July 8, 20178 yr Dickman batting somewhere other than 9th for the first time I can remember. It's about time.
July 9, 20178 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 05:55 PM) Dunning getting roughed up by a team he's faced three times now Are you implying something by the "faced three times" comment?
July 9, 20178 yr Dunning's final line - 5IP, 8H, 4ER, 6K, 3BB. Giolito and Stephens are both off to solid starts so far tonight.
July 9, 20178 yr QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 07:19 PM) Dunning's final line - 5IP, 8H, 4ER, 6K, 3BB. Giolito and Stephens are both off to solid starts so far tonight. Doesn't really seem like a terrible start unless those hits were hit hard. At least he still managed to K a bunch of guys.
July 9, 20178 yr I would seriously consider sending Bababe down to Kannapolis for a week or two. His confidence has to be pretty much shot at this point. My guess is it will happen when Call gets sent back to Winston Salem.
July 9, 20178 yr #WhiteSox Cody Asche is batting .366/.463/.604 in 42 games for @KnightsBaseball this season. He has a .500 OBP over his last 21 games. https://twitter.com/theaceofspaeder/status/...851956195778560 I'm in no rush to see him back in Chicago but those are remarkable numbers.
July 9, 20178 yr I noticed last night that Sam Dexter is now in Winston-Salem. Dude's on his third team in a month. 1 game @ Great Falls 10 games @ Kanny 2 games @ W-S
July 9, 20178 yr Author Giolito kicking ass and taking names tonight so far. 6 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 9 K.
July 9, 20178 yr Author Watching the bottom the the seventh (only a 7 inning game). Burdi is warming. Lucas looks like he's losing a little control.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 08:30 PM) Giolito complete game shutout! 7 IP 2 H 0 R 0 ER 2 BB 10 SO At least my Giolito prediction worked out!
July 9, 20178 yr Author QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 08:33 PM) Heck of a game for Giolito. He likes those 7 inning shutouts Take out his first 6 starts and his ERA sits around 3.92. I realize you can't take them out, but he's been more than respectable since that first month and a half. The strikeout numbers appear to be coming back as well.

The BP writer that was at the game was very impressed. Something I've noticed that shouldn't be a surprise is he seems to struggle against former Major Leaugers Edited July 9, 20178 yr by fathom
July 9, 20178 yr Author QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 08:43 PM) The BP writer that was at the game was very impressed I still don't think a Gavin Floyd comp for Lucas is far off at all. Floyd got a taste of the majors and then went to AAA the next year and had an ERA over 6. Both big guys with good fastball/curve combo with a lot of moving parts. I also think the same about him, Fulmer etc. that I do with a number of those Charlotte guys - I wouldn't mind seeing them in the majors to be around a major league staff. How many guys have we had come up this year that have looked better than their AAA numbers might indicate? Get them around our best coaches and away from whatever they are doing in Charlotte.

If Giolito can give the Sox Gavin Floyd's 2008-2012 production I'd sign up for that in a heartbeat.

I was actually thinking the same thing today. Giolito might be better off in the majors working with Coop.
July 9, 20178 yr So Giolito has a no-hit shutout and 2-hit shutout this season. Quite the mixed bag for him in a rollercoaster year.

July 9, 20178 yr Author QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 08:57 PM) I was actually thinking the same thing today. Giolito might be better off in the majors working with Coop. I think he's mentally strong enough to handle the challenge as well.
