  1. Live stream of Thomas press conference. http://www.csnchicago.com/page/livewhitesox
  2. Mike Rizzo filled out that scouting report. Looking at that draft, falling to 7th....unbelievable. We hit the jackpot.
  3. Percentage changes: Biggio +6.6 Piazza +4.4 Everyone else went backwards. Lee Smith, Edgar Martinez, Larry Walker, and Fred McGriff had huge reversals. Hopefully these guys will at least make the rule change about unlimited voting a reality.
  4. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 8, 2014 -> 01:59 PM) LOL "Steroids weren't illegal!" ORLY? Wonder if the DEA would agree with that. I don't know about everyone else, but I'm glad the Sox didn't have a guy like Sosa putting up numbers like that during that time (98-03). I mean, yes, Albert Belle was juiced out of his mind, but he wasn't "our" guy. Sosa became a Cubs guy. It would make me puke if a Sox fan was making a case for a juiced player who only had Hall numbers with steroids.
  5. Here are the full results, if they haven't been posted: http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article//greg-madd...ent_id=66395522
  6. I'm not going to link some of his tweets, but holy s***, Wayne Randazzo is a f***ing idiot.
  7. Epic fail on Whitesox.com not having Frank there already.
  8. Frank being the sideshow to Maddux, Glavine, and Cox (plus Torre and LaRussa) is so White Sox. Hey, he's in. He's in forever. Enjoy it.
  9. Palmeiro fell off the ballot. Larry Walker got fewer votes than Mark McGwire, which surprises me.
  10. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 8, 2014 -> 01:13 PM) I concur, really is cool to think...I remember him being drafted and playing in County Stadium to make his debut. Wonder who inducts him...... Thomas ana LaRussa bring back some odd emotions in regard to the White Sox recent history. They don't do that at the Baseball Hall of Fame. They play a video and people talk, but nobody is there in person to introduce him. Selig reads the plaques, and Frank gives a speech.
  11. Of course the BBWAA site is crashed. Why wouldn't it be?
  12. It's cool to have witnessed a Sox player from Draft Day to Hall of Fame announcement. Congratulations, Frank Thomas!
  13. Next year... Randy Johnson John Smoltz Pedro Martinez Craig Biggio Book it.
  14. QUOTE (Sonik22 @ Jan 8, 2014 -> 12:26 PM) I'm so nervous. I know it's looking good but it's the older voters I worry about. C'mon, do something right. I hope the only questions are: Will Biggio sneak in? Will Palmeiro and Sosa fall off the ballot?
  15. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jan 8, 2014 -> 11:57 AM) How long before the 2pm announcement do they start calling the players? I don't know, but that's why I looked up Frank's son's Twitter to see if he gives up anything. He may be getting the call right about now.
  16. Basically, Frank needs to be on 2 out of 3 of the unknown ballots. Until Jeff Idelson says the Hall welcomes 3 new players (or 4), I'm not 100% confident.
  17. Sterling Thomas rooting for his dad... https://twitter.com/SterlingT35/status/420944422725906432
  18. 174 out of 194 Frank would need 67.5% of the remaining 375 ballots. 253 out of 375. He's got to get in, right?
  19. Frank is at 154-170. 90.6% The percentages are coming down, but I think Frank is safe. Biggio at 78.8%. Sosa and Palmeiro falling off the ballot is a strong possibility. Larry Walker is way down there too. Even though I wouldn't vote for him, I hope he doesn't fall off the ballot.
  20. I agree with Schoenfield there on Lee Smith. Closers have to blow it out of the water to get in the Hall. Truthfully, after Rivera gets in, they should close it off for the under 80 innings pitchers. I don't even want Trevor Hoffman in even though he will.
  21. When you have 550-600 people making a decision like this, there are always going to be a handful of nut jobs. Focus on the positive of who gets in.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 7, 2014 -> 10:47 AM) For me it really seemed to happen with the 1987 rookie race. What happened that year blew away everything that had happened before it in all MLB history. I can agree with that. Wally Joyner admitted to some stuff later on in his career. But I think it really went crazy in the second half of the 90's. edit: Wally Joyner was before 87. The 86 race was Joyner and Canseco, so maybe that was the year you meant.
