  1. QUOTE(The Beast @ Feb 27, 2008 -> 02:59 PM) Why is that completely unnecessary? Come on now, seriesly. haha, joke much? Anyways DGS was a pretty decent school. There are much, much worse out there.
  2. QUOTE(The Beast @ Feb 20, 2008 -> 05:02 PM) ...because I like listening to some of my professors and getting a higher education than I did in my partially half assed high school, Downers Grove South. Completely unnecessary.
  3. QUOTE(The Beast @ Jan 19, 2008 -> 01:45 AM) Assman BEAST-MEISTER
  4. Please, just give me Swisher. If I've learned anything from this team's recent history, its that the return we get from our so-called top prospects is so low that it makes no sense not to trade the kids away for established major league players. For every Chris Young (who despite solid power numbers, failed to hit even .240 last year) there are countless Rauches, Honels, Borchards, Reeds, and Hummels. Let us not forget the collective hard-on this board had for Reed and Borchard circa 03/04, and the caliber of a player we could have got in return in a package deal had we traded them away when they were in hot demand. Why gamble with prospects who have such a low track record when there are teams looking to eat them up in return for players who are almost guaranteed to produce?
  5. QUOTE(spiderman @ Dec 23, 2007 -> 06:47 PM) There has to be some organized movement going on over the Internet to explain this - he's a fringe candidate if you look at any poll yet he almost always wins any kind of debate on the news channel. I don't buy it. I suppose I can offer a bit of an explanation. From what I understand, the majority of the major polls collect data from registered Republicans who have voted in past primaries, especially 2004 when Bush ran generally unopposed (yes, primaries were still held). However, at least from what I've experienced, most of Paul's support comes from those fed up with the status quo, those who would not have not have voted in the '04 primaries for no reason other than to symbolically show their support for Bush, who was a shoe-in regardless. Paul's base of support is a diverse group; you'll find traditional conservatives, libertarians, independents, former democrats, etc. But certainly not a whole lot of neo-cons who, due to the nature of the polls, get polled most regularly.
  6. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 17, 2007 -> 11:09 PM) For the record, I changed my registration to Republican specifically so I could vote for Ron Paul in the primary. Ditto. I'm not going to say Paul will definitely win in the primaries, but the national polls are are very poor measure of his support considering it is largely 2004 GOP primary voters who are being polled (from when Bush ran unopposed). With money, a unique platform, tons of straw poll victories, and a large and growing group of dedicated grassroots supporters, things are looking pretty good for the man, regardless of what the polls say.
  7. Another Ron Paul "money bomb" kicks off tonight at midnight... should be interesting to see if he can surpass November 5th's $4.2 million in a single day, and by how much.
  8. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 29, 2007 -> 07:52 PM) OSU still waiting on Pryor, although the news is favorable. We could use the top QB in the country. And, judging from last night's game, someone who can put the ball through the hoop.
  9. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 9, 2007 -> 02:40 PM) I guess the money-bombs are the "in" thing now... Fred Thompson is planning one on Nov 21 http://www.blogsforfredthompson.com/nation...ovember-21-2007 Count in Romney and Huckabee as well. Also, Paul is up to 6% in the latest Rasmussen national poll: http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_con...l_tracking_poll
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 08:59 AM) Make it a Republican record $4.2 million for one day. http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D8...=1&catnum=3 The grassroots campaign already has two more "money bombs" planned for November 11 and December 16; I'm not sure how much the first will raise, but I think the second one has the potential to be huge. And the interesting thing is, it's the MSM coverage that could ultimately end up being much more valuable. Every major media outlet ran a story on him today, and many portrayed the notion that he's now propelled himself to compete amongst the front runners.
  11. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 12:08 PM) Paul is really sneaking into this thing. The longer people stay distracted with everything else going on, he continues to creep up on people. He seems to have the most passionate following around. I doubt it will be enough though. All though this guy is a New Hampshire surprise away from breaking out. Closed Primaries could really end up hurting Paul. However, he's still got over $5 million on hand, which is almost certainly more than everyone but Rudy and Romney. Another interesting thing about Paul's Q3 numbers is that he more than doubled his Q2 totals, while all of the other major candidates saw a decline. The Paul campaign has set a $12 million dollar goal for the fourth quarter, which may be a bit of a stretch. If they are able to achieve that, though, he'd likely thrust himself into true contention with the frontrunners, considering that Romney led the pack with approx $10 million this quarter and is unlikely to match that in Q4.
  12. Ron Paul is trying to raise $12 million this quarter
  13. NUKE, who do you like out of the candidates running for the GOP nomination?
  14. I think Paul and Huckabee were both impressive in this morning's debate. Giuliani.... made himself look like an idiot.
  15. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 1, 2007 -> 01:26 PM) Just got my hands on "Zeitgeist"... very solid comeback album by Billy C and co... I enjoy this a lot. How about that 7 Shades of Black? and United States?
  16. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 12:11 PM) I think I would rather see Ross Perot run again... I understand that Paul's candidacy is a long shot at best, but I hope that his ideals may at least somewhat influence the GOP and balance out some of the neo-conservatism. I'm somewhat surprised that constitutionalism and a non interventionist foreign policy can be considered radical, but hell what do I know?
  17. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 10:54 AM) There the Admiral....the admiral club and go to the admiral yep, i can vouch for this one... definitely a good night
  18. Oden has said he'd stay more than a year at OSU, but I'd like to see how much that holds up when millions are being pushed out on the table in front of him.

    Ozuna

How about giving Pablo a shot in center field in a platoon? Being that Mackowiaks main role is to step in and provide some offense in Anderson's position, I think Ozuna could do just as well if not better. He is hitting .400 albeit in only 60 ABs. In addition, he has shown the ability to step it up in clutch, and seems in be involved in some game changing play when hes in the lineup. Add in hisa speed and you have an amazingly versatile player. Yes, defense could be an issue, but if Pablo is just platooned, and Anderson is occasionally used as a defensive replacement, I dont think the team would take a huge hit. At the very least, I think he provides a better option than mack, and deserves a shot at it.
  20. On the score, B&B as well as Laurence Holmes put out quality shows, but North and Murphy and pathetic. For ESPN, im a fan of MJ&H and J Hood

score came in the mail today... 32 with an unexpected 36 on science
  23. Having had Bryan Mullins attend my high school and seeing him play many many times, I can assure you that you are in for a real treat getting to watch him play four years at SIU. Having him atted SIU made me a fan of theirs instantaneously, and I'm definetly pumped with them getting into the big dance... can't wait.
