  1. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 02:57 PM) Manny at SS? Probably not a good idea.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 03:32 PM) Trust me, doing that does nobody any good except make our fan base look like a bunch of f***ing morons, no disrespect intended. I suppose you enjoy watching your games in silence and like to enjoy a cup of tea rather than a cold beer? You sound like a real downer to hang around with....
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 03:25 PM) It actually seems like a douchey thing to do. I'm no fan of Kotsay's but he didn't do anything to deserve that type of treatment from the fans. He tried his best and was put into a position to fail. ......says the guy who runs the "IMPEACH KOTSAY" fanclub...... lol.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 03:25 PM) yeah it's always good to embarrass a guy wearing the White Sox jersey. Really productive in mocking our own team while trying to beat the Yankees. Very smart. Oh, so funny as well. Trust me, Kotsay does most of the embarrassing when he is at the plate. No one is better at embarrassing Kotsay than Kotsay himself.
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 03:13 PM) Why not just chant it when every hitter comes up? I don't think it will help anything, just make it seem like the Sox are insecure and want a cheater on the team. The point is that Manny is replacing Kotsay (hopefully), thus we chant "Man-ny" when Kotsay comes up so he realizes he is about to lose his job. Sounds hilarious to me. I hope it happens.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 03:10 PM) No it wouldn't. Why? You got man love for Kotsay or something?
  7. So does Manny basically get the next couple of days off so he doesn't risk any injury before a trade happens?
  8. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 03:04 PM) i'm gonna laugh when i hear chants of "man-ny! man-ny!" every time kotsay comes to bat this weekend. God I hope so, that would be awesome!
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 02:29 PM) Any chance KW gets impatient and sweetens the deal in order to get Manny here asap? He would really come in handy this weekend. I was thinking that too. Maybe so "Ok, we will pay all the contract, and throw in a player IF you make the trade today so we can have Manny against New York" This weekend series is huge, and having Manny for it would be amazing.
  10. QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 09:14 PM) Sporcle commenters can be real b****es. lol, I agree. I think I handled them OK though.
  11. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 09:20 PM) Linebrink + Hoffmen!!! Lets get the band back together Linebrink, Hoffman, and Peavy will form our Padre Trio. And Manny, Pierre, and Jones will form our Dodgers Trio. And Pena, Quentin, and Jackson make our Dbacks Trio. Vizquel, AJ, and Threets make up our Giants Trio. All we need is 3 Rockies players to make a monopoly on the NL West!
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 09:01 PM) Wasn't Saladino drafted this year? Yeah, maybe it was Escobar.
  13. http://www.sporcle.com/games/JoeCoolMan24/...houtCityorState Submitted by yours truly.
  14. QUOTE (Bruce_Blixton @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 07:28 PM) Brandon Short and Saladino have been out of their respective lineups for a while now, are they on the DL or something? Maybe one of them IS being traded for Manny as someone suggested.
  15. Who gets the 9th? Harrell?
  16. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 09:27 PM) Didnt KW pull this same thing around the time of acquiring Peavy? Mention walkups in your public quotes to milk the trade pressures for all it's worth financially.... "Whenever I've talked to (Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf), it's less about money even though we are stretched right now," Williams said, speaking in general terms. "We are stretched, and quite frankly we're looking at walkups every day to see exactly what we're going to have available to us. But he certainly hasn't given me any reason to think there are any restrictions right now on dollars." What does he mean by "walkups" ??
  17. Pretty good outing for Collop. He now has 116 K to 29 BB. Very nice. Morel is 1/2 with a BB. AVG to .325 now.
  18. ESPN Gamecast is showing that the 2nd pitch to Luke Scott was not even close to being a ball, but was called one....
  19. I am pretty surprised MLBTR has not picked up on that. Hoffman is pretty big name.
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 05:11 PM) If he's hit that many significant bombs, then Jones is a moron for not at least making better contact sometimes to have his average be .250. At the least he could have had all of Kotsay's at bats throughout the year. He should have had at least most. Kotsay has been a bucket of suck.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 02:35 PM) It might be boring and take a long time, but it'd be neat to see when he hit each of his home runs and did they contribute to a victory? No, I'm not looking it up. 4/12 vs. Blue Jays. 2-run HR in 2nd inning. Score was 0-0. Solo HR in 6th inning. Score was 6-4 Jays. 4/14 vs. Blue Jays. Solo HR in 2nd inning. Score was 0-0. 4/20 vs. Rays. Solo HR in 6th inning. Score was 2-1 Sox. 4/23 vs. Mariners. Solo HR in 1st inning. Score was 0-0. Solo HR in 9th inning. Score was 6-6 tie. Walk-off HR. 5/1 vs. Yankees. Solo HR in 1st inning. Score was 0-0. Solo HR in 3rd inning. Score was 2-0 Sox. 5/5 vs. Royals. 2-run HR in 1st inning. Score was 0-0. 6/3 vs. Rangers. Solo HR in 2nd inning. Score was 0-0. 7/6 vs. Angels. Solo HR in 7th inning. Score was 2-1 Sox. 7/11 vs. Royals. 3-run HR in 3rd inning. Score was 4-1 Sox. 7/19 vs. Mariners. Solo HR in 8th inning. Score was 4-1 Sox. 7/27 vs. Mariners. 3-run HR in 5th inning. Score was 8-0 Sox. 7/31 vs. A's. 2-run HR in 7th inning. Score was 4-0 A's. 8/15 vs. Tigers. Solo HR in 8th inning. Score was 9-7 Tigers. 8/18 vs. Twins. 3-run HR in 2nd inning. Score was 2-0 Twins. There you go. 11 of his 17 HR were when the Sox were tied or losing. 8 of those 17 HR put the Sox into the lead. So, we are talking nearly half his HR have been extremely meaningful HRs.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 03:16 PM) In the Sox situation, they have probably already ran their players through waivers to be ready to make deals I wish once a player cleared waivers, it became public knowledge. I know they let us know about well known players, but I wish I could see a comprehensive list of all players who have cleared waivers.
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 03:00 PM) If Andruw Jones is worth 3.8 million this season, I feel sorry for all those great ballplayers of the past who were lucky to make that in 10 years. My god, the inflated salaries. I woudn't be against Kotsay giving Jones some of his money to make up the difference. I hate Kotsay more than I do Jones. I still say neither should be on the team if you are trying to win anything significant, like a division. I agree, these players make insanely too much money, but I digress.... Who would be a better option on our bench then Andruw Jones? Because, as I said, Andruw is giving us a lot of production off the bench, regardless of batting average. If he was hitting .280, but with 8 HR, would you be more inclined to think more highly of him? Because despite his awful batting average, he is supplying a lot of runs via power numbers.
  24. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 03:00 PM) Can they be traded if they cleared waivers though or does that not matter? I'm sure that no one claimed either guy. Yes, that is the only way a player on the 40-man can be traded, if he clears waivers, which both probably would.
  25. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 02:58 PM) I know that last line is a joke but thats not possible since they are on the 40 man roster. Well, technically they can be a PTBNL, but maybe only Linebrink since he is signed through '11 and Kotsay is not.
