  1. OK, I listened to it. They don't start talking White Sox until minute 13. First off, he's a very laid back guy. Dry sense of humor (like Robin Ventura). Wants number 24. I don't think he's got his mind on the White Sox quite yet...and that's ok. The Royals are all he's known, so I'm sure once he shows up to Glendale or maybe Soxfest that it will start to set in. Had some things to say about AJ...typical you hate him as an opponent, but love him as a teammate. Overall, it's a good listen, and he seems like a quality guy and a good interview. Now, if he can hit .275, hit 20 homers, and knock in 80 while playing an above average 3B.
  2. Here's a 40 minute interview with Teahen. I haven't listened to it yet, but if you have the time, go for it. http://www.stationcaster.com/player.php?s=...373&f=38675
  3. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 3, 2009 -> 02:23 PM) Holy s***! Is that really Viciedo? He looks great. And when I say that I mean he looks like he's dropped some weight. I'm thinking at least 20 pounds.
  4. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/artic...sp&c_id=cws Not sure about the headline saying Thompson is on the fast track to the majors, but whatever.
  5. QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 28, 2009 -> 12:12 PM) Perhaps he was told to say that by his lawyer. These guys were probably thinking that Congress was "railroading" them. Making them look bad in the court of public opinion, so they played it straight and refused to "narc" on each other. Until a positive test shows up, like in Bonds' or Palmeiro's case, I see no direct reason to deny McGwire. How's your vision? Mark McGwire took steroids, and there is plenty of anecdotal evidence that the feds didn't follow up on with McGwire.
  6. Roberto Alomar Bert Blyleven Andre Dawson Jack Morris I wish I could say Mattingly was because he was so incredible for a good amount of time, but that back injury cut him short. Raines falls short in my opinion. He had seven great seasons, and then he kinda was just there. I mean, it's a real close call, but I gotta say no. Barry Larkin--He'll probably get in, but I'd probably want another year to think about it if I was a voter. Lee Smith doesn't pass the smell test with me. Relief pitching is the toughest call. I don't think Sutter belongs in there either. Edgar Martinez--no way. I really think he was a roider anyway. Part of me thinks if Ozzie Smith is in, so should Alan Trammell. I could go either way with him. McGriff and Murphy both fall a little short too. The rest--dump them, including McGwire. His only criteria is homers, and that was done by cheating. He's a piece of s***.
  7. Yeah, if the Sox trade Alexei to Boston, it has to be for Ellsbury...otherwise I wouldn't make that trade. It has to be for an everyday player. I think Beckham would be a solid, but not great, shortstop. I know he'd like that move.
  8. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 25, 2009 -> 01:51 PM) B&B just said there's breaking news on the Sox...I think it might have something to do with Crisp. I hope not. Too soon to make that move, I think.
  9. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Nov 24, 2009 -> 02:13 PM) Is this the best we can do?? REALLY? CO CO CRISP?? .228 batting average?? Please NO! I hope we can do better... And I think they can and will do better. Nothing wrong with keeping Crisp as an option if everything else falls through. Better than last offseason where they had Jerry Owens failing again and Dewayne Wise leading off on opening day.
  10. Some press conference video. I wouldn't be surprised if he wore #17. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/artic...sp&c_id=cws

  12. Be patient. They need to get a couple bats and a couple bullpen arms. They will before spring training which is in three months.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 23, 2009 -> 11:37 AM) I wonder if Rice would have gotten in had he played outside of NE. I think he would have. He basically had to wait for 15 years because of spite. He was hated, and voters could always fall back on the fact he didn't play a long time. The numbers he put up in a 12-year period were really great. Rookie of the year, won an MVP, 4 other top-5 MVPs. He was always deserving.
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 23, 2009 -> 11:25 AM) He won't get in. His offensive stats are nice, but the fact that he was a DH for the second half of his career probably put the nail on the coffin. If Jim Rice can get in with his stats, so can Baines. The only difference is that Rice actually played a position on the field and that matters. Rice's career was more compact. His peak numbers were over a 10-12 year period where he was clearly one of the elite run producers and feared hitters in baseball. Baines accumulated big numbers over 20+ seasons. If you're an "accumulator", you have to get to 500 homers and/or 3000 hits. Baines didn't get to either and he never got close to winning an MVP. He came in 9th once and 10th once. He just doesn't cut it as a Hall of Fame player. He got his number retired and a statue from the White Sox...that's his Hall of Fame.

    His nickname should be Lumpy.
  16. Morel? Yes, I think he'll be a major league starter. CJ? I don't see why he can't be a utility player. You can put him anywhere on the field, and he's not afraid to get a big hit. Do I think he'll ever be an everyday major league player? Probably not.
  17. Not sure about the dogpile after the game, but good for CJ. It's unbelievable how many times he comes through in those situations. I like Morel's swing. Seems like a solid player.
  18. http://www.mlb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?si...pddwin_perwin_1 Danks, Morel, and Retherford all starting today.
  19. Whoa, are you sure Marrero had to be protected this year? I find it hard to believe he wouldn't have been.
  20. Sox protected: Stefan Gartrell-OF Brandon Hynick-RHP Brian Omogrosso-RHP Sergio Santos-RHP Santo Luis -RHP http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/press...sp&c_id=cws

Not that I think the Sox would want Lowe, but would the Braves be in the market for Jenks?
  22. Brandon Allen has had an awful AFL. Batting .164.
  23. http://www.mlb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?si...scowin_perwin_1 Danks single. Morel 2-RBI double.
  24. QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Nov 19, 2009 -> 01:16 PM) How many spots are available on the 40-man? The Teahen trade freed one up, no? If you count all of the free agents being off there tomorrow, there are 32 on the 40-man.
