QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 01:54 PM) Did you get an honors point your freshman and sophmore year? Because if not, you had an A+ average?? I took all honors classes, but my school doesn't give us an honors point until junior year. Right now I'm around 3.7, but that will go way up when all the slackers don't get honors points and I do this year. Yea.. 5 points for an A in an honors class, 4 for a B. For regular classes its 4 for an A and so on. I took one honors class Freshman year, two soph year, and going for 3 this year.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 08:45 PM) Correct me if I'm wrong, (I've never been in that eclosed box they call the patio area) but don't you have to enter through the Bullpen sports bar? Wouldn't you have to be 21 to attend this portion of the festivities? No you can get in there from an underground tunnel-type-thing. That's where the garage sale is located usually and you do not have to go the the BP sports bar.

QUOTE(56789 @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 11:48 PM) Hey SNB, do you know the requirements be a general student at U of I, im goin into senior year with a 3.5 gpa a 24 on my ACT and am about in the 30% of my class. My cumulative gpa for high school so far is about 4.15, IIRC, (4.3 last semester) and I'm in the 92nd percentile. Taking somewhat of a tougher schedule this year, so I should maintain a 4.3 if all goes well and raise the cum. gpa and the percentile.

QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 11:43 PM) up until last year i thought i'd be going into computer programming, then i realized i couldn't do that for the rest of my life i don't care what you say, if your in high school, you really have no idea what you want to major in. Things change alot as time goes by. True, but that is good that I can have an idea now, and if that changes, I can switch and no big deal.

QUOTE(danman31 @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 06:35 PM) CS1- you're going to be a sophomore in high school this year right? If so, that's way too early to think about college. So many things will change (your goals, grades, test scores, etc). You may think you know what you want know but it can change. Going into my sophomore year I thought I knew what I wanted to go to college for and that has changed since. Also, you have little idea what schools you will be able to get into as you have to make your grades and such. With that said it doesn't hurt anyone to simply think about it. Junior, so I guess we are going to be starting to look at colleges this year. I know its kinda early but I thought I would try to get somewhat of a head start on the situation. As for grades I should be good to get into most places, except for the really smart ones that I have no interntion of going to anyway. Also, you attend Northwestern, right? How do you like it there? NU and NIU are two local schools that I'm interested in, although I don't know much at all yet. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 09:04 PM) Right now i'm in general education (ie: undecided) But i will be applying to the business college to major in business administration this spring. My schedule is boring, require classes. statistics, spanish, calculus, and accounting. Tip: if your applying and even remotely interested in majoring in business, apply to the business college, it's a b**** to try and transfer (ie: me) I'm definetly going for business, its just what exactly what portion of business I will end up with as my major. Right now I'm looking at management, but that is a long way away, and things can change a lot. And as Illinois is concerned, I've never really seen myself going there. I don't know, it just doesn't seem like the right fit for me, but that is why I'm trying to get some info from all of you.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 05:41 PM) CubsSuck, I think the hardest part of college is to think beyond your 4 years at school. At the time it seems to go forever, but looking back it FLIES. And where you go to college will have a pretty big impact of where you end up afterwards. In other words, if you want to stay close to home, and enjoy Illinois, go somewhere there and pick a school that has a good reputation in what you think you want to do. If you want to jump out and go somewhere else to start a new life, then go somewhere far away, but remember it's harder to go home for the weekend to do laundry. The big thing is try to look at it from what you want to do with yourself, not what others want you to do, as someone else said in this thread. I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head there. I've already got a good idea about what I want to do with my life post college, so that should help out a lot in the decision process. On top of that, as you said, I'm likely to stay close in Illinois, or get the hell out far, far away. But if I do leave, I'm not sure how hard it would be to keep in touch with what is going on back home. And I sent you a pm lol

QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 05:28 PM) I'm going to be a soph. at U of I-Champaign this year. I really enjoyed my first year sans my roomate. As long as you don't mind big lectures, you'll enjoy the class part of it. The school's specialties well......are everything, it's so big . But i'd say most students are engineering or business. The social part of it, well there's so many people, you'll find something no matter what your into. What are you majoring in? What is your schedule for this year? QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 05:34 PM) I'm applying to: University of Michigan University of South Carolina University of Illinois University of Texas University of Florida Florida State University University of Georgia It's going to be a fun next couple of weeks writing all these essays. Big aspirations?

Which college did you go to, are you attending, or are considering going to? Also what would you say about that school to someone looking at colleges?

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 11:57 AM) This is exactly the reason why I feel that it is perfectly ok to trade prospects for major league talent. No matter how thrilled the "scouts" are, they are right only 1 percent of the time. The rest is all fluff. Sox fans should know first hand how many of these cant miss prospects dont make it in the show. Agree 100%

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 03:22 PM) I'll bet he, I mean you, are still confused. Serious advice here, don't be so transparent, and you might have gotten a serious answer. The whole approach to this was a joke, and that's how the thread ended up. If Vince wants to know something, I know he has everybody's email addresses. I was just wondering, and I figured nobody would have a problem. So I just post the question and only get responses about chickens and whatever else... I knew you were joking but thought that you guys just stepped down like mods have done before, no big deal right? Anyways if there was a problem with the way I went about things, I'll back off, but I think you (ss2k and kap) are reading into things WAY more than what I was intending.

Mine came today... Iguchi, Uribe, Dye and Politte in Beatles uniforms is classic

LOL, I'd probably strike out if I played. I might have to lay down a bunt, although that may be illegal

I was listening to the post game on ESPN, and Dolgin said something about his era being sub-1 for his last 17 appearances. Not bad at all.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 08:59 AM) Ok here's the deal... according to the nice lady at my newstand: ESPN magazine comes out every week. The last issue dated August 1st, is NOT the issue we're looking for. That issue has some guy holding a bike on the cover. The next issue should hit the stands either tomorrow (Friday), or Monday. It should be dated August, 8th. Hopefully this is the one we want. Maybe people who subscribe get their issues sooner than the newstand. ESPN is biweekly, and the date of the magazine is the last day it is on newsstands before the new one comes out, I believe. So the next magazine will probably be dated the 15th give or take.

QUOTE(ceffa2000 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 03:51 PM) I think we have lost 3 in a row 4-5 times. Nothing more than 3 though. That is damn good, and once we are playing in October, our ability to avoid multiple game skids will be huge.

What is our longest losing streak on the year?
