Wil Myers out 2 months with a wrist. Rays season has gone to hell. The David Price rumors should heat up soon.

QUOTE (MAX @ Jun 3, 2014 -> 03:09 PM) I was too, but if I had one thing to communicate, it is that it actually reinforces the idea, wrong or right, that the owners of this franchise are not primarily focused on winning. They are distracted by the most irrelevant details. I cant get behind it at all. I miss chicago blackhawks hockey already. Like a starting pitcher deciding which uniform to wear? I'd eliminate that practice before having rules about appearance. It's like wearing a suit on the plane. Does it matter in winning or losing? Probably not, but it's a rule and you follow it.

QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Jun 3, 2014 -> 03:08 PM) Ya that'll be pretty intense and exciting I hope there is some suspense. Nothing leaked on Twitter, or anything like that. If they pass on Kolek for Nola or somebody, I'll understand it, but it's also potentially a killer in the long run with the Cubs and Twins right behind us. Kolek could also be a bust, but sometimes you have to let the baseball gods take care of it. Take the kid, and hope.

51 hours. Sox are getting Kolek.

I have no problem with "cleaning it up". Robin deserves criticism when it comes to baseball decisions. Reinsdorf doesn't like a bad appearance, so Robin may have enforced Reinsdorf's rule, even if he agreed or disagreed with it.

The 2nd wildcard is only 2 games over .500. Who wants it?

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 2, 2014 -> 11:20 PM) I felt that way for a few games throughout the season and have been surprised how this team comes back.. It is going to be tough with this road trip though. If we can some how come up with at least 3 wins it could be a minor miracle Very true. They've had tough losses to the Tigers and Yankees and they bounced right back. I kinda figured this week was going to be a 2-4 week. I just hope they didn't just turn it into a 1-5.

This game has the potential of being a "beginning of the end" game. I hope it's not.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 2, 2014 -> 04:08 PM) There's a huge difference between a game going 3:30+ and 2:45. But even so, it's boring as hell to watch guys stand around all game and delay the game on purpose. A nice pace of play makes things a lot more interesting. There's no way in hell you're going to get strikes called letter high, or "at the arm pits." You want 1-0 games, you'll have them every game if that's the case. The game has changed, guys are throwing harder. You simply can't hit fastballs up there, it's much harder than hitting a low pitch. Guys are striking out enough right now, and scoring is down. That's not the problem. It's the first 2 things you mentioned. That's fair. I wasn't really meaning up in the pits, but at the belt or a little higher, a lot of times they're called balls.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 2, 2014 -> 04:01 PM) Are you people seriously watching games and looking at your watch wishing it was over 20 minutes sooner? It's not the length of the game. It's the pace. If there happens to be more challenges than usual, fine, it happens. But when a pitcher is taking 30 seconds between pitches with nobody on base, or a hitter is stepping out of the box between pitches with nobody on base, that's got to stop. Because it makes the game really boring.

Pitchers- stay on the mound Hitters- stay in the box Call high strikes.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 2, 2014 -> 01:24 PM) You should also see Walker's Twitter timeline. Dude wears his heart on his sleeve, and he was saying he feels like no one has his back. That won't go over well with the Sox if they see that. I looked at that too after I saw he was demoted. Bad. I'd really like to know if the Sox or any teams highly recommend players stay away from social media. It can really only get them in trouble, especially if they're using it to see what people are saying about them. Gordon Beckham had a pretty good interview where he was hitting on this subject. http://thegamechicago.com/2014/05/31/white.../#axzz33Upp1Mde

There needs to be a name for Buehrle-type pitchers
flavum replied to Texsox's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jun 2, 2014 -> 12:02 PM) Buehrle is scheduled to face the Sox on June 28th. That is 5 starts away. With 196 wins currently, there is a realistic chance that Buehrle could be going for win #200 that day. That would be against Sale if rotations hold. Buehrle facing the Cardinals, at Baltimore, twice against the Yankees in between. -
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 2, 2014 -> 12:18 PM) I want to see Abreu take a bunch of pitches in his first AB, even if it ends in a K. He's never seen a curveball like this one; he's not likely going to be able to swing the rust off so easily. Could mess with his timing. Well, maybe http://mlb.mlb.com/news/boxscore.jsp?gid=2...lanmlb_chamlb_1

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 2, 2014 -> 10:49 AM) We should all expect Kolek, IMO. I agree. Totally expect- Aiken, Rodon, Kolek.
