  1. Robin is hinting at Noesi starting on Wednesday if they don't need him before then.
  2. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 02:06 PM) I don't think that being in contention will make the Sox buyers, but it may make them non-sellers. I agree. The bullpen might be a revolving door all year, but the Sox won't "go for it" by trading a Davidson or Micah Johnson, or something along those lines. The Tigers are going to win 90+, and I don't see the Sox getting there. But there is a lot of parity in the league, and it's not out of the question that the second wildcard gets in with 87 or 88 wins. You don't mortgage the future for a one-game playoff, but if the Sox get healthy and the bullpen in order, they have a decent shot of hanging in there.
  3. QUOTE (Dunt @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 02:34 PM) When can we plan on hearing if this game is going to happen by? They'll try all night since teams out of the division only come to town once a year. Very little chance they'll call it before people start driving to the game.
  4. https://twitter.com/ckamka/status/460834328453586944 I was at that game.
  5. Dunn picked up the check for Carroll's family and friend's dinner celebration last night. Cool move.
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 11:49 AM) THIS IS SO MINIMALIST I'm a minimalist.
  7. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 10:59 AM) Just by looking at the numbers, who else even comes close to Abreu now? Just Pujols and Colabello, and Abreu has better numbers. I'd vote for Abreu now, but I'm a Sox fan. WAR isn't my thing, but Abreu is 10th right now for just offense. I'll look on June 1st.
  8. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 10:50 AM) It's early, but right now, Jose Abreu is AL MVP. No doubt. Early for that, but if Abreu ends up 50/150, probably have to screw Trout for the third year in a row.
  9. Just for accuracy sake, Pujols had 101 PA's then. Abreu has 115 PA's now, with three games left. It would probably be a better stat if it was most Total Bases in a player's first 100 plate appearances, or something like that.
  10. Can we start talking about how we do or do not want him to participate in the Home Run Contest? BTW, Target Field is a crappy venue for that stupid contest.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 08:57 AM) What are the odds tonight's game is cancelled? At least 50/50? Zero. It may get postponed, but it won't get canceled. May 29th would be the make up.
  12. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 08:43 AM) Axe not yet scratched from tonight's game for Charlotte. Could Hanson be ready for Weds.? I really don't think Hanson is stretched out yet. He probably needs one or two more starts in AAA. Plus the 40-man is full. I'd put money on Putnam starting Wednesday right now, and see if they can get 3-4 innings out of him.
  13. Axelrod is scheduled to start for Charlotte tomorrow, so if he doesn't then we know what's up. With 8 in the pen right now, they could probably get by with Putnam starting and hope for the best.
  14. DeMichele went 5-5, 2 2B, Hr, BB, 2 SB including stealing home Have a day.
  15. 3 walks for Hawkins, plus the homer, and the almost homer to dead center.
  16. 4 hits for Demichele. Hawkins just missed another homer.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 05:05 PM) Doug Padilla ‏@ESPNChiSox 9m Asked Ventura about his 33 RBI month for the Sox in the wake of Abreu's 31 in April: "Yeah, he's not playing for the next 5 days." That's classic Ventura.
  18. https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/4605336...3682048/photo/1 Hi, Jen Lada.
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 04:35 PM) Please not axe. Please If they don't have to use the pen too much tomorrow, maybe they can get away with a bullpen day of: Putnam 3-4 innings Cleto 2 innings Noesi 2 innings
  20. HAWKINS! 1-1, HR, 2 BB Leads the minors with 27 RBIs.
  21. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 04:29 PM) Why wouldn't Carroll get another shot? We're talking about Wednesday, when somebody needs to pitch in Johnson's old spot.
  22. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 04:24 PM) Do we know it's Axe, by elimination? That's my guess. I don't see how it can be anyone else. Hanson probably needs more time, and Surkamp just pitched yesterday.
  23. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 04:19 PM) Who's starting Wednesday? Who's the next SCOTT CARROLL? Axelrod vs Scherzer? Can't win them all.
  24. QUOTE (Hawkfan @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 04:09 PM) Alright!!!!! This season could be interesting! Damn right. If they win tomorrow, the Sox hit the 1/6 mark at 14-13. And that's with Sale missing two starts and a terrible bullpen. If they get healthy, and the pen settled a bit, their best baseball may be ahead of them.
