actually farming up great players, so us getting a first pick probably would look something like "And the Chicago White Sox, with their first pick of the 2008 Player Draft select ." (Camera pans to KW High-Fiving JR) Meanwhile, back at soxtalk..... Poster1: WTF? Poster2: lol, why am I not surprised? Poster3: IT'Z BECAUSE OF BORAS etc.etc.
  24. agreed, keep enron out still rooting for the mariners though
  25. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Aug 24, 2007 -> 02:20 PM) So much for a good Garland outing. Nice 2.2 IP though. he's so terrible, seriously
