Will KW make a move prior to Soxfest?
I think they'll sign a catcher. If they get another bat, it'll be in early February.

Who are you pulling for as the DH?
QUOTE (jphat007 @ Dec 30, 2009 -> 11:35 AM) If we go in with the offense we have right now, it is very likely that we won't be in it on July 31. It's a possibility of course, all these guys could have career years, but it isn't very likely. We have a very very bad offense right now. I don't think the offense is as bad as some think. Of course Quentin and Rios have to perform in order for the Sox offense to be effective, but I'm not going to worry about it. Quentin should be healthy going into the season, and Rios will come back to his career averages. That's my hope at least. And a full year of Beckham should be helpful. I see an All Star appearance for Gordon in 2010.

Who are you pulling for as the DH?
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Dec 30, 2009 -> 11:17 AM) My major concern with Vlad is that he can't move anymore. If you think Kotsay's knees are bad, i'd bet anything that Vlads' are in shreds. Yeah, we don't want Vlad..or at least I don't. He's declining at an alarming rate. He can't play the field. He can't run. It would be worse than just signing Thome, and I don't want that either. I'm almost beginning to think the right thing to do is just stand pat and see what develops in the first half with Jones and Kotsay getting the AB's. Then make a move or two before July 31. Whatever move that needs to be--starting pitcher, bullpen, another hitter.

I'd be surprised if it was hard core street drugs. I'm going with anorexia with a combination of alcohol and prescription drugs.

AGon discussion, et. al.
I'm giving up any hope of getting Gonzalez before opening day. It's not going to happen. I think they'll pick up a backup catcher, and invite a few LHPs to spring training. Otherwise, I think they're done making moves.

Freddy Garcia vs. Daniel Hudson vs. other options
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Dec 18, 2009 -> 12:56 PM) Your point being I hope the Big 4 get 32-33 starts each, and Garcia gets 30 starts at the most. If he gets 15 wins, it probably means the Sox go 19-11 in his starts. 8 over .500 for the 5th starter? Yes, please.

Freddy Garcia vs. Daniel Hudson vs. other options
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Dec 18, 2009 -> 12:52 PM) Mark I really thjink you are worrying to much. It's expereince versus youth. Hudson can learn this year and unless he gets traded as so many of our prospects do than he will most likely be starting in 2011. I really believe Garcia is good for 12-15 wins as the #5 starter 12 would be a stretch. 15 would mean the Sox ran away with the division.

White Sox acquire Juan Pierre
Trade finalized. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/press...sp&c_id=cws

Freddy Garcia vs. Daniel Hudson vs. other options
Freddy will be a solid 5th starter. If he gets 30 starts, I think the Sox can go 15-15, and that's all you really want from that spot. Hudson can probably start the year in Charlotte to get some innings, and then if the bullpen or rotation needs an arm, you can bring him up in May or June.

White Sox sign Bynum & Bohn...
Two more NRI's: Greg Aquino, RHP http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/a/aquingr01.shtml Erick Threets, LHP http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/t/threeer01.shtml Threets had a decent AAA season in Albuquerque.

Projected Sox Batting Order
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 17, 2009 -> 12:47 PM) That 2nd version looks impressive. That's why they need to get another bat. Even if it isn't Gonzalez, they need to get another run producer. Jones and Kotsay aren't going to cut it. I think Kenny knows this, though.

Projected Sox Batting Order
I don't like Ramirez batting 2nd, especially at the beginning of the season. He's been awful in April/beginning of May so far in his career. He should bat 9th to start the season and then they can adjust based on who's hitting well. It's a lineup that can change a lot based on who is hot.

Projected Sox Batting Order
Pierre Beckham Quentin Konerko Pierzynski Rios Jones/Kotsay Teahen Ramirez I agree with daa84, except I'd replace Thome with someone under 35.

Panic! At the Soxtalk
QUOTE (supernuke @ Dec 16, 2009 -> 09:58 PM) For some reason I get the feeling the KW was set on getting Bradley and Ozzie doesn't want him on the team. The way the Sox are constructed, he'd actually fit in the lineup right now. It's tempting. It would make things interesting, that's for sure.

White Sox sign Bynum & Bohn...
Jason Botts will be a non-roster invitee.

sox close to another deal?
QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Dec 16, 2009 -> 04:22 PM) I wonder why people haven't talked about Flowers possibly being the DH? He could rotate with AJ behind the plate and get a decent amount of ABs in the DH hole. Sounds like a nice transition to me. Just go out and sign a DH next year. . . I really think Flowers will get at least a half year in Charlotte. There are plenty of backup catchers out there right now.

Top Ten Worst Sox of the Decade
QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 16, 2009 -> 02:38 PM) The decade starts at 2001 and ends with 2010, btw. That makes no sense, and I don't want to hear how this goes back to year 1 A.D., or whatever. In baseball, when you talk about decades, it's the 3rd digit of the year. 1970's were 1970-1979. 1980's were 1980-1989, and so on. I would never say my favorite White Sox team of the 1980's was 1990. I mean, come on. Get real.

Paniagua really packed a lot into that third of an inning, didn't he?

Dunn would fit in perfectly. High OBP, high power, Lefty DH that can be thrown out in the field if you have to.

White Sox acquire Juan Pierre
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 11:10 AM) I'll be pretty ticked if one of the guys is Santos. Santos is out of options, so if he doesn't make the team, he'll probably get claimed anyway.

could be something (most likely not)
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 05:10 PM) I have a gut feeling we're gonna end up with Podsednik in LF and Thome in DH That would really suck.
-
could be something (most likely not)
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 04:16 PM) What did he say? Just that he doesn't want him, and that he's good at making outs. My opinion? He's better than Podsednik, but I agree with Bernstein--I'd rather have the cheaper Brett Gardner than take on Pierre's contract.

Let's start a thread for Ian Gac, too.
