Will Beckham win AL ROY?
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 11:17 AM) The one other guy worth bringing up might be Andrus. Played a full year, .267 average, 6 HR, .702 OPS, 85 OPS+, but supposedly very good with the glove. I don't think I'd pick him over Becks, but he's in the top 5. I think Porcello, Beckham, Romero, Andrus is probably a good order of finish. Keep in mind it's two beat writers from each AL city that vote for the top 3. You'll probably see Porcello, Andrus, and Andrew Bailey get a lot of top 3 votes. I really don't think Beckham will be very close at all. You may see some AL Central writers give Beckham a couple second place and third place votes. Maybe a Chicago voter will give him a first, but he won't be close to winning.

Predict now; What Happens on Sunday w/Twins, Tigers?
QUOTE (kev211 @ Oct 4, 2009 -> 08:20 PM) What date did the tigers take over first place? I mean they've been in it all season and its going to be hilarious and great if they lose. May 10. http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/DE...le-scores.shtml

Predict now; What Happens on Sunday w/Twins, Tigers?
QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 4, 2009 -> 02:39 PM) What are the odds that the same team plays a 1 game playoff game in back to back years? That is really amazing. First time it's ever happened. I would also like to see them be the first team to lose Game 163 two years in a row.

Predict now; What Happens on Sunday w/Twins, Tigers?
Danks goes 8 innings. Sox win 6-2. Twins win the division. I hate to say it, but I think that's what's going to happen.

10/3 Sox @ Det 6:05pm CSN
QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Oct 3, 2009 -> 04:41 PM) I hate the Twins, but it would be great to sweep the Tigers right out of the playoffs. Go get 'em Freddy! That's how I look at it, and I'm confident the Yankees will crush the Twins.

Doug Laumann Interview
Laumann was on with Rongey this afternoon. Talked about a few players in the system. Seemed to think Viciedo will compete for a spot on the big league club, but need a half year in the minors next season. Reading between the lines, I think he's done with 3B. I think they're more than happy with Beckham there, and Viciedo is below average anyway. http://www.670thescore.com/topic/play_wind...audioId=4064856 Past the half way point.

Jenks, Floyd, Carrasco done for the year - possibly Buehrle
Cowley fails again. Buehrle will start Game 2 tomorrow.

Buehrle is done. http://twitter.com/cst_sox/status/4477696244

Mets claim Jack Egbert off waivers...
Whisler got dropped from the 40-man too. Outrighted to AAA. The 40-man roster is at 37.

Who should the sox keep for 2010?
Bartolo Colon got released last week. Too many of these players on this list are in the "it depends" category.

My surprise player to be dealt
I don't think Buehrle will get traded. He's still a productive starter and I think his contract would make a new team take 2 yrs/$30 mil. If I had one surprise traded player, I'd go with Alexei Ramirez.

Liked Modern Family. Didn't like Cougar Town.

Sox consider shutting down Floyd and Buehrle
I think Buehrle will get one last start. Floyd is done...probably.

The "Shot" Heard 'Round the World
QUOTE (longshot7 @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 06:00 AM) what inning was that - I have to find it on my tivo! It was at exactly 8pm. 2 hours in.

Sox consider shutting down Floyd and Buehrle
1-4, who cares what order they go in... Buehrle should start opening day for tradition's sake. But after that, it should be 1-2-3-4, and skip the 5th whenever you can. The problem with the Sox is that they don't skip the 5th starter enough. Next year, I want the top four to start at least 33 games.

Sox consider shutting down Floyd and Buehrle
I think it's safe to say we've seen the last of Buehrle and Floyd this year.

Jenks V. Dye
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 18, 2009 -> 12:35 PM) JD has pretty much established himself as a White Sox great. I wouldn't go that far. But yeah, Dye will be remembered as the World Series MVP. When I think "White Sox great", I tend to think those players get their numbers retired. Obviously that won't happen for Dye.

Game Thread: CWS @ SEA, 5:40pm CT
Buehrle is going to get one more start to get to 200 innings. Then he's done. Hudson and Torres will probably get a couple starts. This thing is winding down. Hopefully the Tigers win in the dome this weekend so there isn't too much pressure to play spoiler to help the Twins. I'd rather see the Tigers win the division.

Eric Bedard for 2010?
I never like the idea of three lefties in the rotation. Garcia is an adequate 5th starter and has a good price tag. If he fails, Hudson will be there. So, no, I don't want Bedard.

2010 Schedule released
^ I agree. Bring on the Pirates every year. Overall, I think the schedule next year looks pretty fair.

9/14 Game
http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...81&sid=t581 Minor league season coming to an end for the Sox organization.
-
9/13 Games
Birmingham lost 12-2. Season over. Playoff records: Birmingham 0-3 Winston-Salem 0-3 Kannapolis 0-2 Good times. Great Falls is out too if they lose tonight.
-
9/12 Games
Great Falls loses. If they lose and B'ham loses tomorrow, the Sox organization can get skunked in the playoffs.

We now control our own destiny
This is going to be hilarious if it ends in a 3-way tie at 83-79, and we have to play at the Metrodome. That would be classic.
