  1. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 09:37 AM) I don't like having to lose picks to get him, just wondering if there's something beyond the experience. Everything on him I saw/read was positive except for "how did he lose out twice to start in college" I think that negative is overrated anyway. Marquise Williams was an awesome dual-threat college QB. Not beating him out in that setting means little in his ability to be a NFL quarterback.
  2. QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 09:12 AM) Right. Taken in context, though, the Cubs are paying the reigning MVP just north of 1 million USD And their backup catcher makes $14 million
  3. QUOTE (Sonik22 @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 08:15 AM) Slept on it, still don't like the pick. Time will tell. Also...Sooooo the Bears just made themselves prime candidates out of the 8 eligible teams to be picked for HBO's Hard Knocks right? They were eligible but HBO picked the Bucs. But they will most likely be eligible next summer, unless Fox gets fired.
  4. Just got an e-mail from Mr. Munoz: Dear Mr, Each flight you take with us represents an important promise we make to you, our customer. It's not simply that we make sure you reach your destination safely and on time, but also that you will be treated with the highest level of service and the deepest sense of dignity and respect. Earlier this month, we broke that trust when a passenger was forcibly removed from one of our planes. We can never say we are sorry enough for what occurred, but we also know meaningful actions will speak louder than words. For the past several weeks, we have been urgently working to answer two questions: How did this happen, and how can we do our best to ensure this never happens again? It happened because our corporate policies were placed ahead of our shared values. Our procedures got in the way of our employees doing what they know is right. Fixing that problem starts now with changing how we fly, serve and respect our customers. This is a turning point for all of us here at United – and as CEO, it's my responsibility to make sure that we learn from this experience and redouble our efforts to put our customers at the center of everything we do. That’s why we announced that we will no longer ask law enforcement to remove customers from a flight and customers will not be required to give up their seat once on board – except in matters of safety or security. We also know that despite our best efforts, when things don’t go the way they should, we need to be there for you to make things right. There are several new ways we’re going to do just that. We will increase incentives for voluntary rebooking up to $10,000 and will be eliminating the red tape on permanently lost bags with a new "no-questions-asked" $1,500 reimbursement policy. We will also be rolling out a new app for our employees that will enable them to provide on-the-spot goodwill gestures in the form of miles, travel credit and other amenities when your experience with us misses the mark. You can learn more about these commitments and many other changes at hub.united.com. While these actions are important, I have found myself reflecting more broadly on the role we play and the responsibilities we have to you and the communities we serve. I believe we must go further in redefining what United's corporate citizenship looks like in our society. You can and ought to expect more from us, and we intend to live up to those higher expectations in the way we embody social responsibility and civic leadership everywhere we operate. I hope you will see that pledge express itself in our actions going forward, of which these initial, though important, changes are merely a first step. Our goal should be nothing less than to make you truly proud to say, "I fly United." Ultimately, the measure of our success is your satisfaction and the past several weeks have moved us to go further than ever before in elevating your experience with us. I know our 87,000 employees have taken this message to heart, and they are as energized as ever to fulfill our promise to serve you better with each flight and earn the trust you’ve given us. We are working harder than ever for the privilege to serve you and I know we will be stronger, better and the customer-focused airline you expect and deserve. With Great Gratitude, Oscar Munoz Oscar Munoz CEO United Airlines
  5. I said I really, really wanted a young QB to get my hopes up and here we are. The path Pace took still doesn't seem right though, but it is what it is. I don't know how it's all gonna shake out with Glennon, Trubisky, and an old head coach who probably really wants to win now. I wonder if Pace will still be around by the time we find out if Trubisky is any good.
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 10:02 PM) LOL, picked a kick returned in the first round. So Browns And he is from the school that their fanbase hates, not that it should matter
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 08:48 PM) The Sox really worked hard to keep him healthy and keep him off of the surgeon's table. I really wonder if Boston will be able to do the same. From the day he was drafted all we heard was that he was injury prone. Yet the White Sox got two relief seasons, followed by 5 seasons of 174+ innings. He is probably more effective as a strikeout pitcher than pitch to contact but what is better for his arm? All this as Mr. Durable Felix Hernandez is falling apart after 10+ full seasons.
  8. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 09:16 AM) Now Delta kicked a passenger off who went to the bathroom while the plane was sitting on the runway. The article I read said that he got up while they were waiting to take off which seems way worse than taxiing until a gate opens up. I may be wrong
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 09:55 PM) There we go. The lie detector worked The NFL Network guys were very uncomfortable about that whole thing there.
  10. QUOTE (zenryan @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 09:44 PM) Can't believe Howard fell in the Bucs lap. I was hoping maybe Njoku would be available if the top 3 RBs weren't available bc I figured Howard would've been gone by 19. Excited. Seems like a great pick but I was also a big ASJ fan when they picked him. Although he was a 2nd rounder with off the field problems.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 08:52 PM) Malik Hooker is incredible value anywhere now. You seem biased towards all these OSU guys...
  12. QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 08:37 PM) You guys complain every year that they don't address the Qb position. They finally make a shrewd move to get one because if they didn't it's likely someone else was entertaining a trade with San Fran to get Trubisky, the guy Pace identifies as "the guy" and you all lose ur s*** over a couple third rounders. What shrewd move are you referring to? I have yet to see one
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 08:36 PM) Still think Watson ends up the best QB in draft no contest And still doesn't make a Pro Bowl
  14. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 08:32 PM) So Pace has set his legacy, he traded a s*** load of picks to move up 1 spot probably for no reason but also signed a starting QB this offseason, oh and the dude he drafted is super raw so he'll take some time to develop. So how much time does he get? Does Pace have some assurance that his job is safe for 3 more years? Trubisky is not going to pay dividends right away, it's going to take time and trading away assets is not going to help the team's record this year or next so my question is, the f*** is going on? I have to wonder if the McCaskeys had any influence on this move. Like they demanded a QB and liked Mitch?
  15. So that's why they ask for season ticket money before the draft.
  16. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 08:00 PM) This is so beyond dumb. If they knew this was their pick and they were willing to pay a ransom for him, why on earth sign Glennon? They got fooled so hard thinking the Browns would take him. He's not good, they have too many holes to fill to waste picks, and they're going to suck next year so getting a top 5 pick and a chance at a QB is still there. God I wish the NFL would bring a new franchise to town so I can stop being a fan of this awful f***ing franchise The Glennon contract is front loaded and he can be easily cut after year 1, that doesn't bother me.
  17. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 07:28 PM) I am. Only thing that will change this franchise for the better (significantly) is getting a QB. I'm always okay paying the price for that guy. At least there is hope. Odds are he fails, but there is at least a chance. This franchise is not changing into a perennial winner until you find QB. You don't find QB (largely speaking) not investing in them early. Look at the franchise for the last 30 years...we've barely selected any QB's early and we have seen what we received. If we gave up that for a non QB, I'd have flipped...but we can take our time with Trubisky to learn, etc. Tools are really good. I'm not as bothered with the pick as I am trading 3 draft picks to move up one spot for a guy that wasn't gonna be drafted there. If Pace likes Trubisky that much, then I hope he's right, but he won't be GM anymore by the time that happens.
  18. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 07:18 PM) I hope we didn't give up anything too crazy to move up one pick. 3rd and 4th this year plus a 3rd next year. What a disaster already, lol. This pick better make the HOF
  19. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 06:02 PM) Last call, place your bets: Jamal Adams Watson and his spiky shoes
  20. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 03:41 PM) Kiper and McShay just said Trubisky will go #1 in their latest mock. It'd be kind of weird for Jacksonville to take Watson considering Bortles isn't a complete flop (yet). Browns beat writer tweeted that Browns are taking Garrett.
  21. Andy Katz is out, he had to be the top CBB writer in the country
  22. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 10:50 AM) The Browns have like 13 picks in this draft. That alone is worth watching. They should take like 5 qb's. One has to be good. And they can just each rotate drives every game. If each QB gets at least 2 drives/game, one of them is guaranteed to develop into a 16-game starter.
  23. Welcome to the board! There aren't really any organized groups of fans that follow the team all season like you would see in European soccer and presumably Australian sports. (That would be impressive for a 162- game season, ha). You might be able to post on here the day of the games and find some posters that re going and might want to meet up, I know we have some that live in AZ or Seattle. Also, if you search the web for Chicago bars in those cities, it could be easier to find groups of Sox fans in that area.
  24. Not that we need proof about how bad the Bears drafted under Angelo and Emery, here is quite the damning stat: Adam Schefter‏Verified account @AdamSchefter In 2016 Bears had NFL low snaps for original team draft picks prior to 2015 (pre Pace/Fox). Bears had 2,857. Next: CLE 3,347. NFL Avg: 7,933
  25. I would love to be at a Montreal bar watching PK Subban killing it tonight.
