QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Apr 24, 2014 -> 02:43 PM) I'm from Ireland, yes. I feel like I've learned a lot about baseball but I accept that others will inevitably know more. I think Cleto is a fairly easy case to analyse though, he just can't throw strikes. Until he learns how to, I would say it's a fairly uncontroversial opinion to say the Sox should stop putting him in for high-leverage situations, no? No, it was a not a slight. I was saying for someone who came in with little or no knowledge of the game, that was a very astute comment you made about Cleto, and I feel the exact same way. They need to hone his control in situations that won't hurt the team. Don't give up on his arm, but don't put him in situations where he is likely to fail either. Build him up for it.

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Apr 24, 2014 -> 02:35 PM) I just don't get it. If you want to gamble on Cleto's stuff and have him work on it, then you should be hiding him at the back of the bullpen. We won a game by 14 runs the other day and he wasn't put in. Yet he's continuously getting put in in high-leverage situations when the only good stat he has this year is a fluky ERA. (Granted he's been a touch unlucky today but he's been very lucky other days) Are you the guy from Ireland who doesn't know anything about baseball?

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 24, 2014 -> 02:29 PM) This coaching staff likes Cleto way too much. That's because no one can hit off the guy. Unfortunately, no one has to because he has no idea where he is throwing it. I think they are expecting if he just throws it over the plate, the hitter won't stand a chance.

QUOTE (beautox @ Apr 24, 2014 -> 12:52 PM) Nice AB by jose making the adjustment low and away but got blown away with a 94mph heater down the middle. Well, that can't be right. Unless it doesn't account for pitches thrown OUT of that zone, because Abreu's 2nd HR in Colorado was on a pitch up and away that he blasted over the RCF wall.
