  1. here's that Bowden clip. https://soundcloud.com/mlbnetworkradio/form...roche-situation
  2. This whole scene is just further proof the Sox are a bad organization now, and have been for a long time. There's a lack of leadership, expectations, and communication. It starts at the very top.
  3. This too shall pass, but tomorrow is going to be interesting as hell.
  4. Excellent interview with Scot Gregor on the Score on the insides of the clubhouse. I suggest you seek that out on podcast.
  5. We need to hear more tomorrow. Kinda spinning wheels. Also, Danks is starting tomorrow, so there's that to get pissed about too.
  6. I'd like Don Cooper to do 5 minutes on this topic...
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 03:17 PM) I see a pretty easy path to return, especially with ST almost over. There's a way for him and KW to come out of this looking like they came to an agreement, and the players would take him back. Possible, but not likely. LaRoche probably has other reasons to quit, and without full access for the kid, he's not coming back. File the papers.
  8. Ok, I'm all the way on management's side on this. Forget LaRoche, and get over it, Sale and Eaton, and the rest of the s***-kickers.
  9. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:58 PM) #FamilyFirst Ha! I should have thought of that. E1, or is it E3?
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:57 PM) Surprised Hahn declined to comment today It's possible with the off day, he's back home having some family time.
  11. Tomorrow pre and post should be fun. yeesh.
  12. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:29 PM) I actually think this might help the team on the field. It's not like a situation where Sale has to pass the ball to Jimmy Rollins. Baseball is an individual based team sport, if that makes sense. Sale can f***ing hate Rollins but it doesn't matter really on the field. It's not like Rollins isn't going to hustle for a ball in the hole because Sale is pitching. That's where starting hot is important. If this team plays the first month at 11-16, they'll self-destruct before June. This is where having a good manager would help, but they don't have one.
  13. They play the Cubs at Camelback tomorrow. It should be a very lively clubhouse...err ballpark.
  14. Bernstein is saying Vince Fresso was fired because a player wanted him gone? Wow, what the hell is going on there?
  15. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 12:37 PM) I think it has a lot to do with all the new veteran faces, many of them well established in the big leagues, that put their foot down. LaRoche was no longer the big swinging dick "leader" he was in 2015 and the other vets were just like "wtf is this ish". I can see where guys like Eaton and Abreu, who were supposed to the clubhouse leaders last year, acquiescing to LaRoche because it's in their nature. But Jimmy Rollins and Alex Avila and Frazier? Hell no, those guys have enough cache to go to management and put their foot down. Good post. Well said. I can see them rolling their eyes at this guy for spring training, but the regular season? On the planes? In the hotels? There all the time? No effing way.
  16. The more I think about this, the more I think this has to do little to nothing about the rest of spring training, and more about the upcoming season and a change of rules. In that case, I have no sympathy for LaRoche.
  17. I keep going back to original rules and expectations. When it comes to a teenager being around the team, the rules should have been layed out before he signed, including the understanding that it could have changed going into the second season. The Sox are right to limit access, I just question the timing, that's all. Hopefully we'll get more details tomorrow so we can have more informed opinions.
  18. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 09:58 AM) All I know is we'll never have to watch Adam LaRoche try and hit left-handed pitching and/or hit into a shift in a White Sox uniform EVER again. I'll be happy if they get past this weekend without him coming back.
  19. To the people tweeting and re-tweeting anything with #Familyovereverything or #Familyfirst, that's code for "I'm an idiot looking for attention of how classy I am".
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 08:54 AM) Why is it so unreasonable to think they tried it, weren't sure about it, and then got more complaints about it this year, so they decided to fix it. This stuff happens in the real world every day. A baseball clubhouse/lifestyle isn't the real world. It just isn't. And if they decided to fix it, it should have been in November or December when they started talking about spring training and how it would be run.
  21. Can we all agree that players today aren't men? They're fun junky frat boys that want no rules.
  22. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 08:26 AM) Why do you keep arguing this. There is no need of any players kid to be around the team all the time. Plan and simple. Which is why Drake shouldn't have had his own locker and unlimited access---last year.
  23. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 07:39 AM) Why is implementing a policy change mid-spring wrong in the first place? LaRoche has clearly been abusing the "kid friendly clubhouse" policy more significantly this camp and the Sox have finally placed a focus this spring on preparation and readiness for the regular season. Also, with the amount of personnel change this offseason, there is no doubt some people complained about constantly having a kid in the clubhouse. The right choice was to end this ridiculousness immedietely. The Sox did absolutely nothing wrong here. That bolded part--we don't know that one way or the other. If the Sox perceived a problem from the 2015 spring training, then this should have been dealt with in the offseason. And if it's a "new player" problem, then a compromise could have been to get through the last two weeks and then establish a new regular season policy---and maybe that's what was offered, but he didn't want that. Anyway--the Sox blew it last year, and LaRoche is a dead-eyed hillbilly. Have a nice day everybody.
  24. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 07:26 AM) Players on the team complained about Drake being there 24/7. They'll never say that though. That's where Robin needs to take the new players that may have objected, and say something like, "Look, yeah we blew it last year saying he could bring Drake, but we didn't think it would be all day, everyday. Just get through the next couple weeks, and we'll tighten up the rules for the regular season and for future spring trainings." Now if the kid was a clown, then yeah, immediately boot him. But from all accounts, he was respectful---but just there all of the time. To me it's all about expectations and establishing clear rules beforehand.
