  1. QUOTE (BDavisFutureHOF @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 09:50 PM) Possible package https://twitter.com/mibeltrodriguez/status/...163268799057920 Didn't someone here post that idea package? I'd still do it.
  2. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 09:38 PM) I'm getting more and more convinced Ravelo is in it. Can be wrong though. Semien, Ravelo, A-ball arm?
  3. I'll drive Hawkins to the airport
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 09:25 PM) Thing is, outside of Anderson and Rodon, there's really no one I'd be upset with if they're traded. You just don't want to see too much go for a rental. Pretty much.
  5. I hope May is in it, as I think his value is higher than his talent.
  6. We have to send Rally Crede
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 08:20 PM) Yeah well they will have to add 2. IMO I think the Big 12 will be absorbed by the other power 4 at some point to make it 4 majors. They don't have to do anything, and they remain a viable conference as long as Texas and Oklahoma want to stay put.
  8. Buster Olney @Buster_ESPN As mentioned a couple of weeks ago, Oakland interested in infielder Marcus Semien if there is a Jeff Samardzija deal with the White Sox.
  9. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 08:01 PM) If Marcus is the "centerpiece" of this deal for the Sox, you make the move. He's certainly not irreplaceable. Who's volunteering to drive him to the airport?
  10. Jeff Passan @JeffPassan White Sox reticent to give up high-level prospects because Samardzija under contract for only one year. Anderson, Montas may not be in play.
  11. Jeff Passan @JeffPassan Sources: If the White Sox do deal for Jeff Samardzija, return would be Marcus Semien and prospects. A's would slot Semien in at shortstop.
  12. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 07:41 PM) FWIW: Per @BiertempfelTrib , #Pirates tried to acquire Jeff Samardzija and John Danks, but there was no match. #MLBNHotStove This seems relevant to our team.
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 12:12 PM) If all other things are even, yes. But they wouldnt be most likely. The NCAA is going to force the Big 12 to have a championship game, its going to happen. The Big 12 has petitioned for the right to have a championship game with only ten members. I'm not sure why the NCAA would force them to. The NCAA doesn't run the College Football Playoff.
  14. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 04:48 PM) Just noticed this, Iowa State and UNI don't play each other this year? For some reason I thought the 4 DI Iowa schools (Iowa, ISU, UNI, Drake) always all played each other every season, Kind of a shame that isn't true. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 05:50 PM) There used to be something in place where they had to play each other, that's obviously gone. I'm sure Heads can give us a good answer. This has happened for a few years. They now have a Big 4 Classic in Des Moines, where Iowa and Iowa State play UNI and Drake. Neither Iowa or Iowa State wanted to play a home and home with either school anymore, so this was the only option for Drake and UNI.
  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 7, 2014 -> 11:52 AM) They eliminated head to head as the determining factor. No they didn't. They would always hand out a trophy for any teams that had the same record at the top. Head to head was still going to be used as the tiebreaker if a game required a "Big 12 Champion" such as when the Sugar Bowl isn't a semifinal. Tiebreaker Procedures Effective June 2014 The following procedure will determine the Big 12 Conference representative to the Sugar Bowl (or alternate College Football Playoff game when the Sugar Bowl is a semifinal) in the event of a first-place or alternate place tie (for the avoidance of doubt, only Conference records will be used throughout the process): If two teams are tied, the winner of the game between the two tied teams shall be the representative.
  16. Long DOES say that it was the title game. I don't agree with it, but he's telling the Big 12 to add a title game.
  17. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 7, 2014 -> 11:48 AM) The Big 12 changed the rules two weeks ago to try and game the system for a team they though had the best chance to make it. It's their fault anyway. What rule is that?
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2014 -> 11:29 AM) Cole Cubelic ‏@colecubelic 4h4 hours ago Overall record of opponents defeated: Alabama 81-63 FSU 83-73 Ohio St 80-63 Oregon 63-70 Baylor 61-70 TCU 61-71 Big 12 will inherently have more losses than conferences that only play 8 conference games.
  19. To that end, I completely think that Ohio State is one of the top 4 teams in the nation. I do not think Florida State is, but there is close to zero chance they are left out.
  20. You can make any argument against the Big 12 teams that you want, I still don't think the whole conference championship game thing should factor in. And if it does, the committee should say that they are penalizing the Big 12 for not playing an extra game. Grilling the whole "One True Champion" phrasing as why the Big 12 might miss the playoff seems to make the argument that the committee is full of idiots. "They said they have one true champion, but they gave out TWO trophies!!! How do we evaluate them?"
  21. Rock's scenario may play out especially if Ohio State has decided to win by 90
  22. Yeah, Arkansas might be a touch overrated. Their press was absolutely shredded tonight. They started holding the ball partway through the first half.
  23. I simply don't see the basis for dropping TCU two spots after winning this week, and I don't think they'll be punished for doing so. A win over Wisconsin is simply not that important. At that point, TCU might as well drop 3 spots if Baylor beats Kansas State.
  24. The conference that should be worried is the ACC. You have an undefeated team that's won 25 or whatever consecutive games behind three one loss teams and close to the edge of the playoff.
  25. QUOTE (danman31 @ Dec 3, 2014 -> 10:35 PM) You should know better than anyone that those games never make any sense. It's a true rivalry game where the relative quality of the two teams rarely seems to make a difference. I think the sarcasm was fairly obvious there. That game is played in November and Iowa wins by two scores. As it was, ISU probably should have won by more that day.
