  1. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Aug 5, 2013 -> 01:49 PM) Sucks that Bulaga is missing the year, but it's not the end of the world. Packers are 22-6 and average 27.6 points per game with Newhouse at LT. PFF has Bulaga and Newhouse ranked nearly the same. Don't put too much weight into those though since they also have Bushrod and Webb being similar players in 2012.
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 10:18 AM) Why do people lose all semblance of critical evaluation skills when it comes to the Bears. Everyone turns into a Cubs-fan homer. Earl Bennett's best season came 4 years ago when he put up a whopping 700 some yards. He never stays healthy - every time he comes back and plays a game, he's out by the end of the 1st quarter. OK, so he'll go over the middle? Big whoop, his body can't handle it. 0 717 561 381 375 Wow, what a f***ing stud. How dare I suggest cutting an unreliable player who puts up such massive yardage totals every year. He's a slot receiver, his production is decent for a #3 considering he's never been in a system where there's 4600 yards of offense to go around. That's when he plays of course, as soon as he got the new deal he gets hurt every other week. There is not much to be gained in cutting him this year, though, at this point in the (off)season.
  3. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 09:25 AM) NFL Cracking Down On Celebrations Again Obviously because football is too fun. "As first noted by Pro Football Talk, reports out of multiple camps have officials warning players that they intend to more strictly enforce the unsportsmanlike conduct penalties already on the books. That includes: sack dances; home run swing; incredible hulk; spiking the ball; spinning the ball; throwing or shoving the ball; pointing; pointing the ball; verbal taunting; military salute; standing over an opponent (prolonged and with provocation); or dancing." Yeah, now let's see if they get serious about how many of their players are doing "Adderall"
  4. It's kinda like, have you ever gone to play NBA Live after playing NBA 2K for a long time? You find out the button you think is the pass button and it's actually the shoot button and you end up heaving 70-foot shots?
  5. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 2, 2013 -> 02:51 PM) This is actually pretty funny. Your phone would have rebooted to the bootloader every time afterwards had you not fixed it. Yeah I don't know why I didn't think of that first. Could've skipped a lot of steps.
  6. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 2, 2013 -> 03:04 PM) I am totally dumbfounded as to what is wrong with the placement of the power button It's annoying as f***. It's always been on the right... I'm right handed but I hold it in my left so my finger sits on the other side where the power button ISN'T, I go up there to press the button and it's not there. I've had the phone since launch and still not really used to it.
  7. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Aug 2, 2013 -> 01:58 PM) That gives it character, and a battle scar in that you worked on it! I considered that too
  8. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Aug 2, 2013 -> 01:33 PM) So it's all working now? Send their replacement back to them...no need to pay for something you don't really need, right? Yeah, after all that I ended up not needing it. But I couldn't figure out what it was at first and I had to go through all that rigamarole. At the end of the day UPS ends up getting some extra business. Now I gotta figure out where to buy a down volume button on the internet somewhere - it works fine but it's mangled-looking and scratched up after what I did to it.
  9. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Aug 2, 2013 -> 01:23 PM) No way. Complain, complain and complain some more. The fact that their OTA update bricked your phone has nothing to do with you, or the condition of your phones casing. That's their own fault, and you need to press them to own up too it. That's absolutly absurd. Had the update THEY released from QA not bricked your phone, it would have still worked, regardless of case condition. That is 100% on them, and they should accept full responsibility. The OTA didn't brick my phone though. It works now. The software was doing what it's supposed to do (it goes to hboot if you hold down volume while it's starting up, like pressing del to go to BIOS on a computer)
  10. I had a pretty odd sequence of events happen with my phone yesterday. So T-Mobile released an OTA update for the HTC One and I downloaded it yesterday. Normally you download it, install, and wait for it to finish, it reboots, shows a quick upgrade screen and that's it. Mine got stuck on the hboot screen you get when you're putting a new ROM on it or something though which sucked. I called customer service and they sent me another phone but mentioned I'd have to pay a $175 insurance fee if there was physical damage. I figured f*** it, better than having a non-functional phone, but I wouldn't be able to get the data off the phone. To make this already-long story not even longer, the aluminum case on the One is strong but not indestructible, and it was pressing in my volume down button (which hadn't been a problem until now) so I took a small screwdriver and pried the button off, and the phone finally was able to get past that screen, and a pair of pliers fixed that dent. Because I didn't really break the volume button I was able to put it back in, so now I got this phone coming and I don't want to pay the $175 because there's nothing wrong with my phone except it looks like a small animal tried to chew near my volume button. Whoops.
  11. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Aug 2, 2013 -> 11:16 AM) I agree, and I hope they don't...being that IMO, their flagship HTC One is the best Android based device ever released. Then again, I'm an Apple user, so my opinion on that doesn't mean all that much. But it is the first and only Android phone that made me say, "Hmmm..." after it was released. They feel amazingly well made, and look good/high quality. I've never been a fan of the cheapy feel of Samsung phones. I jerk off to my phone
  12. Watching the House GOP try and work is almost funny. They're good with passing the Ryan budget so long as it's an abstract theory, but when it comes time to cut funding during the appropriations process and they see how much they have to cut, they balk, and have to yank the bill from the floor. It's basically impossible for them to govern (since relying on Democratic votes is a non-starter).
  13. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 1, 2013 -> 02:32 PM) Thank you. I saw it go out over Twitter and some responses I saw made me think at least some people thought it was real. And I figured there was a chance that Hawk was hamming it up for them. But still seemed unlikely. How sad is it that I thought there was a small chance he actually said those things? Not sure if that is bad for me, or bad for Hawk. lol I actually thought this too while reading it and about halfway through I realized "banking industry" was being subbed for "sabermetrics"
  14. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 1, 2013 -> 12:40 PM) That's just surreal to me but I've never been married let alone been a relationship of over five years. That's some pretty scary s***. I would hope I never feel that way but I imagine that being together with someone for a long time will eventually lead to some animosity. I say it halfway in jest, but you WILL fight with your significant other at some point
  15. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 1, 2013 -> 12:11 PM) Awww s*** man. Sometimes you just got to be the bigger man. People who've been married for over 5 years understand and accept that there will be times where they feel like strangling their spouse.
  16. I'm having one of those "I'm 100% right, but for the sake of peace I need to be quiet" moments. Just because I love my spouse doesn't mean I like her all the time or can even stand her ass at certain moments.
  17. For what it's worth, the Alouettes have fallen apart without Trestman, Calvillo's QB rating plummeted, and they just fired their HC.
  18. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Aug 1, 2013 -> 12:48 AM) It was a joke... I couldn't care less that Cutler opened the 1st 2 practices with INTs. It's hard to tell sometimes especially while I'm watching my Twitter have a meltdown.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 02:10 PM) Here's idea #1, if you want to keep high paying jobs around, support them. Pretty much every single failed industry in the United States is a result of one of two things. #1 Technology making it obsolete. #2 People supporting cheaper versions of American industries leading to its failure. If you want American industry around, quit buying non-American stuff. Virtually impossible since almost everything is made in China. However, were China to stop buying US debt for whatever reason, they'd lose access to the US market and nobody would be able to buy all their cheap crap anymore and the US would respond by internally producing those things again and maybe competing with China's exports, so no way do they want to do that.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 01:15 PM) You still aren't understanding what I am saying. It is people in general, not me specifically. Yeah not saying "you" said any of this. I'm just talking about a general theme over the course of 10 years or so of paying attention. But even given the "this was a totally Dem-inflicted catastrophe" and say the residents of Detroit did a 180 and voted for Republican leadership what would that have changed? That would've done nothing about the crippling manufacturing jobs, mistakes by the both the UAW and the management of the Big Three, the white flight (or whatever the appropriate name for that phenomenon is - people abandoning the city), the population losses and declining tax revenues, or other auto plants opening without unions in southern states that never have snow days.
  21. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 12:51 PM) Baseball America made the perfect comparison for Iglesias - Rey Ordonez. Rey was a f***ing amazing fielder, but just an abysmal hitter with no silver lining at the plate. While he has some of the best UZR numbers I've ever seen, he only exceeded 1.1 WAR once in his career. Ozzie Guillen
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 11:23 AM) Not all pensions come from there. Also 30 years ago, would you have bet on Detroit being bankrupt? 30 years ago probably not, but by 20 years ago it was pretty clear the downward spiral was irreversible. I can't really understand the mentality of people who can barely contain their glee at the news that Detroit's bankrupt though, because they're the same people who pushed Detroit into the water and held its head under when they saw it off-balance by the edge of the pool.
  23. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 10:27 AM) But they potentially gave up their RF of the future? Maybe it makes them better this year, but in the future they may wish they still had Garcia instead of Julio. Tigers aren't building a team, the team is already complete. They've got an open championship window they're trying to head through. You make that move if you have to. Kind of like the Bulls with the Bobcats pick, that's an asset and if you have a chance to use it to acquire a player that gets them over the hump, you don't hold onto the pick. Championships > assets
  24. It's just so unfortunate he was hurt so often. Imagine if Javier Vazquez or Gavin Floyd had the intensity Peavy does. Man. Vazquez would have multiple Cy Youngs.
  25. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 10:11 AM) If Avisail Garcia turns into Miguel Cabrera with the bat, which frankly he has a shot to do...then Hahn will win executive of the year pretty quick. He won't get it by moving any contract on our roster, we weren't in that bad of shape before moving Peavy, we're in great shape now. I started to say "you're smoking that s***" but I looked at Cabrera's milb numbers and they were nothing special until he tore up AAA. Granted, haven't checked out the peripherals or anything but still. Not that I think this will actually happen. That's like saying J immy Butler will turn into Kobe Bryant.
