  1. Maybe kw should quit while he is ahead, and by that I mean quit his job. Come on Kenny go out on a high note.
  2. Well it looks like kw did a good job weather he did it himself or if cashman did it for him. I am still not willing to call him a great GM just yet though, unless he keeps this up all that was proven was that the sun will even shine on a dogs ass some of the time.
  3. I hope it will be everything you dreamed of and more.
  4. Well I guess that is the only viable option. I really hope what you heard is true and we will all be happier people by the start of the season.
  5. maybe kw can trade himself to the yankees as part of the three way
  6. If you answer your own questions like this what are the rest of us supposed to do.
  7. Please tell me that you're not just toying with my emotions.
  8. You're giving kw too much credit he might be able to get us Hitchcock.
  9. This is all I have heard so far: New York is still in discussions with Montreal about acquiring Bartolo Colon from the Expos, but Hernandez and/or Hitchcock probably would go to the Expos as part of a trade. The Yankees spent Tuesday exploring three-way trades with Montreal, with some proposals involving Florida and some the Chicago White Sox. While the talks were ongoing, nothing was close, and in some combinations New York would pass Colon on to the third team in the deal.
  10. It probably just means that they didn't want to go to arbitration with him.

Baseball, sex and comedy it just doesn't get any better than that.
  12. This, of course, would be assuming the White Sox Organization had an owner that was committed to winning and a GM worthy of the title. Since the Sox have neither, the above scenario is wishful thinking. Sure throw reality in my face!
  13. My memory isn't the best but I think I recall that they added a DH section to the ballot when the game is in the AL. I think it was done for the first time in 2001.
  14. I have heard other people state that since JR is part of the comittee in charge of the sale of the Expos that it could be a conflict of interests if the Sox were to aquire one of the big names from Montreal. Now I admit this might be just a half baked theory, but is it possible that the Sox are having talks with the Expos and keeping them quiet so it would appear that the Expos other options were dried up thus minimizing the possible accusation of a conflict of interests.
  15. If he ends up being a bad guy in the clubhouse: Colon cancer in Chicago
  16. Not sure about that - as the Michigan resident who watches so many Tigers games only because I get so few Sox games on tv - I don't know. He is not bad pitcher. He equaled Ritchie in losses, but then his offensive backup was the Tohets so maybe he would have done more for us. This one is a real question. I missed that the Tigs were shopping him. Marlin paid two minor leaguers. Wonder what we might have been asked for in exchange, and would it have been more. But I am puzzled that the Tigers traded away Redman to begin with. I think all of the other GM's in the game have learned to ask for more when they talk to kw, because he is notorious for over paying.
  17. Buehrle is bound to the Sox through the 2006 season unless he is traded.
  18. I still doubt they will cut 10 mil and lose Colon, since the team needs a few name players for the presumption that they will be competitve for the new buyer. I know they weretold to cut the 10 mil, but nothingis consisent from Selig's office. Just a hunch. I could be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time. With his upcoming free agency I don't know how much value would be placed on Colon by a prospective owner.
  19. The 1 player from every team rule is one that I cannot envision ever being scrapped simply because every team has a stake in it. And that is one reason why I don't like awarding home field advantage to the league that wins the All Star Game. Another reason is the DH. Is the DH used in all All Star games or only those played in AL parks? If the latter, than the AL would be at a disadvantage every other year in the All Star Game. And home field is too important in the World Series to be at a disadvantage that often. The awarding of home field to the team with the best record does not excote me much. It works in the NHL and NBA, but that is one leage with conferances. In MLB we have two separate leagues, each with their long history of over 100 years each, and the rotation of the World Series between leagues is one of the things that results from the leagues separate existences. Changing the way that home field advantage is decided will cause further the dissolution of any difference between the leagues. And I am a proud AL fan and don't want things blurred with the NL. I never thought about the problems that could occur with this idea when it comes to the DH advantage. The NL would have a big advantage every second year in the NL parks and in the AL parks they get to plug any superstar they want into the DH slot Whick could work as an advantage to them since they would have a stronger line up than usual for the NL.
  20. Probably true but all this trade talk is fun, so what the hell.
  21. Lets just hope they didn't get Redman to use him as part of a trade with the Expos
  22. Thanks for the book tip, I will check it out! YASNY - I would love to read what Holtzman wrote, thanks for posting about, any idea where to find it? No problem. I was against Joe going to the hall of fame myself until I read it.
  23. If this happens and their value drops a lot I think alot of other teams will jump into the race to get these guys.
  24. even tho you are saying that mark is a proven commodity, jon and wright are not and you are having hopes for rauch. now you are talking about colon who is a proven commodity as well as vazquez. i can't see how you can't make the move for that. I don't think the Expos would trade both pitches in the same deal as they would likely get a better return in two separate deals. While Colon has been successful he will be a free agent after the season and if he has a good season he will get alot of attention from other teams and would likely leave. If we had to give up Garland or Wright in the deal we will be in an even worse position for 2004. Vazquez likely wouldn't cost us as much in a deal and would be here for two years I believe. Colon is also overweight and out of shape, so I would be concerned about giving him a long term deal even if we could sign him.
  25. Although I would still like to see Vazquez in a Sox uniform I have high hopes for our current rotation. Mark is a proven ace, I think Garland and Wright will have breakthrough years and Rauch should be a ROY candidate. With Nardi long gone the staff will improve.
