Ventura to get extended
QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Jan 24, 2014 -> 12:04 PM) I mostly just think the manager isn't super-important so I guess I feel very 'meh' about it. It's getting to the point where managers are viewed almost as interchangeable as hitting coaches. Former decent players that can string a sentence together for the media will go far.

Ventura to get extended
I don't need to know how much money they're paying him, but can't they at least say how many years this goes?

2014 Draft class
Projecting a high school pitcher being in the rotation with John Danks? Yeah, no.

Frank Thomas Is a Hall of Famer
Maddux is going in without a logo, as is Tony La Russa. So basically the Cubs and Braves can both claim Maddux as their own Hall of Famer.

Hahn's next move?

Hahn's next move?
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 10:09 AM) Honestly, I think it will ultimately be less than that. Could be, but it's better just to assume it's going all the way. Best case scenario, he puts the 44 on his back, and he has a great season for a surprise playoff Sox team. Next best, maybe an NL team wants him for the stretch run and possible World Series DH.

Rosenthal: Tanaka to Yankees
We're all going to be laughing when Felipe Paulino has a better season.

Rosenthal: Tanaka to Yankees
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 09:30 AM) 7/155 with a player opt-out, plus another 20M to Japan? LOL, have fun with that NYY. You can have him. Yep. Just not in the Sox ballpark, and that's fine. If the comp is Dan Haren in his prime, then the Yankees are getting a good pitcher, but not worth that money.

Hahn's next move?
Something has to give with De Aza/Viciedo, and it would appear Viciedo is staying. Same thing with Gillaspie/Keppinger. I think Keppinger will get dealt in spring training. And as far as catcher, Hahn is sticking to the plan. Olivo or Buck just didn't fit his plan. It's either upgrade with a young catcher, or they may go Flowers and gamble with Nieto as a backup.

If it's down to the Cubs and Yankees, I hope he signs with the Cubs. Stay out of the league. Go to a bad team.- Rosenthal: Tanaka to Yankees
79 hours, he'll have a team.- Rosenthal: Tanaka to Yankees
Hopefully Hahn on CSN tonight will be an interesting interview. If he cancels, that might be a good sign for the Sox.- Rosenthal: Tanaka to Yankees
Kaplan? Levine? We're close enough to Friday at 4pm to just wait until there's a decision. We don't need rumors anymore.- Old Sox Games on Youtube
The final night game at Comiskey is up in its entirety, with some bonus stuff at the end on the closing of the park. Also you can see what 23 years has done to Peter Gammons. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-EhrnkuI28- Sox re-sign Gordo and De Aza 1 year each

Now for a next move, they can probably announce non-roster invitees soon. If they don't announce them by next week, it would probably indicate they're trying to make some major league roster moves (like moving De Aza/Keppinger/Gillaspie-one or two of them), before setting the spring training roster.- Sox re-sign Gordo and De Aza 1 year each
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jan 17, 2014 -> 12:39 PM) I include Abreu's entire signing bonus in 2014 payroll since that is when he actually gets the money. I have 15 players signed for $88.075 million. 8 more player at or near rookie salaries puts it at about $94 million. Yeah, I was looking at B-R and I completely forgot about Abreu. Mid-90's seems right.- Sox re-sign Gordo and De Aza 1 year each
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 17, 2014 -> 12:37 PM) The B-R counter would put them at $86 not counting Abreu's signing bonus. Oh yeah, that guy. - Non-Roster Invites
