World #1 Dustin Johnson withdraws from the Masters after slipping on the stairs in his guest house yesterday. I wonder if there was a bag marked "C. Boozer" on those stairs.

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 11:46 AM) Against division teams? Easy. I wouldn't be questioning this if it were against a team not coming back. It's not just the schedule. The players union wants their scheduled days off, and you can't just call games several days ahead of time because it MIGHT rain and be chilly.

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 11:28 AM) I'm more making a comment on the way they've handled the weather problems. I just think today's game has the potential to be a farce, and they would not have been wrong to move both games to later in the season. I think you are really over simplifying the ability to just move games later in the season.

Shields is gonna shut down the Tigers today, you heard it here first.

QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 11:03 AM) Caribbean and Central/South American people love mayonnaise. https://www.mastercook.com/app/Recipe/WebRe...cipeId=10192830 I wonder if it's the Dutch influence. We know how they like their French Fries. (possible NSFW language)

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 09:08 AM) I know that. That's why I used the word "mostly". There should have been 12 division games, and the other three should have been in places where weather isn't much of factor. There were 11 division matchups scheduled yesterday, and two of the other 4 games were in places where weather isn't really a factor.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 06:23 PM) Sale taking on the Pirates right now. The White Sox run support followed him to Boston too.

Days like yesterday make me glad I no longer really follow recruiting very much until the kids hit campus. And that's for the Tilmon and Antigua stuff. -

QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 10:41 AM) The Championship window for the Hawks is finite. Can't risk losing any guys. And even if they don't get hurt, if last season taught us anything the deep runs in the playoffs every year take a toll on this team. Kane, Toews, and Keith have no business playing any extra competitive hockey. There is ONLY the Stanley Cup. It's the only thing our guys are paid $10.5 million each for. Yeah, yeah, I know, I can't disagree with anything you say, but I don't care. Olympic hockey is awesome at the top level and it's worth the risk for me. Maybe I'd feel differently as a Caps who never win anything.

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 10:17 AM) Wind is going to make it unplayable. Unless they want to play in sustained 30 mph winds and higher gusts, and wind chills in the 20s. It's a division team. Do a day/night in August. I think you need to tweet at Jesse Rogers: Jesse Rogers @ESPNChiCubs Cubs game cancelled. Will play tomorrow at 12:45 pm. http://www.espn.com/espn/now?nowId=21-0641295742798929275-4 …
-
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 10:03 AM) I hope they are able to play tomorrow to spite you lol If they really want to play, there seems like there will be a window in the afternoon. It won't be pleasant, but they can definitely play.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 4, 2017 -> 12:35 PM) It will be interesting to see how many players flee for a place like the KHL where they will probably be allowed to play for their home country (Russia or the old satellites in most cases) Like you were saying... http://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/1908271...ck-khl-olympics I think it's limiting because you have to be a free agent after this season, unless you pull a Kovalchuk.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 4, 2017 -> 09:51 AM) The mayoral in Park Ridge has gotten very interesting. The acting mayor, who stepped in when the previous one passed away in office, is running against a newcomer. The newcomer is a real estate attorney whose campaign is being led by a big developer/realtor in the area which is an interesting connection. Either way, thanks to social media, I feel like it's gotten very heated and there's definitely been some mud slinging occurring, on and off of Facebook. I'm still not 100% certain who I am voting for I know nothing about how local elections usually go, but judging by yard signs, it seemed like this should have been a close election. Nope. The "acting" mayor won 70%-30%, smoked it. It is very different when the candidates run non-partisan, which I think is good to remove the automatic bias you can get when you see the D or the R next to a candidate's name.

QUOTE (joejoedairy @ Apr 4, 2017 -> 10:37 AM) I wonder how many NHL players will go anyway. It's only two weeks or so worth of games they'll have to miss. I know ovechkin has said he'd go either way but I wonder if it will even be allowed. I'm sure Ovechkin will go, but I don't know how many will join him. You have to be in good standing with your club, because I'd assume it could void your contract. Or if you got hurt, your team's insurance may not cover it at all.

I think it's a fun number to look at when used in the right context and situation. What ESPN seems to be doing is 100% wrong.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 3, 2017 -> 11:02 PM) Roy Williams has never coached a player who became an all star in the NBA. That's pretty incredible. Not a single player from the 2005 team was even an All-Star?? Way to rub salt in an old wound.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Apr 3, 2017 -> 09:54 PM) Both teams are playing at a remarkably poor level tonight. Just horrendous basketball. At least the game is close though. And the refs aren't helping

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Apr 3, 2017 -> 04:42 PM) Jesus, phones are expensive. Just pre-ordered two Galaxy S8+ phones for my wife and I. $1,850 with tax, not including the two $100 promotions i'm going to order (they provide a free bluetooth headset that is normally $150 and a 256gb memory card that is normally $150. I don't need the headset but the big memory card is worth it.) Got them on a buy one, get one free promotion, so that number is slightly smaller. But still, it'll end up being about $1200-$1300 for two phones. I guess given the amount of time you spend using a phone these days that's money well spent. But it's a tough pill to swallow when i've literally never spent more than a penny on a cell phone. They've either been free or one cent through Amazon. My s4 crapped out, so I ordered the s7 Edge. The day it arrived, I saw a commercial for the s8 which I didn't realize was coming out. I didn't have time to wait and only paid $300, but it was still a WTF, funny timing.

The NHL will NOT be sending players to the 2018 Olympics. That's a bummer, Hawks injuries be damned. Olympic hockey is awesome and it won't be the same without the top players.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 3, 2017 -> 08:37 AM) the bottom 4 in the lineup is probably the worst in the majors oh my goodness nevermind. I just looked at the padres lineup. Tigers aren't much better: Mikie Mahtook® RF James McCann® C JaCoby Jones® CF Jose Iglesias® SS -
QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 2, 2017 -> 05:55 PM) I should watch more Goldschmidt. Probably the team I see least just ahead of padres. He's so awesome and kinda flies under the radar. Giants had one job in the off-season, fix the bullpen. Not a good start.
