I wonder how the college basketball world would be different if Coach K went to Iowa State. He and Orr were the two finalists back in the day, and we went with Johnny.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 6, 2010 -> 06:28 PM) just out of curiosity, why? Well, I'd be OK with Bradley too, since I like Jim Les. But I don't think they have a chance. And I sure as hell don't want it to be UNI. No real good reason, I suppose. But the Salukis are OK in my book. Plus, Row was nice to me once.

I hope the Salukis win the MVC, I honestly do.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 6, 2010 -> 06:04 PM) Heads, why are you so convinced you have the best RB in the state? Because I've watched him all year. I wouldn't have said it coming into the year.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jan 2, 2010 -> 11:23 PM) ***RB Shontrelle Johnson commits to ISU over Georgia Tech. He was committed to Northwestern for a short while. And now Florida has offered Johnson. Hold on tight, ISU, hold on tight.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 6, 2010 -> 01:01 PM) I'd love to see ISU get back to where they were in the early 2000's, or the 90's under Floyd, or even the 80's under Johnny Orr. Its a shame the program has been so weak the last half decade or so. Any chance they have the younger talent to start building back up? We didn't hire a good enough coach. I really think the only reason we hired him is because our AD was scared Iowa would hire him. And now, of course, the guy I wanted is getting things going at A&M. They have to make noise this year, because they will very likely lose Brackins and Gilstrap after this year and they are really thin in the post. Chris Colvin, from Chicago, will be a very good PG (think Will Blalock, but possibly more talented), but ISU may have to wait for the next coach to be any good. I remember Jas really wanting McDermott, but this is his fourth season and he's yet to beat a ranked team. That being said, there's no reason we can't beat Duke, or Kansas or Texas at home. We're a top 5 team nationally in three point shooting, so you're never really out of it. That and none of those three teams have John Shurna, who must be Superman.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 6, 2010 -> 02:28 PM) Do you like it? I've historically been a North Face guy, and ive switched to Mt Hard Wear lately and like the lighter winter coats. I'm looking for a good down coat now I think. Well, living in Iowa it's always done the job. They might seem a bit bulky, but they keep you warm. The key is always a good hat and gloves, plus boots if necessary.

f***ing beat f***ing duke. Greg McDermott might have the longest 0-fer against ranked teams, now 0-13.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 6, 2010 -> 12:02 PM) So since you are talking injuries, your RB is better than Jewel. We have a supreme team where it matters most. Don't even compare the two. Iowa is a legitimate top 10 team, Iowa State isn't a top 30 team. Not saying Iowa State didn't have a quality season, they did, but the two teams are on entirely different levels. Yes, Robinson is better than Hampton when both are healthy. You just can't ever accuse the Iowa offense of being anything special. And no, the teams aren't close.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 6, 2010 -> 12:30 AM) Laughable. Moakei, Davis, McNutt, two above average freshmen running backs. Laughable. Oh and one of the best olines in the league. Iowa has the better OL, WR and TE. ISU has the better RB and QB, I honestly believe. Stanzi is a better game manager, Arnaud has more talent. Iowa has the better RB corps, but ISU has the better #1 RB when healthy. Unfortunately, our QB broke his hand (and played the worst game of his career against Iowa) and the RB pulled his groin (but still ran for 152 against Kansas, and averaged over 5 ypc and ended with 100 against Iowa). That being said, both offenses are not anything special. Iowa's TE and WR are just appreciably better. That being said, your backfield is still loaded next year. Just need to find a QB.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 5, 2010 -> 10:58 PM) I'm not saying you're wrong. GT, IMO, was the better team in the 2nd half (after getting dominated in the 1st half) but 3-4 stupid decisions by GT cost them the chance to win. If these teams play 10 times, Iowa probably wins 7. I said all along it was a bad match-up for GT with Iowa's offensive/defensive lines. GT looked godawful.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 5, 2010 -> 10:47 PM) Bulls***, it was the same story of a "prolific offense" that hadn't seen a defense like the top few in the Big Ten. You give Norm Parker 30 days to prepare for a team that relies on deception and overpursuit, and you are toast. Especially when you have a few guys that will play on sunday. They held the #2 Rushing offense in the country to half their production, and their lowest point total all season. Nice job Hawks.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 5, 2010 -> 10:23 PM) These teams are both pretty mediocre. Iowa's the worst offense GT has faced in 3 months, and GT's players seem to be on drugs tonight. Tons of dumb decisions/penalties. The Orange Bowl has to be pissed about the teams they get.
