  1. Abreu wasn't on the bag. Dear lord.
  2. Floating changeup that could've been hammered taken for strike 3. This just isn't our game today.
  3. Fry looks like he could be a nice bullpen piece when this team is good.
  4. Something about Odorizzi has to make these high fastballs so tempting because a lot of these aren't even close to being strikes and they're still swinging at them.
  5. Some really borderline pitches being called strikes for Odorizzi
  6. If we could stop striking out against Odorizzi that would be swell.
  7. I'll take solo homers if he's not walking anybody and striking people out.
  8. That and the change on the pitch before it were NASTY. Man, if he's figured something out...
  9. I don't disagree with any of this in theory, but the Bulls have never shown the ability to attract big free agents, nor have they packaged assets to trade for a young star (like the Rockets). It's really unlikely that will change now. It seems like the best bet now is to see what a sign & trade of Lavine gets you, see if you can get anything for Lopez and/or Portis, and maybe acquire a bad contract in exchange for future first rounder(s). Get a top 10 pick next year and build a young core that way. See if that makes you attractive enough for a free agent or two or if you can trade some of Dunn/Markkanen/WCJ/Portis/2019 pick for a star. I don't see any of the above happening though, so that's why I think the Bulls are in NBA hell.
  10. I don't think anyone disagrees with you on this. None of us have faith that the Bulls will do this, though. More likely they'll end up in the mid-teens next year, draft another rotational player and continue to hope they strike gold with their 1 draft pick or someone on the roster takes the next step.
  11. Yeah, the Rockets. Not the Bulls. I'd love to see the Bulls do that but it's probably not gonna happen.
  12. It's just not very likely, and I even if it is I don't think GarPax will take any chances.
  13. This sounds like what we've been hoping to happen since like 2005.
  14. I saw that article but I'm just going off the gut reaction and the quotes from the ESPN draft stream. Man I hope you're right. I dread a return to a 3-5 seed and a first/second round exit.
  15. Maybe you're right. I think it's just more disappointment that the Bulls ended up at 7 in a top 5 draft (after MPJ got hurt).
  16. I hope I'm wrong but I would much rather not spend a lotto pick on a "compliment". Seems like the Bulls are putting themselves right back in NBA hell.
  17. He won't have an Abreu season by the end of the year. That's a pretty soft consequence.
  18. I'm not comfortable saying a player with a 1.5 WAR average should be valued at 2-3 WAR based on a third of his age 29 season where he's seriously outperformed his career averages and is a prime candidate for regression.
  19. He's been worth less than 1 fWAR per year in his career. Minnesota won that trade for sure but I'm not overly sad about losing a decent bench player.
  20. I know he went to SF in '93 but imagine the '93 and '94 Sox with Bonds... he had an OPS+ of 206 and was worth 10 WAR in '93.
  21. It's interesting the split on Singer - after watching his last start I wouldn't be surprised if he slips. He was 89-92 with his fastball and had trouble putting hitters away with 2 strikes. He left quite a few balls over the plate and got hit harder than his final line would indicate.
  22. Casey Mize Cole Winn Joey Bart Brady Singer Nick Madrigal
  23. For those who didn't look: in 71 games Beckham hit .411/.519/.804
  24. Part of me wants to take a shot because of his history but he has been BAD for 200+ innings now and I don't know if there's anything left there. Plus he only wants to start and seems to have a bad attitude.
  25. I don't mind it in general but Wacha has a hard time throwing strikes and you're close to getting him out of there so I'd much rather he take.
