Ya know, I have Ventura fatigue. No more. Sorry.
-
QUOTE (LDF @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 08:04 PM) good point. Not really.
-
Buehrle- 6 innings, 89 pitches. Leading 5-4. Let him keep going.
-
Would it surprise anyone if the Blue Jays just bash their way to a championship fairly easily?
-
Buehrle needs 8.2 innings for 200. 4 shutout innings so far on 58 pitches. edit: of course he's in trouble in the 5th now. I hope he doesn't pitch on Sunday just to get there. He's a starting pitcher that goes on 4 or 5 days rest. If he can't do it being who he is, then let the streak end. Well, now it's 4 runs. Sorry, Burls, it's over. Great run 2001-2014. To be commended in today's game. 78 through 5. Maybe they just let him wear it to get it. Although homefield advantage is on the line, which apparently isn't important to these teams.

All of the factors play into why they should replace Ventura: 1- As far as I know, he had no aspirations to manage before October, 2011. 2- They spit out a division in 2012. 3- They lost 99 games in 2013---and he got an extension. 4- They play sloppy baseball. Like it or not, that is a reflection on the manager. 5- They sucked again in 2014 6- The front office went out and made moves we perceived to be positive. They certainly had expectations themselves to win going into this season. 7- They sucked again in 2015 It doesn't matter if it was his fault or not. When a team sucks like they've sucked, you make a change. It was a joke he got hired in the first place. To keep going back to this group year after year is an insult to the fanbase. There has to be qualified candidates out there that they can bring in, and make a better decision for the team. Then you give that guy a 3-year deal which is pretty standard, and try something new. If that doesn't work, you go to the next guy. That's how it works. 5 years for Robin Ventura after these last three? That's a joke.

Baines quit. I don't feel like starting another thread.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 03:39 PM) That more than likely was one Don Cooper. I just can't see Robin making those decisions. Baseball Head Coaches are useless. What the f*** is baseball head coach?

You knew it was coming, but today is really bothering me as a fan. Same stale franchise.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 01:58 PM) Hopefully this is just the start. Ya gota clean house FO. Entire new coaching staff. Apparently they've moved the chains another 8 months. June 1st next year. Let's see if they improve. What's done is done, and what hasn't been done we have no control over.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 12:53 PM) I'll throw in a name: Julio Vinas --Current AA Birmingham Barons manager (3 years) --Was up with the MLB club in September last year for a bit --Vibe around him in the org has always been positive --He is US-born, but of Latin descent - I believe he speaks Spanish, though I don't see any documentation of that anywhere --Former White Sox prospect from long ago I'd be he's on the short list. That would make sense since he's in-house, and the rest of the staff is only under contract for a year.

Merkin floating the name Raul Ibanez as a possibility.
-
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 12:15 PM) Manny Acta incoming Maybe. He could take over in June when the Sox are 22-31, and be a bridge before they hire Jim Thome.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 12:04 PM) You are the one who told us they had no direct ties. http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2011-10...ouble-a-reading I guess that's a connection, but I was more talking about being best buds and a true friend hiring, as opposed to be being a fringe friend who had minor league managing experience. That's why he was hired in the first place.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 11:56 AM) They do have a connection. They might have had the same agent or something, but they were very familiar with each other when Parent was hired. Familiar in that they're about the same age and in the baseball industry. Man, you can nitpick anything.
-
QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 11:51 AM) Parent was Ventura's hand-picked guy, right? Who fired him? Ventura or KW? If I recall, Ventura didn't have any direct ties to Parent when they were hired. I would guess they identified a language problem on the bench and in the clubhouse, and they need to bring in a bilingual coach.
-
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 11:43 AM) Interesting. I don't see the point with three days to go and an expiring contract. Why not just not renew the contract. Uhhh...because he probably told them to go f themselves and got a plane ticket back to wherever he lives.
-
If Hawk is to be believed, Parent will join Jeff Manto as excellent future managers. Joe McEwing...you're next.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 11:35 AM) They don't care? Why was he asked if he had a pulse? Robin's lack of appearing constantly pissed off and in players faces has been posted thousands of times on this board. That's not even mentioning talk radio, where the Ditka style is the way to coach anything. Of course if these same people were chewed out at their desks for everyone to see, they probably wouldn't call it good leadership. Just stop. You know you're on wrong side of this one.
-
Parent just got fired, by the way.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 11:26 AM) Parent being negative after poor play. Holding players accountable? Now he's not positive enough? Seriously, the giving bad advice to try to steal a job should show you where Lip's head is. It doesn't have to make any sense. If it's White Sox, and if it's negative, he's taking the bait. The thing about Ventura being a yeller...fans don't care about a manager showing emotion on the bench. The media takes this narrative that Robin isn't emotional enough and makes it sound like that's his problem--which it's not. This shouldn't be a tough decision after these three years. I guess with one more year (another bad decision by Sox management), he'll be gone in 2017. Enjoy the shorter lines next year.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 11:21 AM) It is funny, Robin gets ripped for not spending the entire season yelling at players, but now Parent watches these games and is negative. Whiners are gonna whine. That's a bs media narrative that you're trying to attach yourself to. Don't do that.
-
It was wrong to hire him in the first place. It's a bad decision to keep this staff another year. But that's what the White Sox do...they make bad decisions.
