  1. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 2, 2014 -> 04:08 PM) There's a huge difference between a game going 3:30+ and 2:45. But even so, it's boring as hell to watch guys stand around all game and delay the game on purpose. A nice pace of play makes things a lot more interesting. There's no way in hell you're going to get strikes called letter high, or "at the arm pits." You want 1-0 games, you'll have them every game if that's the case. The game has changed, guys are throwing harder. You simply can't hit fastballs up there, it's much harder than hitting a low pitch. Guys are striking out enough right now, and scoring is down. That's not the problem. It's the first 2 things you mentioned. That's fair. I wasn't really meaning up in the pits, but at the belt or a little higher, a lot of times they're called balls.
  2. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 2, 2014 -> 04:01 PM) Are you people seriously watching games and looking at your watch wishing it was over 20 minutes sooner? It's not the length of the game. It's the pace. If there happens to be more challenges than usual, fine, it happens. But when a pitcher is taking 30 seconds between pitches with nobody on base, or a hitter is stepping out of the box between pitches with nobody on base, that's got to stop. Because it makes the game really boring.
  3. Pitchers- stay on the mound Hitters- stay in the box Call high strikes.

  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 2, 2014 -> 01:24 PM) You should also see Walker's Twitter timeline. Dude wears his heart on his sleeve, and he was saying he feels like no one has his back. That won't go over well with the Sox if they see that. I looked at that too after I saw he was demoted. Bad. I'd really like to know if the Sox or any teams highly recommend players stay away from social media. It can really only get them in trouble, especially if they're using it to see what people are saying about them. Gordon Beckham had a pretty good interview where he was hitting on this subject. http://thegamechicago.com/2014/05/31/white.../#axzz33Upp1Mde

  7. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jun 2, 2014 -> 12:02 PM) Buehrle is scheduled to face the Sox on June 28th. That is 5 starts away. With 196 wins currently, there is a realistic chance that Buehrle could be going for win #200 that day. That would be against Sale if rotations hold. Buehrle facing the Cardinals, at Baltimore, twice against the Yankees in between.
  8. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 2, 2014 -> 12:18 PM) I want to see Abreu take a bunch of pitches in his first AB, even if it ends in a K. He's never seen a curveball like this one; he's not likely going to be able to swing the rust off so easily. Could mess with his timing. Well, maybe http://mlb.mlb.com/news/boxscore.jsp?gid=2...lanmlb_chamlb_1
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 2, 2014 -> 12:22 PM) Jon Heyman ‏@JonHeymanCBS 8m astros 1b prospect jon singleton agrees to $10M 5-year contract with 3 club options. could be worth $35M. @JeffPassan 1st That's a lot of money for weed.
  10. QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Jun 2, 2014 -> 10:52 AM) Is Liddi on the roster still or did they release him? Released a few weeks back.
  11. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 2, 2014 -> 10:49 AM) We should all expect Kolek, IMO. I agree. Totally expect- Aiken, Rodon, Kolek.
  12. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jun 2, 2014 -> 09:39 AM) My hope for the Sox draft: 1.3 Aiken - Hopefully the Astros find an underslot deal that they like better than Aiken and the Marlins grab the Miami native Rodon 2.44 Luke Weaver - Was once projected as a top 15 guy, his stock is down as he has been inconsistent over the last month, but would give the Sox a higher floor guy that could move quickly to compensate for developing the HS pitcher taken first 3.77 Jeren Kendall - Contact hitter, plus plus speed, great range in CF - Lance Johnson type table setter They did a draft prospect special last night on MLB, and Weaver seems to be quite the character. Funny dude. Maybe I missed it, but I don't remember Trea Turner being on the top 50 list. Anyone know if his stock has fallen that much?
  13. Revenge for this game that Robin pulled him... http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/LA...201206170.shtml (surprised Lillibridge was still on the Sox two years ago-seems longer. He was traded a week after this game) BTW, when the Dodgers start Kershaw, Haren, and Beckett, the team is 13-14 this season. No excuses getting swept in this series.
  14. E Johnson. WTF.
  15. Angels and Yankees lose. Angels with the first wildcard on pace for 86-87 wins. Big series next weekend. http://espn.go.com/mlb/standings/_/type/wild-card/group/5 Tigers 4-10 last 14, but I think they'll bounce back. But baseball happens.
  16. RIP Ann B. Davis
  17. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 1, 2014 -> 03:26 PM) Also, it would be really cool if the AL All-star game starter came down to Sale or Buehrle. Although I could see Phil Hughes sneaking in there since he's the home pitcher. Sale missed too much time. He'll still make the team if he makes 6 more starts, but Buehrle and Tanaka are ahead right now. Hughes, Keuchel, Kluber, Gray, Darvish, Felix, Weaver, and Sale will be on roster I would think about 6 weeks away.
  18. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 1, 2014 -> 04:04 PM) http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/06/...is-weeks-draft/ I thought draft picks could not be traded? In the last CBA they negotiated that these Competitive Balance Picks are eligible to be traded. I think there were a couple trades like this last year.
  19. He threw 8 shutout innings today for his 10th win. He probably has 20 or 21 starts left. In this season of the power pitchers going under the knife, Buehrle's season is a great contrast. Just shows what pitching is all about---changing speeds and locating. Not all about the radar gun.
  20. Twins helped us out beating the Yankees too. Life without Mo.
  21. 20-34 and their run diff. is only -18. Weird.
  22. Good. Get him at bats down there. I was really thinking he was going to stay.
  23. Hope Montas is part the future. That trade can turn out great for the Sox.
  24. AL Pitcher of the Month for June 1 down. 5 to go.
