That Katz thing is just a mistake. There are 37 players on the 40-man. 12 of them have been optioned down--Beck, Brennan, Carroll, Johnson, Kahnle, Webb, Ynoa, Smith, Davidson, L Garcia, C Sanchez, Fields. So 25 of the 40-man are technically "Active", plus the four NRIs- Aumont, H Sanchez, Ishikawa, and May.

Opening Day should be 15 day games. 5 at noon, 5 at 1, 5 at 3. And it should be the day Presidents Day is observed.

Feel a little sorry for Saladino not being the starter, as well as Sanchez and Davidson...but it's nice to have some organizational depth in case of injury. Hope they all make the most of their opportunities.

It's really tough to judge anything in Arizona, so I generally think spring training competition is a bad concept. That said, if Latos isn't physically ready, I hope they DL him.
