  1. This one's for Caulfield... Simple math, really. 100 games left. 50 home. 50 road. Need 87 wins for the second wildcard--that's my assumption right now, although the Mariners and Yankees are tied, on pace for 84 wins. Here's what the Sox have left: 16 - Twins 10-6 (10 games at Target Field) 13 - Tigers 6-7 13 - Royals 7-6 (10 games at The Cell) 9 - Indians 5-4 7 - Blue Jays 4-3 7 - Mariners 4-3 6 - Orioles 3-3 5 - Angels 3-2 4 - Red Sox 2-2 4 - A's 2-2 4 - Giants 2-2 3 - Yankees 2-1 3 - Rays 2-1 3 - Astros 2-1 3 - Rangers 2-1 56-44, to finish 87-75. Another way to look at it-- If they can squeeze 21 more starts out of Chris Sale, and the team goes 16-5 in those starts, they have to go 40-39 whenever somebody else pitches. The keys- Chris Sale's starts must be "Win Day" Beat up the Twins Stay away from sweeps
  2. It's going to be interesting to see what Beck ends up being. 4th or 5th starter? Long reliever? Not good enough?
  3. Rienzo is clearly the 5th starter and he's going to suck probably 3 out of 10 starts. If it's going to come against Weaver, that's ok. Get 'em next time. Sale tomorrow.
  4. Is there any doubt Aybar is getting a rbi here?
  5. This would be a huge win tonight, considering the matchup and the wildcard situation. Orioles and Mariners losing tonight was good.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 10:18 PM) Some of these averages are free falling. It's a shame Viciedo is still plagued by his streakiness. To me, it's hard to find a spot for him on next years team. Agreed. I'm hoping for Beckham and Viciedo to play just well enough to get in the postseason, but also to be traded in November-December.
  7. Need a big hit here.
  8. Hawkins can start hitting ropes all over the field any day now. .238
  9. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 08:28 PM) This too. Yeah, that's true.
  10. Love the first two picks, obviously. If they get a bullpen arm or two, or a bench player from 3-10, that's a bonus. If Rodon is an All Star and a top-5 Cy guy, and Adams is in a future Sox rotation, it's a great draft.
  11. Looking like a wasted year for Erik Johnson. Bizarre how this is going for him.
  12. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 07:17 PM) Trout back in lineup. He had a double and triple last night.
  13. Lineups https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/4750446...0434944/photo/1 Not expecting much tonight. Hopefully Sale does his thing, and Quintana wins the rubber match. Tonight would be a gravy win.
  14. Ziznewski/Michalczewski would make a hell of a left side.
  15. 7th round http://www.gocreighton.com/ViewArticle.dbm...TCLID=205335742
  16. Rodon and Adams sign 6 weeks from today or sooner? What say you?

  18. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 02:15 PM) Five picks away from Sox 6RD pick. 2:30
  19. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,6873059.story I'm tired of baseball players saying "it's a game of failure". Negative and cliche. Just play, and shut up.
  20. Hawk is making all of the Sox picks from Round 10-20. He's all over it. All pitchers with TWTW.
  21. Callis said Thompson has #3 upside if he gets his slider worked out. Possible minor league starter, and then move to the pen.
  22. Another top 10 pick who won't be able to wear his college number. Ted Lyons is who?
  23. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 01:21 PM) Well this isn't an encouraging quote from Rodon..... "Q. Going to get a deal done with Sox? Your sense and feeling. A. I'm not really sure. That's later down the road. In a month or so we'll figure that out but I'm still trying to enjoy this moment, spend time with my family and enjoy the whole thing and let it sink in." Boras client. He's been coached. We're probably looking at a late signing. No major league time this year. A September callup next year. Rotation 2016-2020, and then traded in his last year, unless the Sox are in it. But that's just a guess considering his agent.
