Thanks, Cubs for beating Tanaka. First loss in about 21 months. Wildcard standings. http://espn.go.com/mlb/standings/_/type/wild-card/group/5 Long season. Hope Sale and Abreu come back and this team stays healthy (somehow).

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 20, 2014 -> 10:32 PM) I'll take back to back 7-6 V's. Tough match. Straight sets tomorrow.

It's never easy

Beckham .362 his last 14 games.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 20, 2014 -> 09:22 PM) When are people going to admit Beckham is looking good. He's been good. Defense shaky once in a while, but he's hitting. Still don't like him for 2015.

Rienzo--pleasant surprise.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 20, 2014 -> 08:47 PM) If it's Aiken, I think he can talk about how he has 4 pitches and doesn't rely on his fastball. If it's Kolek, then it basically goes against everything he said. It would be funny if Rodon and Aiken were off the board, and they passed on Kolek for Alex Jackson. Probably won't happen, but it's not necessarily the wrong move in the long run.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ May 20, 2014 -> 08:39 PM) Because he obviously has no idea there is a very very large chance that he will have to be talking up said high draft choice HS pitcher in about 2 1/2 weeks. I wonder if he will lie to everyone and be excited about the pick, or disapprove of the choice or just say "Rick Hahn knows what he is doing" At the very least, Hawk needs to say something like, "It's a risky pick, and not something I would do, but our guys (Hahn/Laumann, etc) love this kid and think he's going to be a good one." Something like that. He can't go all apes*** excited about a 17-year-old pitcher.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 20, 2014 -> 08:12 PM) Hawk just said a high school pitcher is the worst draft choice in baseball.....UGH If the Sox draft Aiken or Kolek, I want Hawk to say he hates the pick on June 6th. I have no problem with that opinion, but at least be consistent.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 20, 2014 -> 12:26 PM) How did you even FIND that? I just have "white sox" on twitter search bookmarked, and I happened to see it at the right time.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 20, 2014 -> 12:09 PM) I don't see anything on Twitter yet. https://twitter.com/Ben_Baby/status/468787773365702658 Looks like the original tweet was a hs friend. Denton, TX.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 20, 2014 -> 12:08 PM) I agree, but also agree that you don't look to trade him, like they did with Peavy last year. That was a case of basically telling the league "we ARE trading this guy," whereas with Alexei they are saying "we CAN trade this guy." Right. It's just the same plan as Hahn has set...the Sox have to get young players that will be here for the long run. It's not a trade for a sake of a trade. That's why I'm skeptical that they'll trade anyone.
-
If the Sox are out of it in late July, and they get offered something for Alexei that makes sense, absolutely you trade him.
-
Javy Guerra called up.
-
There's a lot of guys that could get traded, but I'll believe it when I see it-- Beckham, Ramirez, De Aza, Lindstrom, Dunn. We'll see what the record is at the break. Quite frankly, the next two weeks could be rough without Abreu.

QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ May 18, 2014 -> 07:40 PM) The 'is-post-injury-danks good' debate is an interesting one because the answer is unquestionably no, yet the battle rages on When you look at Danks' career stats, he has all the ear-markings of somebody who will be out of baseball at 32. A few good years, a couple mediocre, surgery, rehab, comeback not as good, can't find Plan B to get outs, gone.

The Sox have played nine 3-game series this season. They went 2-1 in the opening series of the season. They have gone 1-2 in the other eight. Luckily winning 3 out of 4 a few times has helped their overall record.

QUOTE (TomPickle @ May 18, 2014 -> 02:04 PM) Glad to see Danish struggle a bit. I think he'll develop a lot more adjusting to A+ than dominating in A. Completely agree. This is a good thing.

Nieto 3-3. That's good. Glad I missed this one. Top 7 pick 2015, here we come.

Lineups: https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/4680513...8846720/photo/1 Ventura finally giving Abreu a day off...oh wait...
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 18, 2014 -> 10:14 AM) Honestly, I don't care if they lose every game the next two weeks as long as Abreu's ankle substantially improves. Sox can't afford to have another big piece of the future out for a significant period of time. If it's a choice: 2 weeks and lose or 2 months and tread water around .500.... I'll take 2 weeks and lose too. Just sucks he's missing these two weeks...10 home games--gone.
-
Bad timing in the schedule to lose that bat--KC, NY, and Cleveland. Really need wins the next couple weeks. Hope this is 15 days and doesn't linger the rest of the year.

Buehrle had to get one more out to get a win. Didn't happen, but another quality start and the Jays won. Oh, and this happened in the stands... http://kennedymlb.blogspot.ca/2014/05/texas.html
