Indians @ White Sox 7/2/08
Not a comcast issue. The over the air HD signal is messed up. Earlier on The Score they said that the phone service (ISDN, T1, etc. I assume) to the Cell had been cut accidentally by a city of Chicago employee. They said that they had restored the lines used for broadcast. Do they use any of those lines for tv broadcast? Maybe that's the issue.

Town Cancels Musical Over Language Concerns
QUOTE (Texsox @ Jul 2, 2008 -> 10:24 AM) Shall we also condemn every theater group in the country that has not produced this musical? What does this mean? How did you draw this inference? Shall I also stand on my head while drinking water? Shall I also wear yellow clothing? Why should the government fund entertainment, but not education?

Sox Bullpen Best Ever?!
QUOTE (Felix @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 11:02 PM) Considering the fact that the bullpen was better in 2005.. I have trouble believing that this is the best ever. 2005 BP ERA:3.23 WHIP: 1.30 Opponent OPS: .697 K:BB 2:1 2008 BP ERA: 2.61 WHIP: 1.17 Opponent OPS: .627 K:BB 3:1 Now, it's early yet, but I'm not sure how you have already reached the conclusion that the 2005 edition was better. The 2008 gang has been so successful. They're probably due for a bit of a dip, but let's keep our fingers crossed.

Congrats Alexei!
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 28, 2008 -> 08:39 PM) That's who I was talking about. Alexei the elder is already signed to three more years. How many more years are you going to sign him for, 10?

Cubs @ Sox - Game 2 - 2:55 PM 06/28
Have a day, Alexei. There was an obligatory shot of a man-boobed fan celebrating in the stands.

Cubs @ Sox - Game 2 - 2:55 PM 06/28
Dye didn't get all of that. He just muscled it out to center field. Pretty incredible.

Oney promoted...
QUOTE (scenario @ Jun 27, 2008 -> 08:46 AM) He'll eventually end up in Chicago... just not as a player. I'm thinking 2015 hitting coach.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 02:11 PM) Screw it, we really don't need Ray Durham. Their offensive stats are comparable and AR's defense is probably better at this point. 2B is not a hole for us.

Dana Carvey's new comedy special
QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 02:10 PM) I remember the "Dana Carvey Show" that lasted like 4 weeks because he did something pretty offensive. It was hilarious stuff. Wish I could remember why it was yanked by the network. It involved George H.W. Bush with puppies suckling from a set of his teats, IIRC.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 02:16 PM) Octavio still has a huge ass. Don't hold it against him. That's where he derives his power.

Marte was good every year with the Sox except for 2005. 2005 was the only year that most fans hated him. I think one of the best stats for a middle reliever is WHIP. His was over 1.7 that year--awful. Marte was bailed out time after time by the excellent Sox pen that year. Baseball prospectus keeps a stat called BQR, bequeathed runners prevented from scoring. Marte's BQR was 11.6. He was one of only 9 relievers to have a double-digit BQR that year. In other words (as we saw in the Boston/El Duque game), he was lucky as heck/Ozzie pulled him out in the nick of time.
