  1. Hudson, Morel, and Flowers...let's do it.
  2. QUOTE (danman31 @ Dec 10, 2009 -> 09:05 AM) Wow. That Mota one was under everyone's radar. Never heard of him. Cubs picked up Mota from the Nationals for cash.
  3. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/team/playe...layer_id=449157 Saw this guy on the Sox 40-man. Oops--he was taken by the Cubs today.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 10, 2009 -> 08:01 PM) Gardner as an occassional starter, a pinch runner and a defensive replacement sounds pretty good. Brett Gardner every day leadoff man is pretty, pretty, sad. And those penciling in Putz as a lights out reliever haven't been paying attention. He is auditioning for teams. They still don't know if he can throw 70 MPH. I'm not claiming to be the foremost expert on Brett Gardner, but what makes you say he can't leadoff for the White Sox? He just may need the opportunity he didn't have with the Yankees. His minor league career was pretty good. He has plus speed, plus defense, and he can take a walk. I think it's worth a shot especially when you have some guys on the bench like Kotsay and Jones.
  5. 1. Gardner - CF 2. Beckham - 2B 3. Quentin - LF 4. Matsui - DH 5. Konerko - 1B 6. Pierzynski - C 7. Rios - RF 8. Teahen - 3B 9. Ramirez - SS Yeah, that looks right. Get that done. Sign Putz too and were all set.
  6. AA Phase -Sox pass No Sox players taken. Snoozer.
  7. AAA Phase- White Sox pass A couple Sox products taken: Washington took Arismendy Mota-RHP NY Mets took John Lujan-RHP
  8. No White Sox players were taken in the major league phase.
  9. Mariners took former Sox product Kanekoa Texeira.
  10. White Sox pass.
  11. QUOTE (G&T @ Dec 9, 2009 -> 04:42 PM) This has been a pretty boring winter meetings for most teams. It was last year too. They'd be better off waiting until January...at the very least AFTER the non-tender date.
  12. It sounds like Kenny and Rick were in a lot of trade talks today. Something is bound to happen Wednesday.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 07:22 PM) I really can't believe there is a White Sox fan alive that wants Milton Bradley on the White Sox. I agree. And if you know anything about Kenny Williams, he's not going to bring that psycho into the clubhouse.
  14. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 05:10 PM) Do you think that Indy could be considered for a MLB team? No. They're surrounded by Cubs, Cardinals, and Reds fans. Probably a few Sox fans too.
  15. I think Kenny was just being funny. Technically, he's not allowed to talk about Halladay since it would be tampering. They aren't supposed to discuss players already under contract.
  16. So this thread is about Mark Gonzales? Fail.
  17. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 3, 2009 -> 03:55 PM) Doesn't it seem like Rios playing center should be a higher priority than acquiring a leadoff hitter? I think we should acquire a RF or LF more so than a leadoff hitter. The Sox don't have a leadoff hitter right now. Unless you want Alejandro De Aza to do it.
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 3, 2009 -> 03:46 PM) Why do we appear to be so against the idea of playing Rios in CF? I don't think anyone is against it, per se. It's more that the Sox need a leadoff hitter, and that more than likely will be from the CF position, more than RF. If they get a LF leadoff hitter, then Rios will be in CF and Quentin will move to RF.
  19. OK, I listened to it. They don't start talking White Sox until minute 13. First off, he's a very laid back guy. Dry sense of humor (like Robin Ventura). Wants number 24. I don't think he's got his mind on the White Sox quite yet...and that's ok. The Royals are all he's known, so I'm sure once he shows up to Glendale or maybe Soxfest that it will start to set in. Had some things to say about AJ...typical you hate him as an opponent, but love him as a teammate. Overall, it's a good listen, and he seems like a quality guy and a good interview. Now, if he can hit .275, hit 20 homers, and knock in 80 while playing an above average 3B.
  20. Here's a 40 minute interview with Teahen. I haven't listened to it yet, but if you have the time, go for it. http://www.stationcaster.com/player.php?s=...373&f=38675
  21. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 3, 2009 -> 02:23 PM) Holy s***! Is that really Viciedo? He looks great. And when I say that I mean he looks like he's dropped some weight. I'm thinking at least 20 pounds.
  22. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/artic...sp&c_id=cws Not sure about the headline saying Thompson is on the fast track to the majors, but whatever.
  23. QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 28, 2009 -> 12:12 PM) Perhaps he was told to say that by his lawyer. These guys were probably thinking that Congress was "railroading" them. Making them look bad in the court of public opinion, so they played it straight and refused to "narc" on each other. Until a positive test shows up, like in Bonds' or Palmeiro's case, I see no direct reason to deny McGwire. How's your vision? Mark McGwire took steroids, and there is plenty of anecdotal evidence that the feds didn't follow up on with McGwire.
  24. Roberto Alomar Bert Blyleven Andre Dawson Jack Morris I wish I could say Mattingly was because he was so incredible for a good amount of time, but that back injury cut him short. Raines falls short in my opinion. He had seven great seasons, and then he kinda was just there. I mean, it's a real close call, but I gotta say no. Barry Larkin--He'll probably get in, but I'd probably want another year to think about it if I was a voter. Lee Smith doesn't pass the smell test with me. Relief pitching is the toughest call. I don't think Sutter belongs in there either. Edgar Martinez--no way. I really think he was a roider anyway. Part of me thinks if Ozzie Smith is in, so should Alan Trammell. I could go either way with him. McGriff and Murphy both fall a little short too. The rest--dump them, including McGwire. His only criteria is homers, and that was done by cheating. He's a piece of s***.
  25. Yeah, if the Sox trade Alexei to Boston, it has to be for Ellsbury...otherwise I wouldn't make that trade. It has to be for an everyday player. I think Beckham would be a solid, but not great, shortstop. I know he'd like that move.
