QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 6, 2016 -> 10:54 AM) Making trades to improve the team doesn't? You can't do both? Are people actually wanting Robin to stay because: A) He's a good manager B) Manager doesn't matter, so why change in the middle of a season? C) I take the side of management no matter what, so until they make the move, I support their decisions. D) It's mostly unlikely they make a change, so I'll take that side because it's the "winning" side.

Callis said if the Brewers don't take Ray at 5, he thinks he'll fall to the Sox at 10. Sounds good to me. Also said, Ray or Lux at 10, and a college arm at 26.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jun 6, 2016 -> 10:21 AM) I know right. Just be content with a s***ty team, lineup, and manager. Hey at least we're 1 over! Firing him wouldn't fix everything but it'd show everyone that they're serious about winning this year. Let a real manager take over like Renteria. Giving Renteria the interim tag makes the most sense if the Sox have a losing homestand. It's just time. Either that, or just play out the rest of the season with nobody watching, and Ventura will go quietly into the night.

Seriously, this is tired at this point. Enjoy our s***ty organization, everyone!

Just my 2 cents about hiring an MLB manager: --Hiring a guy with no coaching or minor league managerial experience is dangerous for the game. We're losing out on guys that put in the time and develop baseball instincts. If a guy has major league managerial aspirations and didn't play in the big leagues for years, he is at a huge disadvantage in becoming a manager. There are exceptions, but we're seeing a lot of Celebrity Managers these days, it's not good for the game as a whole. --You should hire a guy that fits in with a philosophy that fits in with the type of team you're fielding. --Once you hire a manager that fits in with what you're fielding, a three year contract is pretty standard. If that manager doesn't stand out after three years, you move on to the next one. I'll admit, a lot of managers are interchangeable. You can give them the information, they can play by the book, and do nice interviews before the game and after the game...and they may actually win because the talent is superior. But if the manager doesn't stand out and doesn't win when you're trying to win, that manager should be replaced.

What will we possibly do without the brilliant mind and motivation of a great leader like Robin Ventura? Sign him to a 5-year contract today! Lock that guy up!

QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Jun 5, 2016 -> 07:57 PM) Managers are so ridiculously scapegoated. It doesn't help that there's an endless supply of rubes who think that changing the guy who pencils in the lineup will automatically make the pitchers get hitters out and the hitters hit with runners in scoring position. You have a right to your opinion. I think you're wrong.

QUOTE (captain54 @ Jun 5, 2016 -> 07:55 PM) Keep in mind, the same mopes that hired Ventura, will be responsible for finding his replacement, if and when the time comes That's fine. Maybe they'll hire someone qualified this time.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 5, 2016 -> 07:30 PM) Greg Walker was the big problem when he was here. Not the players, not anything else. He gets fired, and the offense was fixed. Nope. Once again, changing manager would be an attempt at fixing one of the known problems for the White Sox. Not the only problem. So bringing up Greg Walker as some kind of diss makes no sense. Just go to your dozens of games and enjoy your losses.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 5, 2016 -> 07:25 PM) It really hasn't. no manager would have won games with the 2013-2015 White Sox. But keep kidding yourselves, Keep being an apologist for a team that hasn't made the playoffs for seven seasons going on eight.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 5, 2016 -> 07:12 PM) Firing Robin fixes everything. No, it's an attempt at fixing one thing we know is wrong and has been wrong for years.

Indians complete the four game sweep of the Royals. Cle 31-24 -- KC 30-26 1.5 Sox 29-28 3.0 Det 28-28 3.5

Honest answer...I don't care as long as they hire somebody with major league coaching staff or minor league managerial experience. Somebody that fits into a vision for the team they are fielding...ya know, somebody with a plan. And if/when this person proves they suck too, they fire them after three years.

Ventura stays. Cabrera back Tuesday. Jackson goes on the DL Tuesday, and Coats stays up. Anderson stays in Charlotte. Purke goes down when Shields is added. Nothing exciting, I know.
-
at home 4-5 gets him fired 5-4 gets him the road trip, where they have to go at least 3-4 6-3 gives him until the break, unless the Twins sweep them too

I watched the MLB Network preview this morning. Is it me, or does this draft look extremely thin?
-
Sox come home on June 5th with 29 wins. 13-12 at home, 16-16 on the road. Not the way anyone thought they'd get there though.

QUOTE (soxfan85 @ Jun 5, 2016 -> 03:28 PM) WHAT?!?! We are going to get completely shut down by the Nationals. Fully expect a 3-6 or 4-5 home stand. 4-5 actually sounds good right now...but that's terrible.
-
And this road trip is ovah.
-
Brett Lawrie - I get why teams get rid of him. I get why teams take a chance on him.
-
QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jun 5, 2016 -> 03:18 PM) Beckham was pretty damn good his first year. True, he did start 2-28 though.
-
It sucks that this has happened. The Sox got good crowds against the Royals. There are fans out there that were ready for a good summer of baseball and contending all season. Now, it seems that will go up in flames unless they get hot at home this week. These are must win series...all of them.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 5, 2016 -> 03:14 PM) Dude has what - 5 at bats? I know. Just late on fastballs and looking overmatched. I know....sample size.

4-5 at home would bring the Sox to 33-33. A nice symmetry of starting 23-10, then going 10-23. That should send somebody home.
