  1. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 09:01 PM) I'll say it again, and don't care what anybody says, not trading Q in the offseason was a monumental mistake. The entire publicized trade efforts without actually getting a deal done was horribly managed by the FO and now the team and Q are in a tough situation. Yes, I know Q still has plenty of time on his deal, and yes, I know he is still a very talented pitcher, but anybody who thinks we can still get a full value deal on him is naive. The time to trade him was in the offseason and the opportunity was completely blown. Ok rank over... We don't know what the market was at the time. We'll now have new teams emerging such as the Brewers that wouldn't have come after him before. And without knowing what the offers were out there this winter, it's tough to criticize. I do think the Eaton deal sort of ruined things for ourselves.
  2. QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 08:56 PM) Q's curve still looks filthy tonight. The Rockies should take note of this and empty their farm system for him. Would love to look up in 4 innings and see him have 7 IP with just the 2 ER.
  3. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 08:57 PM) I was actually thinking the same thing today. Giolito might be better off in the majors working with Coop. I think he's mentally strong enough to handle the challenge as well.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 08:54 PM) Curve has been effective The one to K Wolters was nasty. His stuff is still there.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 08:43 PM) The BP writer that was at the game was very impressed I still don't think a Gavin Floyd comp for Lucas is far off at all. Floyd got a taste of the majors and then went to AAA the next year and had an ERA over 6. Both big guys with good fastball/curve combo with a lot of moving parts. I also think the same about him, Fulmer etc. that I do with a number of those Charlotte guys - I wouldn't mind seeing them in the majors to be around a major league staff. How many guys have we had come up this year that have looked better than their AAA numbers might indicate? Get them around our best coaches and away from whatever they are doing in Charlotte.
  6. Hearing Hawk do a Game of Thrones promo is hilarious
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 08:33 PM) Heck of a game for Giolito. He likes those 7 inning shutouts Take out his first 6 starts and his ERA sits around 3.92. I realize you can't take them out, but he's been more than respectable since that first month and a half. The strikeout numbers appear to be coming back as well.
  8. Lots of people give up home runs to Arenado
  9. I want to see Engel get an extended look.
  10. Kevan has gotten himself a job next year.
  11. Watching the bottom the the seventh (only a 7 inning game). Burdi is warming. Lucas looks like he's losing a little control.
  12. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 07:56 PM) Lol @ Yolmer batting 5th. I get we don't have a lot of options, but I'd probably roll the dice with Willy in that spot. I feel like piling on
  13. Todd hitting a home run here would be nice on a variety of levels
  14. Jose has been fun to watch this year.
  15. Giolito kicking ass and taking names tonight so far. 6 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 9 K.

  18. Carl had a career .271 average. 202 home runs. And a ring. Not a bad career.

Panayotovich somehow allows only 1 run on 12 hits in 6 innings.
  20. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 7, 2017 -> 09:55 PM) Someone tell me again, why is he in the DR instead of the US at his age 19? Tax savings.
  21. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 7, 2017 -> 08:29 PM) Holland singles. Maybe this game gets real weird or maybe it doesn't
  22. Holland singles. Maybe this game gets real weird
  23. Maybe Holland goes on the DL with suckitis as soon as Miguel is ready
